Chapter 242 Willing to Share Master's Worries!

The study of the Shangguan residence.

The twilight deepened outside the window, and a few scattered stars seemed to adorn the dark blue velvet.

Inside the study, the candlelight flickered, illuminating Shangguan Qing's gloomy face.

Standing in front of him were his most prized disciples.

The air was filled with the faint scent of ink, and the suppressed resentment of the disciples.

"Master! Those people from the desolate mountains are far too arrogant and domineering! They actually dragged several imperial physicians into the imperial prison!"

A slightly older disciple with a square face spoke first, his voice suppressing his anger.

"As soon as they arrived, they turned the Imperial Hospital upside down!"

"They treat us as if we don't exist!"

“That’s right!” another round-faced disciple echoed indignantly.

"They're just relying on the support of the Left Chancellor and Consort Shu to act arrogantly and domineeringly in the Imperial Hospital!"

"And that so-called Doctor Tong, I've never heard of him before, but he's got quite the airs!"

"The epidemic prevention regulations in that desolate mountain area are unheard of; they're utterly ridiculous!"

"What's with all this talk about ventilation, disinfection, and wearing cloth towels? If it were really that simple, how could the plague be an incurable disease?!"

"If it weren't for Master stopping me today, I would have loved to rush up and argue with her!"

The group of people were all speaking out, expressing their indignation on behalf of Shangguan Qing.

They had been learning medicine from Shangguan Qing since childhood and regarded their master as a medical master. They had never been treated with such contempt and coldness as they did today.

They felt especially ashamed to see those rude guards in the desolate mountains dragging their master and his colleagues out like dead dogs.

Shangguan Qing sat upright in the armchair, his fingers lightly tapping the armrest. His face remained expressionless, but the coldness in his eyes grew even deeper.

He listened to his disciples' complaints without saying a word.

At this moment.

The youngest and most impulsive apprentice stepped forward, his handsome face radiating a sense of impulsiveness.

"Master! This disciple cannot swallow this insult!"

Mu clenched his fist, his eyes flashing with a defiant light.

"This disciple does not believe that those people truly possess any extraordinary abilities!"

"I think most of those rules are just for show, a trick put on for the world to see!"

He paused, then looked intently at his master.

"This disciple is willing to go and share Master's burdens!"

"Pretend to strike up a conversation with them, and sneak into their so-called temporary ward to take a look!"

"I must see for myself what kind of crooked methods they are using to cure diseases and save lives!"

"Master is waiting for his disciple to find evidence to expose the true colors of these fame-seeking scoundrels and make them reveal their true colors!"

Mu spoke with great passion, as if he could already see himself revealing the truth and triumphantly achieving his goal.

Upon hearing this, Shangguan Qing paused slightly in tapping his fingers.

He raised his eyes and glanced at his young apprentice indifferently.

That look carried a hint of scrutiny, and also a subtle hint of expectation.

"Um."

He let out a soft hum through his nose, which was taken as his agreement.

"Then you may go."

"Thank you, Master!" Zhou Lin was overjoyed and immediately bowed in gratitude.

Upon seeing this, the other senior brothers gathered around.

"Junior brother, please be careful on this journey!"

“Those people from the desolate mountains don’t look like they’re easy to mess with. Don’t act rashly.”

"Yes, find out the details and then go back. Don't get into any conflict with them."

"Junior brother, your senior brother is waiting for you to come back and expose those liars!"

"Wishing my junior brother a swift success and a triumphant return!"

Surrounded by his fellow disciples, Zhou Lin felt his blood boiling!

He quickly bowed and said goodbye, leaving the study in high spirits.

Watching his little apprentice's figure disappear into the night, Shangguan Qing picked up the tea that had long since gone cold and took another sip.

A slight smile curved at the corners of his lips.

It wouldn't hurt to go and investigate the situation.

He wanted to see if these people were truly capable or just bluffing!

However, time passed little by little.

From dusk to the stillness of the night, and then to the faint light of dawn on the horizon.

Most of the day has passed.

The candles in the study were changed, and the tea was refilled several times.

Mu Ye, however, never returned.

Like a stone sinking into the sea, there has been no news of them.

"Master, Junior Brother, he..."

The square-faced senior brother from before no longer had the resentment on his face; instead, his face was filled with deep worry.

"It's almost dawn, why hasn't Junior Brother returned yet?" The round-faced senior brother paced anxiously in place.

"Could it be that they were discovered and detained by the people in those remote mountains?"

"Those people are brutal; they even dared to drag away the imperial physicians. If my junior brother really falls into their hands..."

The senior brothers became increasingly alarmed as they thought about it, and all looked at Shangguan Qing, who was sitting motionless.

"Master, what should we do?"

Shangguan Qing's face also darkened completely.

He never expected that Mu would also leave and never return.

Has it really been discovered?

Why are the people living in those remote mountains so vigilant?

His knuckles turned slightly white from gripping the fist, and a hint of annoyance flashed in his eyes.

After a moment of silence, he looked at another disciple, Li Mo, who was usually quiet and rarely showed his face in public.

"Li Mo."

“Disciple is here.” Li Mo immediately stepped forward.

"Go there," Shangguan Qing said in a low, cold voice. "Go to the place where they set up their clinic and find out about your junior brother."

"Remember, just observe from a distance, don't get close, and most importantly, don't reveal your identity."

"Return immediately to report any sign of trouble!"

"Yes, Master!" Li Mo bowed and accepted the order without the slightest delay, then turned and quickly left.
