Beneath the silver net, the wolf demons howled and rolled, but could not break free no matter what they did.
The divine net seemed to possess immense power, tightening ever more, causing them to howl in agony, and their demonic power was suppressed to the point of being completely unusable.
Just then, a clear, cold female voice came from high above.
“This net was bestowed by the Mountain Goddess. The more you struggle, the tighter it will tighten.”
The wolf demons struggled to raise their heads, and saw, in the moonlight, a woman dressed in a plain white dress, standing on a long, gleaming sword.
He hovered in mid-air, his robes fluttering, like an immortal.
Her expression was indifferent, her eyes cold, as she looked down at the wolf demons who were in a sorry state trapped in the net.
Behind her followed a woman with a seductive figure, a human body and a snake tail; she was none other than the infamous Snake Woman, the mine foreman of the desolate mountains.
The snake woman's eyes were shining, and the tip of her snake tail was trembling with excitement. Her voice was filled with uncontrollable ecstasy.
"Too many, Master Wan! There are just too many wolf demons! Each one is plump and strong, brimming with demonic power. How many new mines could we open up with that? Won't the output of our barren mountain increase several times over?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Wan's cold face remained completely expressionless. She simply said, "The Mountain Goddess has ordered that all these wolf demons are now in your care. Take good care of them and reform them."
Upon hearing this, the young wolf demon masters were nearly scared out of their wits.
Hearing the word "reform" in particular reminded them of certain bad rumors, and they immediately started crying and wailing.
"Fairy, spare us! Fairy, spare us!" The leader of the dark gold wolf demons, now devoid of any semblance of his former authority, pleaded with tears streaming down his face, "We truly didn't know this was the Mountain Goddess's territory! If we had known earlier, we wouldn't have dared to barge in even if we had a hundred lives!"
The second gray-haired brother screamed in agreement, "Yes, yes! We only heard that there were demons causing trouble in Yunzhou, and we wanted to get a share of the spoils. We never expected it to be the territory of the Mountain Goddess! Please, have mercy and spare our lives! We will never dare to do it again!"
The dark-skinned third brother even kowtowed directly: "We are willing to offer all our treasures, only begging the Mountain Goddess for mercy!"
Wang Wan's expression was calm, but her voice carried a hint of sarcasm: "Within Yunzhou, there are countless temples dedicated to mountain gods. Are you blind or deaf? How could you not see or hear them? Stop making excuses!"
Her tone turned cold: "Since you've set foot in Yunzhou, you should be prepared to offend the Mountain Goddess! Snake Woman, take them all away. I will not untie this binding net on them. When these wolf demons truly repent, the Mountain Goddess will decide their fate."
Upon hearing this, the snake woman rubbed her hands together excitedly, her tail swishing even more vigorously: "Alright! Master Wan, just you wait and see! I guarantee I'll take care of them perfectly, making them obedient!"
After saying that, the snake woman pulled out a dark green whip from somewhere, and with a flick of her wrist, she wrapped it around the huge silver net.
It flew towards the desolate mountains, like a fish being dragged in a net.
Along the way, the howls and pleas for mercy of the wolf demons were incessant, occasionally interspersed with the crisp sound of the snake woman's small leather whip cracking the air.
Soon after, the snake woman dragged the hundreds of wolf demons to a newly built mining area deep in the desolate mountains.
It was dark and damp, and the air was filled with a strange smell of sweat mixed with other odors.
Everywhere there were clanging and banging sounds, as well as the weak roars of monsters.
When the wolf demon young masters arrived, the silver nets split again, covering each wolf demon as if they were wearing a net.
Although the restrictions remain in place, at least I can stretch my muscles a little.
However, the next second, they witnessed a scene that made them break out in a cold sweat.
Not far away, at the entrance of a mine, a group of listless wolf demons were swinging their pickaxes, hammering away at the hard ore.
The leader of the dark gold wolf demons stared intently and exclaimed in shock, "Isn't that one of my brothers? How... how did it turn into this grotesque sight?"
Hearing the noise, the giant wolf struggled to raise its head. When it saw the Dark Gold Wolf Demon and its relatives, a look of confusion flashed in its eyes, followed by disbelief, and finally, overwhelming grievance.
"Big brother? Second brother! Third brother! Fourth brother! How come you're all here too..."
It let out a howl and cried out, dropping its pickaxe and scrambling towards the object.
The four wolf demon lords looked at their once spirited brother, now in such a miserable state.
Thinking about the fate that was about to befall him, he was overcome with grief and no longer cared about his dignity as the young master.
"Brother! We got scammed too!"
"Waaaaah, I knew I shouldn't have come to Yunzhou!"
A group of once-powerful wolf demons were now weeping bitterly in the dimly lit mine, embracing their good-for-nothing brother.
The cries were so heart-wrenching that they brought tears to the eyes of all who heard them!
Of course, the snake woman is an exception.
The snake woman, hands on her hips, looked at the wailing wolf demons and impatiently raised her whip: "What are you all crying for! You have the energy to wail but not to work?"
She pointed to a newly cleared area next to her and said to the wolf demon young masters, "Seeing how close you brothers are, I'll give you a new mining area all to yourself! Dig well for me! If you can't mine enough ore, you can expect to go hungry!"
As she spoke, she lashed the nearby rock with the leather whip that gleamed with an eerie light, sending sparks flying and startling the wolf demons.
"Anyone who dares to slack off, my whip doesn't discriminate!" The snake woman's eyes flashed coldly.
"Don't even think about running away. The Mountain Goddess's divine net of restrictions is not something you can break. Work obediently, and maybe you'll regain your freedom one day. Otherwise, you'll be mining for the rest of your life!"
The wolf demons looked at the whip in the snake woman's hand, then at the faintly glowing silver net-like markings on their bodies that bound their demonic power, and could only pick up their pickaxes from the ground with tears in their eyes.
Thus began their long and tragic mining career.
For a time, apart from the clanging sounds, the only sounds in the mine were the suppressed sobs of the wolf demons and the occasional shouts of the snake woman.
…
Yu Luo, dressed in a light purple retro dress, sat on a camellia branch next to the mountain god temple, resting her chin on her hand.
"Wang Wan is really fast! She caught them all so quickly."
The little system beside him nodded repeatedly, feeling that the host's actions were getting faster and faster.
"I feel warm all over, and I'm sleeping less!" The little sprite system blinked and circled around Yu Luo, very satisfied.
"Thanks to you for subduing so many time travelers and leading these people through several disasters!"
Yu Luo glanced at it, thinking to himself that this little system was no longer going to put on an act: "Don't be too happy yet. I've already calculated that there will be tornadoes and insect plagues next."
"Sigh, another big battle is brewing!"
Yu Luo quickly used divine thought to inform several believers he frequently contacted about the two impending disasters.
