Outside the dilapidated temple, gray mist swirled and loomed.
More figures appeared in the mist; some crawled on the ground, their bodies twisted, while others staggered about like headless corpses.
These are all pustule monsters just like that man!
They wandered aimlessly across the ravaged land, and wherever they went, even the air seemed to become thick and foul.
The disaster victims, who had just begun to see a glimmer of hope, were plunged into despair once again.
"Here we go again..."
"So many, so many monsters..."
"It's over, we're completely finished..."
Despair washed over them once again like a tidal wave.
The golden light shield can protect them temporarily, but how long can it last?
Once the golden light fades, they will still be lambs to the slaughter!
…
Meanwhile, atop a distant, desolate mountain, inside a temple.
Yu Luo sat upright on the divine throne, his cold eyes piercing through the void, clearly reflecting the tragic scene in front of the dilapidated temple in Yunzhou.
She frowned slightly.
This Yunzhou has fallen into such chaos!
That so-called plague demon acted without any scruples and used extremely vicious methods.
This is clearly an attempt to turn the entire land of Yunzhou into a dead zone and a wasteland that breeds plague and monsters!
The State of Yan suffered a devastating flood, which damaged its national strength, yet the all-powerful Grand Tutor remained indifferent to the tragic situation.
Is it because they are powerless to attend to other matters, or...?
The power of this plague demon has already exceeded his control, and it may even be stronger than him.
Yu Luo's mind raced.
Since the Grand Preceptor of Yan is not taking any action, then let her take over Yunzhou!
She couldn't stand by and watch these countless lives become nourishment and playthings for the plague demon.
…
Inside the dilapidated temple.
Liang Shu was comforting the still-shaken child in her arms, while Niu San was watching the commotion outside the temple warily.
Suddenly, a distant and mysterious voice resounded deep within their minds.
The voice was gentle, yet carried an undeniable authority.
"To help as many disaster victims as possible."
“Build mountain god temples throughout Yunzhou and spread the faith.”
"The reinforcements for the barren mountain will arrive immediately."
Liang Shujiao's body trembled slightly, then she realized that this was the divine decree of the Mountain Goddess!
She lowered her head, her face showing utmost piety.
"Yes, Mountain Goddess!"
Niu San was also shaken, a fanatical light flashing in his eyes, and he nodded heavily as well.
The two slowly stood up, the shock and anger in their eyes fading, replaced by solemnity and determination.
Liang Shu looked around at the fearful and uneasy faces in the temple.
When the surviving victims saw her stand up, they assumed that this "immortal" with supernatural abilities was also leaving, and they panicked.
"Fairy Maiden! Fairy Maiden, don't go!"
"Please, please save us!"
"We kowtow to you! We can't live without you!"
In an instant, cries, pleas, and the sound of kowtowing filled the air.
They clung to Liang Shu and the three Niu brothers as if they were grasping at the last straw.
Liang Shu looked at them and said in a clear voice, "Everyone, there's no need to panic."
Her voice wasn't loud, but it reached everyone's ears clearly, carrying a calming power.
"We will not leave."
"The Mountain Goddess is merciful and has issued a divine decree."
"We will stay here and rebuild this dilapidated temple into a true mountain god temple to protect everyone!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire dilapidated temple fell silent.
The plague demons outside had already carried those newly transformed monsters to farther places, continuing to spread fear and plague.
Upon hearing Liang Shu's words, the disaster victims inside the temple were first stunned, then burst into immense joy!
Not leaving?
They want to build a temple too?
To build a temple for the mountain god?
The life-saving golden light just now came from that mountain goddess.
"That's wonderful! The fairy isn't leaving!"
"The Mountain Goddess has appeared! The Mountain Goddess is going to save us!"
"We want to help too! Let's repair it together! We pray to the Mountain Goddess for protection!"
An elderly man, who appeared to be the oldest, stepped forward shakily, tears streaming down his face.
"Fairy Maiden, benefactor! Let us do our part! Give us a chance to repay the kindness of the Mountain Goddess!"
"Yes! Let's fix it together!"
The crowd responded enthusiastically, their eyes rekindling with the will to survive.
They finally met someone who could protect them, and they finally saw hope, so naturally they wanted to hold on tight!
Liang Shu nodded, seeing the expectation in everyone's eyes.
"Alright! Let's all get to it!"
Thus, in this dilapidated temple protected by a golden light shield, a special project began.
The three Niu brothers were incredibly strong and were responsible for moving and clearing away the heavy, broken walls and ruins.
Liang Shu directed everyone to collect and rebuild the scattered stones.
The women went to a slightly cleaner place nearby, fetched soil, and mixed it with the last bit of water from a tattered water bag they had found somewhere. They then used the mixture to build the wall.
Many people had injuries, and some even showed obvious symptoms of the disease, such as skin ulcers and persistent coughing.
But they seemed to have forgotten the pain and the exhaustion.
Everyone was gritting their teeth and persevering; their movements were slow, but their eyes were incredibly determined.
They propped up the collapsed wall and reinforced it with stones and mud.
They patched up the damaged roof to provide shelter from the wind and rain.
Clean up the debris and filth inside the temple.
Niu San even found a relatively flat wooden board and carefully wiped it clean.
