Chapter 225 The Appointment in Jingzhou

The Jiang brothers stood on either side of the road, with rows of archers standing behind them.

Ling Xian sat on the grain cart looking at the account book, occasionally translating it, and writing and drawing with a black charcoal pen.

"I've already said it, why bother?" He looked up, his gaze as indifferent as it had been during the day, as if nothing could move him.

"General, don't you understand yet?"

Kan Da Dao roared as he drew his copper hammer, only to see his personal guards all taking off their helmets and staring intently at the strategist and the two Jiang brothers behind him.

"You..." The copper hammer crashed to the ground, and Kan Da Dao was shocked.

"What's wrong with you all? Why do you look like you've seen a long-lost relative? Look closely, I am your mighty general, and the people opposite me are just the strategist and two lieutenants!"

Ling Xian wiped his fingers clean and took out an account book from his sleeve: "Last December, the Mighty Army forcibly requisitioned 2,000 shi of military grain, causing more than 400 civilians to die of cold and starvation."

He closed the booklet and sighed softly, "General, you are no longer the mighty general who cared for the people. What can you do now besides bring disaster to the people?"

Kan Da Dao suddenly froze. He recalled the golden light of the Liangzhou Mountain God Temple, and the report from his scouts in Qingzhou, and finally let out a mournful wail that sounded inhuman: "You were all people from that temple all along?!"

“Wrong.” Ling Xian bent down, picked up the copper hammer, and gently placed it on the grain cart. “We have always been the people.”

The night wind dispersed the dark clouds, revealing a sky full of stars.

The mighty general sat on the ground and let out a painful wail.
