Chapter 197 The Strange Temple

"Please sit down," the golden butterfly said gently.

The snake woman carefully sat down, even positioning her tail perfectly.

Anyway, it's better to play it safe, no problem! She silently told herself.

Suddenly, the chessboard in front of me moved, as if an invisible hand was controlling it.

The snake woman glanced at her discreetly, and upon confirming that the mountain goddess wanted to play chess with her, she carefully picked up a jade chess piece and placed it in a position.

The god and the snake descended together, and the snake woman's anxiety was gradually soothed. She felt as if she were soaking in a warm spring, completely relaxed, with only a pair of jade pendants swaying gently with her contemplative movements.

After an unknown amount of time, a distant and mystical voice rang out. "If you wish, you may stay in this desolate mountain."

The next second, the chessboard in front of her disappeared. The snake woman seemed to wake from a dream and subconsciously looked at the mountain god temple opposite her.

This place is sheltered from wind and snow, and is full of vibrant life.

The snake woman suddenly thought of the idiom "watching chess until the axe handle rots," which comes from "The Complete Biographies of Immortals."

It tells the story of an event that occurred in the mid-Jin Dynasty. A man went up a mountain to cut down trees and encountered two old men playing chess. When he returned to his hometown, he was surprised to find that hundreds of years had passed.

A day in the mountains is equivalent to hundreds of years on earth—this is a modern legend about deities.

The snake woman flicked her tail, the scales making a soft sound as they rubbed against the flagstones. She wondered to herself, "When I get back, will the villagers of the desolate mountain be gone?"

That won't do! Those people are her providers! If she goes elsewhere, who will let her eat so much?

"Chirp chirp!" A tiny gray ball of fluff dressed in an exquisite little dress flew down from the sky. The dress was made of the finest silk, with delicate patterns embroidered on the cuffs.

The little dumpling has grown up quite well. It has grown normal hands and feet and looks like a gray porcelain doll. It also has translucent white wings fluttering on its back, with fine patterns on the wings.

"Little Grey, you're here too?" The snake woman was overjoyed. It turned out that Little Grey had disappeared after arriving here and had been brought here by the Mountain Goddess!

"Let's go back, I want all the other sisters to see that I've grown wings!" Little Grey proudly puffed out her little belly and patted her chest with her newly grown little hands.
