The next morning, Nanqiao had just gotten up and washed up when he saw Aunt Gaixian looking out the gate. He hurried over to open the gate.
"Aunt Gaixian, why are you here so early? Come in and sit down. I'll get it for you." Nanqiao said as he called Aunt Gaixian into the yard.
"Hey, it's okay, I'll just wait for you here." Auntie Gaixian actually wanted to follow Nanqiao back to get it last night, but it was too late and she didn't feel comfortable chasing after him so closely, so she waited until this morning.
I didn't get a good night's rest. I was thinking about this can of malted milk all the time. It's not easy to make it to dawn, so I hurried over.
Nanqiao went back to the house and took out the can of malted milk and gave it to Aunt Gaixian.
"Here, Auntie, take it."
"Oh, okay, okay, thank you so much, Nan Zhiqing. If you have any problems in the future, come to me and I will do my best to help you solve them." Aunt Gaixian took the malted milk, stuffed the money into Nanqiao's pocket, and said with gratitude.
"Okay, I'll come to you if I need anything. Take it back quickly so that Junjun can drink it in the morning."
Nanzhou heard the noise in the yard, changed his sweaty clothes from exercise and walked out of the house.
When Aunt Gaixian saw the person coming, she thought it was Nanqiao's brother, and felt a little embarrassed for a moment, because he was snatching food from his sister...
"This... this is your brother, right? Please take some time off these days to spend more time with your brother," said Aunt Gaixian
"Well, this is my brother, big brother, and this is Aunt Gaixian."
"Hello, Auntie," Nanzhou said.
"Okay, okay, then you guys are busy, I won't bother you anymore," Aunt Gaixian said and left the yard.
"Aunt Gaixian, take care." Nanqiao escorted Aunt Gaixian to the gate of the courtyard.
"Okay, don't send it off. That... Nan Zhiqing, you still need to pay more attention to the matter of malted milk," Aunt Gaixian said stutteringly.
"Don't worry," Nanqiao assured
After seeing off Aunt Gaixian, Nanqiao returned to the courtyard.
"Why don't you keep it for yourself?" Nanzhou had just come out of the house and happened to be facing Aunt Gaixian, so he naturally saw what was in her hand.
"I don't like drinking, and I have to pay for it," Nanqiao said playfully, waving the four dollars in his hand.
Nanzhou looked at her without saying a word. Nanqiao walked into the yard with a smile and stood not far from Nanzhou. Then he whispered
"She has a child at home. It's pitiful for a baby to not have enough food to eat. Besides... Auntie Gaixian's husband is the village chief."
When Nanzhou heard this, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, "Then you should give it to her. I'll go to town today and buy a few more cans for you to keep. I have a lot of tickets, but it took too long for my parents to send them to me. But don't give them all to her at once."
"I know," Nanqiao nodded in response.
Nanqiao and Nanzhou packed up and went out. Nanzhou found it inconvenient to ride a women's bicycle, so Nanqiao borrowed a bicycle from Sheng Yanchuan the night before.
So Nanqiao was lazy today and asked Nanzhou to take her to town on a bicycle.
"Brother, what if you didn't go to the army and I didn't go to the countryside, and our whole family was in Shanghai, how great it would be." Nanqiao sat in the back seat, his voice full of longing.
"I will" Nanzhou said with certainty. Although he didn't know how long he would stay in the army, he was sure that when his rank was promoted, he would find a chance to transfer back to Shanghai.
Although I love this job, I can't just drift around and perform tasks all my life...
His parents are getting older, his younger brother is getting married and having children, and his younger sister is now working in the countryside and he doesn't know when she will be able to return. He can't just leave the responsibility of taking care of his parents to his younger brother.
So, one day, their whole family can live together in Shanghai.
"Brother, what do you think...if the college entrance examination can be resumed, where should I go to college?" Nanqiao grabbed the corner of Nanzhou's clothes and asked.
"Sit tight." Nanzhou felt that Nanqiao was not sitting well in the back seat, and was afraid that she would fall off, so he said anxiously.
Nanqiao stuck out his tongue when he heard that, and sat down quietly, not moving around anymore.
"If the college entrance examination can be resumed, universities in Kyoto and Shanghai can be considered. One is the capital, and the other is a rapidly developing coastal city. Both are good choices."
"I was thinking about these two places. Actually, I want to go to Kyoto, but I want to be closer to home," Nanqiao said hesitantly with a frown.
"Four years of college will pass quickly. At worst, I can go to Kyoto to finish my studies and then go home. My brother's residence is very close to Kyoto, so I can come to see you then."
"If that's the case, I can stay in Kyoto with my eldest brother for four years, and then we can go back to Shanghai to be with my parents and second brother. How great it would be."
"Yes," Nanzhou responded, his voice full of anticipation.
Nanqiao sat in the back seat thinking about his future life, his eyes full of anticipation
But at present, her first priority is to spend a stable life in the countryside and wait for the college entrance examination.
That's the only way to talk about it. Now we are trapped in this small village. No matter how much we say, it's all fake.
When he arrived in the town, Nanzhou's comrades were in the Civil Defense Department. It was only after Nanzhou knew Nanqiao's address that he found out that a soldier he had led when he first served as a squad leader had been transferred here.
Because he was transferred from the special forces in Kyoto, his position here was not low to begin with. In addition, he was a local with a high degree of education, so after a few years he was promoted to the position of director. However, it was a small local civil defense department after all, so he was usually very idle.
But having said that, it is not something that most people can achieve at the age of 27.
After showing my ID at the gate of the government compound, I entered the office building under the guidance of the gatekeeper.
Arriving at the office door according to the house number, Nanzhou knocked on the door
"Come in" a voice came from inside the house
Nanzhou pushed the door open and walked in. The man sitting at the desk in the room looked up and saw that it was Nanzhou. He stood up with a look of joy on his face and walked forward to greet him, saying, "Captain, you're here. I've been looking forward to your coming since you called me last time. Come and sit down."
