There isn't much black energy in these places.
Those irrational demons were quickly eliminated.
Zhang Li and Liu Cuihua busied themselves, distributing clean clothes and food to them, repeatedly saying the same thing.
"Don't be discouraged. As long as we are sincere, the Empress will not abandon us."
"Live well, we'll all be family from now on."
After spreading the message to these believers, Shenzhou set sail again.
The Shenzhou spacecraft broke through the black fog and sailed towards more distant seas.
…
Several days later, based on the map, they discovered land.
This time, however, everyone looked somber.
According to the map, this Peacock Kingdom was a relatively powerful country located on the western coast.
However, what met the eye was endless darkness.
The black aura was so dense it was almost tangible, slowly writhing like a giant beast ready to devour its prey.
Even the golden divine light emanating from the Shenzhou could only barely tear a tiny opening at its edge.
"Is this place beyond saving?"
A believer murmured to himself, his voice trembling slightly.
Wang Wan stood at the bow of the boat, her brows furrowed.
Her spiritual sense reached out, but it was like a mud ox entering the sea, instantly swallowed up by the viscous black mist.
Something's not right.
She said coldly.
"There's something strange about the black mist here."
Xia Yan also came over. She closed her eyes and sensed it for a moment, and her face instantly turned pale.
"All the elements here are polluted; they are actively eroding life!"
The Shenzhou spacecraft slowly docked at the shore.
Surprisingly, there were still people moving around on the port.
They were dressed in uniform gray uniforms, their faces expressionless, mechanically carrying some black ore, completely ignoring the arrival of the Shenzhou.
Wang Wan's eyes narrowed.
"The walking dead".
"Their souls have been corrupted by the black energy."
She glanced back.
"Lin Anniang, Xia Yan, Chen Shuiyi, Jiang Dashan, you all come down with me."
"The others will stay on Shenzhou to rescue any potential survivors."
Upon receiving the order, Chen Shuiyi vanished from the spot in a flash.
A moment later, she reappeared, her expression equally grim.
"There's a cave down there, where many people are hiding. Their auras are mixed, but none of them are ordinary people."
Wang Wan nodded and, without hesitation, led the way in jumping off the Shenzhou.
The group landed silently, avoiding the apathetic crowd, and quickly found the underground entrance that Liang Shu had mentioned.
It was a huge metal door disguised as ruins.
Xia Yan stretched out her hand, and pale blue magic runes appeared in her palm. She gently placed them on the metal door.
"It has energy protection, very weak, but the structure is very intricate, something that shouldn't exist in this world."
Lin Anniang didn't stand on ceremony and walked straight forward.
"I'll do it."
She took a deep breath, aimed her muscular arm at the metal door hinge, and slammed her fist down.
"Clang!"
With a loud crash, the sturdy alloy door hinge deformed instantly, and the entire door collapsed, crooked and halfway down.
The people inside were clearly startled by the sudden commotion.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Wang Wan and the others slipped inside and quickly concealed their presence.
There is a hidden world underground.
Bright lights, tidy corridor.
Researchers in white coats came and went, along with a number of sophisticated instruments flashing indicator lights.
This place turned out to be a huge underground research institute.
The group exchanged glances, all seeing the surprise in each other's eyes.
Further down the corridor, behind a huge glass curtain wall, came the sound of a heated argument.
"I disagree! Look at the latest data, the symbiotes' emotions are becoming increasingly unstable! This isn't salvation, it's creating monsters!"
A young man slammed his fist on the table in excitement.
"What's the difference between people who survive like this and the zombies outside?"
Across from him, a female PhD student with a cold and aloof demeanor, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, pushed up her glasses, her eyes icy.
"Do you have a better idea, Dr. Li?"
"If we don't guide and control them, they will completely degenerate into those mindless monsters outside. Is that what you want?"
A somewhat timid-looking man next to him said in a low voice.
"We can wait. Maybe other countries will send aid..."
The female PhD student let out a sneer, as if she had heard the biggest joke in the world.
"Rescue?"
"It's no use. The neighboring countries are already too busy to help themselves, and no one can save us."
At this moment, another person hesitated before speaking.
"I've heard that there seem to be gods in this world..."
The words had barely left his mouth when they drew a fierce rebuttal from another researcher.
"Gods? Don't be naive! They're all lies, just powerful demons!"
"If there really is a God, why doesn't He come to save us? Why does He just stand by and watch this world turn into hell?"
The man became more and more agitated as he spoke, pointing at everyone present.
"We all traveled here not long ago, don't you know? Humans can conquer nature!"
"Only we ourselves can save us! Only these instruments that traveled with us! Continue our research, try to coexist with this dark energy, and find a path to evolution. This is what the apocalypse should be like!"
The group argued incessantly, and no one could convince anyone else.
Wang Wan and the others, who were hiding to the side, finally understood completely.
These time travelers intend to save themselves in their own way.
