Chapter 406 Spring Breeze Pavilion

The first thing Yu Luo felt upon regaining consciousness was excruciating pain.

Immediately following was a sharp and sarcastic shout from beside my ear.

"Let's see how you run now, you little slut!"

An old, hoarse male voice boomed in my ears.

"What's wrong with selling her to someone as a maid?"

"If others can do the work, why can't she?"

"So what if that young master touched you a few times? That's your honor! You good-for-nothing!"

A woman's voice immediately chimed in, her tone full of self-satisfied pride.

"That's right! Your father is right! If you can climb into the young master's bed and become his concubine, you'll be much more glamorous than your mother. What more could you want?"

Yu Luo did not move.

She didn't even open her eyes.

A memory that didn't belong to her, filled with pain and despair, suddenly rushed into her mind.

The original owner of this body was named Jiang Qi.

She was the seventh daughter born to a poor farming family.

In the eyes of these parents, their daughter was just merchandise.

The first six older sisters were either sold early or secretly drowned in a basin of water shortly after birth.

Jiang Qi is the youngest and also the least favored.

Not long ago, her parents sold her to a wealthy family in the county as a maid for two taels of silver.

That family was not a single person to be trifled with.

The master and mistress always felt that she had a foxy face and that she would seduce their precious son at such a young age.

That young master, deep down, enjoys torturing people.

He liked to splash her with scalding hot tea and whip her with a barbed whip. Watching the original owner writhe on the ground in pain would make him laugh with satisfaction.

Not a single patch of skin on Jiang Qi's body was intact.

She finally found an opportunity, crawled out of the dog hole of that house, and ran home as fast as she could.

She thought this was a safe haven, and that her parents would protect her.

As a result, she was met with an even more brutal beating.

Jiang Qi was tightly bound with hemp rope by his own father and almost suffocated.

At that moment, Yu Luo's consciousness landed on this dying body, saving her from her last breath.

She slowly opened her eyes.

What came into view were two cruel and distorted faces.

They didn't even bother to bend over; they just stood there with their hands on their hips, looking down at her condescendingly.

Yu Luo moved her fingers, feeling her new body.

It's very small, probably only five or six years old.

His body was covered with bruises and welts, some of which were still oozing blood and burning with pain.

Yu Luo was speechless.

What kind of beasts are those people?

How could someone be so cruel to such a young girl?

She raised her head, her eyes as calm as a bottomless ancient well, and looked indifferently at the couple.

Jiang's parents felt uneasy under her gaze.

Her gaze was too calm; it didn't seem like that of a five or six-year-old girl.

Old Man Jiang rubbed his arms, feeling a little guilty under his gaze, and spat fiercely.

"What are you looking at! You little slut, how dare you glare at your old man!"

Despite his tough talk, he subconsciously took a half step back and tugged at the sleeve of the woman next to him.

"Old woman, this girl seems a bit strange."

Jiang also felt a chill run down her spine and nodded repeatedly.

"I think it's been possessed by something unclean! We need to get rid of it quickly!"

Old Man Jiang's eyes darted around, he lowered his voice, and a calculating look appeared on his face.

"We can't sell to the county anymore, it's too close, and it'll be bad luck if they come back."

"Why not sell it further away, to the Spring Breeze Pavilion in the south!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang's eyes lit up immediately.

"That's a great idea! I heard that place pays a lot of money, and once she's in that kind of place, she'll never get out!"

The two hit it off immediately, completely disregarding the little girl on the ground who was barely alive.

As Yu Luo listened to their plans, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.

The body's injuries were too severe, and it had lost too much blood; it had reached its limit by surviving until now.

Consciousness sank into darkness once again.

…

When she woke up again, she was awakened by a noisy bargaining.

"Brother Jiang, aren't you setting me up?"

A middle-aged woman, heavily made up and looking to be in her forties, was pinching her nose and standing with her hands on her hips with a look of disgust on her face.

"This little girl may have a decent face, but she's covered in injuries and is exhaling more than she's inhaling. She's about to die!"

The madam stretched out her embroidered shoe and impatiently kicked Jiang Qi on the ground.

"Do you think I run a charity? If I buy a dying girl, do you expect me to give her a straw mat instead?"

Old Man Jiang and Mrs. Jiang stood to the side, bowing and scraping, their faces full of fawning smiles.

"Oh my goodness, Aunt Sun, look at this child! He's got a tough life! He wouldn't die even if he went hungry for days!"

"That's right, that's right! Just give her some food, and she'll be fine in a couple of days! She's definitely going to be a beauty!"

Sun's mother rolled her eyes so hard they almost flew to the sky.

"I have no shortage of beautiful girls here! You girls, I'd rather not offer yourselves to them than risk my luck!"

Old Man Jiang got anxious, gritted his teeth, and stuck out one finger.

"One tael! Madam Sun, just one tael of silver! Whether she lives or dies is none of our Jiang family's business if you take her away!"

Mother Sun chuckled, took out a piece of silver from her sleeve, and casually tossed it on the ground with a crisp sound.
