"Don't worry, you'll be reunited with your sisters soon!"
The fish-headed monster's voice carried a hint of mockery, its tongue licking back and forth between its fangs, its eyes darting around.
Wang Wan stood ramrod straight, her gaze indifferent: "What do you want with the merfolk?"
The fish-headed monster blinked its big eyes twice, as if it had heard some huge joke.
"Haha, since you've come all this way, I might as well tell you!"
He slapped the throne, and his webbed paws splashed water.
"Legend has it that the true rulers of this sea are the merfolk! My parents tried to evolve in the shape of merfolk, but they failed, which is why we look like this now!"
As he spoke, he deliberately shook his tattered fishing net robe, looking both self-deprecating and smug.
"Once I find a real merman and devour it, I can complete the final step of my evolution and become a true sea god!"
He held his head high and puffed out his belly, looking rather comical.
"So, if you happen to be caught up in this and get eaten by me, that would be your honor!"
Wang Wan thought to herself, "So this guy and Xiao Guai really are from the same family. No wonder they look exactly alike, except their brains are a bit crooked."
A slight smile played on her lips: "Your brother has already become a believer in the Mountain Goddess, and now he is peacefully guarding the temple and protecting the people. I'll give you a chance to also submit to the Mountain Goddess, and I might even spare your life."
The fish-headed monster paused for a moment, then laughed loudly, flicking its tail on the bone chair and snapping off a seashell railing next to it.
"That good-for-nothing!"
He slammed his hand on the arm of the chair: "What right does a mere mountain god have to make me bow down and submit?"
"Little girl, are you out of your mind? You want me to believe in some mountain god? I was born to be the strongest god in the sea, and I am destined to dominate the four seas and eight wastelands!"
After he finished speaking, he deliberately spread his arms and waved them twice in the air, as if he was about to summon a storm.
The demons below all cowered and pretended to be dead, wishing they could bury themselves in the gravel. They dared not utter a sound, and none of them dared to look at Wang Wan even once.
Just then, a strange voice rang in Wang Wan's mind.
"The kidnapped women are hidden in a secret room on the third floor of the southwest side of the palace. There is a mechanism below that leads to a deep well. The key is inside the jade pendant on the fish-headed monster's waist."
Wang Wan's eyes flickered slightly, but she showed no sign of surprise, simply staring quietly at the fish-headed monster on the stage.
"Once we verify their identity, if they really are mermaids, we'll first skin them and remove their scales, then boil them into soup and drink the meat—"
Wang Wan interrupted, "If that's the case, then let's not waste any more time!"
Before she finished speaking, her right hand had already slipped into her sleeve, and an invisible sword aura silently arose like a swimming dragon.
A wisp of green light flashed and instantly condensed into shape.
The air suddenly froze, and the lights in the hall flickered on and off.
The next instant, a sword light, like moonlight, pierced through the dark blue shadows and slashed out diagonally from the void!
The sword energy was silent, yet colder than a cold wave.
Before any of the demons could even scream, they saw the once arrogant and domineering demon with wide eyes staring wide-eyed.
Then the entire enormous fish head rolled off, bounced twice on the seashell slab, and stopped at my feet, its big, unseeing eyes still wide open.
It seems I never imagined the ending would be so quick and so decisive!
An eerie silence fell over the hall. One of the crabs, its legs giving way, flipped over, its two pincers waving wildly in the air.
One of the little sirens almost got its tentacles tangled, whimpering softly, "It's over..."
Wang Wan sheathed her sword and stood there, her robes fluttering in the wind. She glanced down at the crowd and left only a cold remark.
"From this day forward, this sea area will be under the protection of the Mountain Goddess. Anyone who harms the people again will suffer this fate!"
She flicked her sleeve, tucked the jade pendant into her palm, and strode deeper into the palace.
Wang Wan had just taken two steps when a strange gurgling sound suddenly came from behind her.
She raised an eyebrow and paused slightly.
The fish head that had rolled to the ground began to twitch, and its once lifeless eyes suddenly rolled back.
A bloodcurdling scream erupted from the severed neck, more piercing than the ocean waves, shaking the seashells on the roof of the hall so much that they shattered and crumbled.
All the demons were terrified. One shrimp soldier even put his own armor on his head like a hat, trembling as he shrank into the corner.
The next moment, the headless corpse actually got up on its own, and its two webbed paws held its head and pressed it against its neck, snapping it back together with a click!
The fish-headed monster's face was even more ferocious than before, with protruding fangs and blood-red eyes.
He opened his mouth and let out a low growl: "You mere human, you dare to kill me?"
Before he finished speaking, his bones crackled and popped, as if someone were frying beans in a pot.
His body swelled up at a speed visible to the naked eye!
The fish-headed monster, which was originally only about ten feet tall, was now almost touching the dome of the main hall.
It wasn't over yet. His shoulders, arms, and tail grew thicker and thicker, and he grew half a foot taller with every breath!
Some timid little demons hurriedly clung to the pillar, but he casually swept them away, sending them flying like rag dolls and crashing into the wall, where they became murals.
Soon, the main hall could no longer contain the colossal beast.
His enormous fish head even broke through the eaves and peeked out from the palace roof.
Swaying in the night, it looks like a living lighthouse on the coastline.
The sea breeze swept in, carrying the stench throughout the palace. Several unfortunate souls nearly fainted from the stench, desperately covering their noses and weeping, "Mother, I'll never eat fish again..."
Wang Wan turned around without any panic. With a slight flick of her sleeves, silver light emerged from her palm, and a massive circular magic array instantly rose up, firmly covering the entire hall!
