Chapter 40 Leave

"Nan girl, is this your eldest brother?"

Nanqiao Nanzhou and Chen Nian came to their workplace and happened to meet Aunt Xiumei who looked very happy.

"Yes, Aunt Xiumei, this is my eldest brother Nanzhou."

"Hey, what a good boy, look at his appearance," Aunt Xiumei praised with approval.

"You're welcome," Nanzhou smiled politely.

"Brother, this is Aunt Xiumei. The yard we live in is Aunt Xiumei's home." Nanqiao introduced the two of them.

"Hello, Aunt Xiumei, thank you for taking care of Nanqiao during this period of time."

"Oh, why are you being so polite? Nana came here all by herself and is staying at my house, so I have to take care of her, right?"

"We only have this little girl in our family. She is very pampered by our family. I hope you can take good care of her in the future if anything happens to her."

Nanqiao felt warm at heart when listening to his elder brother's words. His elder brother, who was always cold and serious, thanked the people around him over and over again for his sake.

"Don't worry, we will make sure she stays safe here. Let your parents rest assured too. The people in our village are all good people, and nothing messy will happen." At worst, there is still my son to watch over her. But to be honest, for Brother Nanqiao, his own son is the biggest danger, Aunt Xiumei thought to herself.

"Okay, thank you very much," Nanzhou said

Aunt Xiumei smiled brightly when she heard this, and glanced at Sheng Yanchuan on the other side of the reclamation land to see what was going on.

"Okay, okay, get busy. Come to my house for dinner if you have the chance these days," said Aunt Xiumei, and prepared to go back to her place.

Nanzhou nodded and came to Nanqiao

The day passed quickly. The daily training in the army was very strenuous, so planting and farming was a piece of cake for Nanzhou.

At night, Nanqiao took a pound of meat and a pound of brown sugar, wrapped them in a paper bag, and went to the village chief's house.

"Village chief, are you home?" Nanqiao came to the door of the village chief's yard and looked out.

The village head's wife heard the voice and came out, "Nan Zhiqing, come in quickly, your uncle Dong is at home."

The village chief's wife is called Gaixian. She has a good relationship with Aunt Xiumei, so Nanqiao has seen her many times.

"Aunt Gaixian, Uncle Dong hasn't rested yet, right? Am I a little late?" Nanqiao asked worriedly. She came late on purpose so that no one would see her carrying things, but it would not be good if everyone else had rested.

"Why are you taking a break? It's only nine o'clock. My daughter-in-law just gave birth a few days ago. She loves her grandson so much that she is watching the baby in the house."

"That's perfect. I brought some pork and brown sugar to nourish Sister Meimei." Nanqiao knew that Aunt Gaixian's daughter-in-law was called Meimei, but he had never seen her, let alone that she had given birth to a baby. The brown sugar he brought just happened to be there.

"Oh, you are so polite, girl. Come in and take a look at our handsome boy." Aunt Gaixian took the pork and brown sugar from Nanqiao's hand and spoke more eagerly.

She was not too interested in the pork sent by Nanqiao. Although it was not easy to eat meat these days, her husband was the village chief after all, and it was a wealthy village nearby, so it was not difficult to eat meat.

But brown sugar is rare. What the villagers lack most is tickets. Unlike the employees in the town, they can get a lot of tickets every year. If the villagers want to buy brown sugar or something, just a sugar ticket can make them die.

Or you can go to the black market, but the prices there are beyond the reach of ordinary people, and some rare items require you to wait for them every day to come across them.

It's not easy for my daughter-in-law to eat brown sugar eggs during her confinement period, so when she weighed the heavy bag of brown sugar in her hand, Aunt Gaixian couldn't hide the smile on her face.

When I entered the house, a wave of hot air hit me in the face. Villagers pay attention to not taking a bath or washing their hair during confinement, and they cannot be exposed to the wind.

It was okay in winter, but it was really hard during the hot summer. Within a minute or two, Nanqiao felt that he was sweating profusely.

"Nan Zhiqing, are you here to see me?" When Nan Qiao entered the house, he did not see Sister Meimei who was in the inner room taking care of her baby. Only Uncle Dong was looking after the baby in the outer room.

"Yes, Village Chief, I have something to trouble you with."

"What's the matter? Tell me," the village chief teased the child.

"Village Chief, my brother is here to see me, so I want to take a few days off and spend the next few days with him around the area."

"How many days?" The village chief raised his head and asked after hearing what Nanqiao said.

"Three days, my brother will be back in three days." Nanqiao said and looked at the village chief eagerly, with a look of expectation on his face.

"Three days... is a bit too long. You just arrived not long ago. You had to rest for a while because of your foot injury last time. If you ask for another three days, the other educated youth will have some objections." The village chief frowned slightly.

"Aren't you here to ask the village chief for help?"

"Oh, look at you, what's so difficult about this? Xiaonan has been working very hard recently and has never been lazy. If other educated youth are not satisfied, let them also use their work points to speak. Three days of leave is not a big deal. What's more, their brothers can take leave from the army, and our village can't even give the educated youth three days of home."

Auntie Gaixian was helping out and saying

After hearing what his wife said, the village chief was speechless. He thought for a while and said, "Well, this time your family came to see you, and the situation is special, so I will grant you three days off. This will not happen again."

"Okay, I will work hard when I come back," Nanqiao promised with a smile.

Then he looked at the baby in Uncle Dong's arms and said, "What a cute little guy. Look at those big watery eyes. What's his name?"

"My name is Li Junfeng, and my nickname is Junjun"

"Hello, Junjun." Nanqiao teased little Junjun. The little baby looked at the beautiful sister in front of him with smiling eyes.
