The heavy snowfall bent an old tree under its weight.
The branches of that century-old peach tree, adorned with red ribbons for blessings, drooped low under the weight of the snow, the ribbons swaying gently in the wind.
At the entrance of Linjia Village, a thick layer of snow covered the bluestone sign, and a group of people were staring in astonishment at the phoenix.
This mythical bird has wings as blue as the sky and tail feathers that shimmer with iridescent light, making it exceptionally dazzling in the snow.
So, when did this kind of divine bird appear in the desolate mountains? And this thing can even talk!
"I've never seen you before!" Xia Yan circled around the phoenix, her white cloak fluttering in the snow, and the bronze bell hanging at her waist jingling with her movements.
"How come you've never seen me before! You used to be holding that broken stick, ready to hit me!" The blue phoenix moved away from her, its golden beak opening and closing as if afraid of being hit on the head again by that jade-inlaid staff.
Xia Yan was even more confused. Did she really have the guts to chase after a phoenix and beat it up? She subconsciously touched the sachet at her waist, which still contained a few unused agate beads.
"Wait, you're that little bird that tries to steal my magic stone every day?" Xia Yan was shocked when she realized this. She couldn't help but circle around the bird for a long time, her boots crunching on the snow.
When she lived in the desolate mountains, she noticed that the magic energy there was abundant, so she wondered if she could make her own magic stones to replenish her magic energy when she went out to fight. Little did she know that all the fragments she managed to craft were carried away by a little bluebird!
At first, she thought the little bluebird had eaten so many magic stones that she was startled, fearing it might explode and die. She quickly grabbed her magic wand and chased after it. However, the little bluebird was extremely fast and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Later she learned that the little bird had used those scattered, colorful stones to build its nest! A bluebird liked to build its nest with colorful stones! It even used these stones to help other birds!
The entire Linjia Village and Zhangjia Village were shocked. Later, Old Lady Gongsun even gave Xia Yan some stones and agates, asking her to help make warm stones to put in the bird nests in the village, so that the birds would have a warm nest.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Are you going to boil me? I, I'm leaving!" The phoenix saw several iron pots set up on the ground, with firewood still burning underneath. It quickly spread its shimmering wings, lifted the snake woman, and left.
The magnificent phoenix flew away, and the snake woman sat on its back, overlooking the entire village and gazing into the distance.
Sitting on this bluebird, I couldn't feel any wind or snow. Could it really be a divine bird?
No, the little girl named Xia Yan clearly said that this bird was just an ordinary little bird before.
So, all of this was done by the Mountain Goddess, who transformed an ordinary bird into such a magnificent phoenix?
The snake woman gasped, the golden cloud-patterned belt around her waist swaying gently in the wind.
Fortunately, we chose to cooperate and did not oppose this mountain goddess, otherwise the snake's tail would have been whipped off.
She carefully curled her tail up, showing even greater respect for this place, for it was the dwelling place of the gods!
In just a few minutes, the phoenix led the woman behind it to the vicinity of the mountain god temple.
It landed gently and proudly declared, "The Mountain God Temple is the most beautiful place in the desolate mountains; it's my favorite place!"
"Of course, I love the Mountain Goddess the most. Without her, I wouldn't be so beautiful..." The phoenix rambled on for a while, then turned and warned, "Don't be disrespectful to the Mountain Goddess, or I'll kill you!"
In the blink of an eye, the Azure Phoenix flew away, trailing its magnificent tail.
Not far away, several phoenixes and other legendary birds similar to the phoenix were circling in the air, their flapping wings smoothing out the wind and snow in the mountains.
Is it really that amazing? No wonder she's the only god in this world. She must perform well and try to get on the good side of this powerful figure! The snake woman swallowed hard and secretly clenched her fist.
She swam across the snow and forward, only to be stunned as she passed through a semi-transparent light barrier.
The air was filled with the sounds of birds and the fragrance of flowers. The red earth was covered with ripe crops, and even the fruit trees in the distance were laden with fruit, exuding the sweet aroma of ripe flesh.
Most surprisingly, in front of the mountain god temple, there is a simple blue stone path, with all kinds of flowers blooming on both sides, and a group of colorful butterflies resting on the flowers.
The snake woman's sudden arrival startled them, and several butterflies flew overhead, their colorful wings trailing behind them, curiously looking this way.
Among these butterflies, the snake woman recognized one as the Goddess of Light Butterfly. However, this butterfly was not blue; instead, it was a brilliant gold, and its wings spread out like a golden peacock's tail, possessing an indescribable sacred beauty.
"The Mountain Goddess is waiting for you, come with me." The golden butterfly's voice was as clear as a wind chime.
Holy crap, this butterfly can talk! The snake woman's scalp tingled instantly, and the silver bracelet on her wrist jingled from the sudden shock.
Just how powerful is this god?!
Not only that, she also saw a sapphire-blue lake nearby, in which several koi swam, occasionally blowing bubbles in the air before diving into them, able to play with their companions in the air.
Seeing so many amazing creatures, she no longer felt that her human body and snake tail were anything special. With so many amazing creatures in the desolate mountains, there was no need for her to be one more!
The golden butterfly slowly flew forward, leading the snake woman. Before long, they reached the end of the bluestone path, where there was an open space in front of the mountain god's temple. A white jade chessboard was placed there, with chess pieces made of green and black jade on both sides of the board.
