Chapter 426 Abandoning the City

In Liucheng, inside the General's Mansion, Jiang Yaoming was embracing his newly acquired concubine, drinking and making merry.

"General, the Peacock Kingdom has attacked again!" A soldier rushed in, his voice trembling with tears.

Jiang Yaoming dropped his wine glass with a clatter, splashing wine all over himself.

"What?!" He jumped to his feet, his face ashen. "Didn't we already sue for peace?!"

"General, this time, this time it's an army of 100,000!" The personal guard almost knelt down.

Jiang Yaoming's mind was buzzing. One hundred thousand troops! The few men under his command were simply throwing their lives away!

He frantically pushed aside his concubine and stumbled as he ran outside.

"Quick! Pack your things! Run!" he roared, directing his personal guards.

Outside the mansion, the people, upon hearing the news, began to panic, and the streets descended into chaos.

An old woman carrying a basket of vegetables stumbled and spilled them all over the ground. She tried to squat down to pick them up, but accidentally blocked Jiang Yaoming's way.

"Get out of my way! You bunch of lowly people, don't block my path!" Jiang Yaoming kicked the vegetable basket away, sending the vegetables scattering all over the ground.

The old woman was so frightened that she stumbled and fell to the ground, watching helplessly as Jiang Yaoming, with his personal guards, rushed out of the crowd without looking back.

Before nightfall, Jiang Yaoming, along with a few trusted guards, like stray dogs, scrambled down the towering city wall of Liucheng and disappeared.

Outside the city gate, a large army from the "Peacock Kingdom" marched in to the city.

They were fully armed and carrying swords and spears. The leading general rode a tall horse and arrogantly pointed at the city gate.

"You rats of Yan! Open the gates and surrender at once!" These people shouted, their voices filled with contempt.

"Otherwise, we will raze Liucheng to the ground, leaving not a single chicken or dog alive!"

On the city wall of Liucheng, the soldiers guarding the city looked at each other, their faces pale.

Their general has fled, leaving them without command or orders.

The people inside the city also heard the commotion outside, and they were all filled with despair.

"It's over, we're all going to die..." someone sobbed softly.

"The general has run away, what are we going to do!" The soldiers began to panic.

On a hilltop not far away, Yu Luo held a telescope, taking in the scenery inside and outside Liucheng.

A smile played on her lips as she softly said to the soldiers around her, "That's enough, bring the person over."

No sooner had he finished speaking than several soldiers escorted Jiang Yaoming and his personal guards over.

Jiang Yaoming was tied up tightly, and when he saw Yu Luo, his eyes blazed with fury.

"It was you! It was you, you wretched woman, who did this!" he cursed. "You brought the Peacock Kingdom here!"

Yu Luo chuckled softly, her eyes cold and aloof.

"Yes, it was me who did it." She admitted frankly, her tone tinged with sarcasm.

"But who told you to be so easily frightened? The enemy hasn't even really arrived yet, and you're already running away."

She paused, then added, "If you hadn't escaped so quickly, I really wouldn't have been able to catch you so easily."

Jiang Yaoming was so angry that he trembled all over, and his face turned as red as a pig's liver.

"You will be punished! The Peacock Kingdom will soon conquer Willow City and kill you all!" he cursed hoarsely.

"Do you even know how powerful those people are? Our Yan Kingdom can never defeat them! Those people are more terrifying than demons and monsters; their weapons can explode! Do you even understand?"

Yu Luo laughed even more heartily.

"Who said that?" she retorted.

Just then, a group of people dressed as soldiers from the Peacock Kingdom ran out of the forest.

They ran straight to Yu Luo and knelt down on one knee in unison.

"Greetings, General!" they shouted in unison.

Jiang Yaoming stared at the scene before him, his eyes wide as saucers.

He couldn't understand why these Peacock Kingdom soldiers would kneel before Yu Luo.

Overwhelmed by rage, Jiang Yaoming felt a sudden darkness before his eyes and fainted.

On the walls of Liucheng, the people and soldiers remained in a state of panic.

Just then, a figure appeared on the city wall.

Yu Luo stood at the highest point of the city wall, her figure appearing exceptionally upright in the morning light.

She took a deep breath and shouted loudly using a makeshift megaphone she had made herself.

"People of Liucheng! Soldiers of Yan!" Her voice was loud and firm.

"I am Jiang Hongying, the daughter of former General Jiang!"

"I personally led everyone to victory in that battle against the Peacock Kingdom!"

Upon hearing this name, the soldiers on the city wall and the people inside the city all looked up, their eyes filled with disbelief.

“Now, my good-for-nothing brother has actually deserted his post and abandoned Liucheng!” Yu Luo’s voice was filled with pain and anger.

"I, Jiang Hongying, will never let Liucheng fall into enemy hands!"

"I am willing to lead the charge and fight alongside all the soldiers and the people of Liucheng against the enemy!"

Her voice was powerful and resonant, carrying a strong sense of charisma.

The soldiers, who had been in despair, had their eyes rekindled with hope.

"General Jiang!" someone shouted excitedly.

"We are willing to follow General Chiang!" more soldiers shouted in unison.

"Open the city gates!" Yu Luo ordered.

The city gates slowly opened, and Yu Luo, clad in armor and wielding a long sword, was the first to rush out.

The soldiers behind them followed closely, shouting as they charged toward the "Peacock Kingdom soldiers" outside the city.

Outside the city, the "Peacock Kingdom soldiers," following Yu Luo's instructions, pretended to wail and scream as they fled in terror under the attack of the Yan Kingdom soldiers.

They abandoned their armor and weapons, turned around in a sorry state, and ran back the way they came, as if they had truly been routed by the Yan army.
