Chapter 192: To Save or Not

In the evening, the quiet mental hospital began to become lively, but the liveliness was on the second floor. The first floor was still as quiet as ever.

The two guards guarding the door couldn't help yawning.

"Are there any customers coming these days? With so many people coming every day, I haven't had a rest for several days. I'm so tired." One of them moved his shoulders and complained in a low voice.

"Don't say that. Without customers, how can we get money to pay our monthly salary? Anyway, it's just a matter of a few days throughout the year. Just get through it." The other man was scared all day and looked around quickly. He patted him on the shoulder and then lowered his voice.

The other person also knew that he had said something wrong and didn't dare to say anything more.

At this time, the guests who were still walking outside also came back one after another.

The two men pretended to be in high spirits and stood at the door cheering loudly.

However, there were only a few guests, and after dark, everyone went upstairs. To ensure the safety of the guests, the other patrol guards only went downstairs during their shift changes, and remained on duty on the second floor the rest of the time.

The two gatekeepers were getting increasingly sleepy.

They stood there and gradually closed their eyes.

No one noticed that after they fell asleep, a pair of dark eyes blinked in the dark and quietly moved to the back of the mental hospital.

One of the guards fell asleep and his head tilted and hit the wall.

"Hiss! It hurts so much!" He woke up instantly, rubbed his head, muttered a few curses, and yawned loudly.

The air was filled with the smell of fireworks, and the warm feeling made him fall asleep again... Wait!

Fireworks?!

He suddenly opened his eyes and his gaze moved around.

When he saw the raging fire behind the house, his face changed.

Oops!

"The fire is breaking!" he yelled at the top of his voice.

However, he ate too many irritating foods a few days ago, and his throat has been sore these days, his voice is hoarse, and he can't shout loudly no matter how hard he tries.

He hurriedly turned his head to look around, trying to find some water to put out the fire, but he only saw his partner standing not far away, leaning against the wall and sleeping soundly.

He gritted his teeth, grabbed his companion by the collar and began to shake him: "Wake up! There's a fire! This is terrible!"

The other gatekeeper was shaken for a long time before he woke up rubbing his eyes. When he saw the fire, he was so scared that his face turned blue instantly.

"There's a fire!" He roared, and his roar echoed through the sky.

What's worse is that in order to ensure safety and privacy, all the windows here are built close to the ceiling and are only the size of a brick.

Although some people upstairs vaguely heard the roaring below, most people didn't pay any attention at all.

The two guards at the gate wanted to rush in to report the news, but just as they picked up their weapons, they saw that the fire had instantly swept out and was approaching their position.

"The fire is too big! We might die if we go in! Should we not rush in?!" one of them said with chattering teeth.

The other person watched silently for a while and nodded: "Life and death are determined by fate. If God doesn't let them die, they will definitely survive."

The two looked at each other and understood what was in each other's eyes.

They quickly retreated several steps and retreated to a safe position. Then they put down their weapons, sat down cross-legged, and silently chanted scriptures to pray for everyone.

As time passed, the patrolling guards in the house were the first to notice something was wrong.

They and the gatekeepers take turns every few hours.

It was almost time for a shift change, and the person on duty walked to the door. Instead of seeing the two people on duty, they saw a raging fire.

Their expressions changed instantly and they rushed into the house to report the news.

No one noticed that at this moment in the underground passage, in the different cells, everyone lowered their heads and silently clenched the sharp stones in their hands.

"Oh no! Everyone come up to help! There's a fire!" A loud roar came from above the tunnel.

The patrolmen walking back and forth in the middle of the tunnel quickly picked up their weapons and rushed out.

In the cell, the imprisoned person raised his head instantly, with a cold light flashing in his eyes.

The time has come!

The person who stole the key rushed to the door and tried to unlock it, while the others helped each other to untie their restraints or help cut the lock.

Everyone was moving, but it was like a silent film, with only the sound of chains clashing and no other sounds.

Time passes by little by little.

By the time everyone managed to escape from the cell, more than twenty minutes had passed.

While the people in the dungeon were busy escaping, more and more people came to the first floor.

At first, the patrol team was just pouring water in a hurry, but they were in the house after all, and the water in the water tank was decreasing little by little. If this continued, there would be no water left.

Their lives were about to be lost, so they had no time to worry about other things. They separated into two groups and hurriedly knocked on the door of the dark room.

"Is there any water?"

"What water?! I was having fun, and you suddenly... Hey! What are you doing?! Why are you taking away the water we were drinking?!"

"Excuse me, sir, is there any water in your room?"

"No! Wait, don't rush in suddenly, I... who are you? You're like a robber!"

"Do you have water in your house?"

"Ah! Madman! Don't come over here! I'm still in the bathtub! Where are you going to move me?!"

The situation was extremely urgent. Some guards didn't care at all. Even if some guests were bathing in the bathtub, they ignored them and directly carried the guests and the bathtub downstairs.
