Traitorous disciple!
These two words almost burst out from between Shangguan Qing's teeth!
He felt his blood running backward, and an unprecedented anger swept through his body!
"Master! Master, please calm down!"
Feng Ming reacted quickly and grabbed Shangguan Qing, who was swaying and had dark circles under his eyes.
He said urgently, "Master, you've misunderstood! Junior Brother Li and Junior Brother Mu must have been too focused on their work to notice you!"
"They're very busy here, and they just want to do their part in this fight against the epidemic!"
Feng Ming spoke earnestly, almost dragging and supporting Shangguan Qing as he led her outside.
Shangguan Qing's chest heaved violently, and he made a hoarse sound in his throat, clearly very angry.
Feng Ming inwardly groaned, but dared not show it on his face.
He pulled his master to a corner of the courtyard, away from the crowd, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
In the courtyard, the branches and leaves of several old locust trees are still sparse, and sunlight shines through the gaps, casting dappled spots of light.
The air was filled with the distinctive crispness of disinfectant mixed with a faint herbal scent.
Feng Ming turned his gaze and saw the woman in the indigo cloth who had given him the mask and disinfectant earlier directing several people to move the herbs.
This person was Xia Yan.
"Miss Xia!" Feng Ming called out immediately.
Xia Yan turned around upon hearing the voice and saw that it was the new, studious helper, so she walked over.
"Is there something you need?" she asked calmly, with a hint of inquiry.
Feng Ming glanced at his master's ashen face and forced a smile, saying, "Miss Xia, my master still has some questions about these epidemic prevention methods and the so-called virus."
He paused, his tone tinged with hope: "May I ask you, young lady, to allow us to see with our own eyes the true culprits behind these illnesses?"
Upon hearing this, Shangguan Qing frowned, about to reprimand Feng Ming for his nonsense.
Xia Yan nodded and readily agreed, "It's possible, but we'll need a microscope."
She thought for a moment and said, "Come with me. It just so happens that I'm on duty looking after the tool shed today."
The tool shed is located in a secluded side room, which used to seem to be a place for storing miscellaneous items, but now it has been cleaned up.
Rows of wooden shelves were filled with oddly shaped objects, mostly made of metal and glass, which gleamed with a cold, hard luster in the dim light.
Xia Yan walked to a wooden platform about half a person's height, which was covered with a piece of fine cotton cloth.
She carefully lifted the cotton cloth, revealing an exquisitely crafted brass instrument.
"This object is called a microscope. It was made in the wilderness and can magnify tiny objects hundreds or thousands of times," Xia Yan explained.
She skillfully used a slender silver needle to dab a small amount of liquid from a small glass dish next to her, placed it on a thin glass plate, and then covered it with another glass plate.
Then, she carefully placed the glass shard on the platform of the brass instrument and adjusted a few knobs.
"Dr. Feng, you can come first." Xia Yan specially distributed protective masks to everyone, and with the help of protective magic, she ensured that everything was safe before gesturing for them.
Feng Ming took a deep breath, and with a hint of trepidation, leaned close to the only eyepiece.
The next moment, he gasped sharply, his pupils shrinking!
All I could see were countless tiny particles of all shapes and sizes, densely packed together, some of them even wriggling slightly!
The scene was eerie and chilling! But it was exactly the same as what he had heard about the virus before! This plague virus really did exist!
Seeing his eldest disciple's outburst, Shangguan Qing became even more suspicious and couldn't help but move closer.
Xia Yan then moved aside.
When Shangguan Qing saw that unbelievable scene through the eyepiece, he was struck dumb and stood frozen on the spot!
He had never seen such a sight in his entire medical career!
"These are the root of the epidemic, called a virus," Xia Yan's voice rang out from the side, carrying a hint of solemnity.
"They are invisible to the naked eye, but can enter the human body through droplets, contact and other means."
"The human body is actually home to countless microorganisms that are invisible to the naked eye. Some coexist with humans, while others can cause disease."
"This virus is the best of the latter; once it invades, it will cause widespread destruction and trigger a variety of diseases."
Xia Yan tried her best to explain the principle of virus invasion in simple terms that they could understand.
Before she transmigrated, although she studied art, she still had some understanding of these basic scientific concepts.
Shangguan Qing felt his mind was ringing. Every word Xia Yan said was like a heavy hammer, slamming into his understanding!
His lips trembled and his legs went weak.
Sudden!
Thump!
Shangguan Qing knelt down straight on the ground and was about to kowtow to Xia Yan!
"I was blind to your greatness! I humbly beg the immortal master to accept me as your disciple and impart to me this miraculous medical skill!"
His voice was hoarse, yet filled with utmost piety and determination!
This kneeling gesture stunned everyone around!
Feng Ming, Qian Hao, and Sun Li, the three disciples, were dumbfounded and completely unable to react!
Master, Master, what are you doing?!
Xia Yan was startled and quickly took two steps back, waving her hands and saying, "Sir! What are you doing! Please get up!"
Her face flushed with anxiety. "I... I'm just an art student! A painter! I'm not a physics or chemistry student, and I'm definitely not a medical student!"
"All this knowledge was taught to me by Sister Zhongyan and Tong Yiwen from our barren mountain!"
"If you want to find a master, you should go to them!"
Xia Yan was flustered and wanted to help Shangguan Qing, but was afraid of being impolite.
