Just as Zhou Peng was about to collapse on the ground to catch his breath and celebrate, Wang Wan's cold voice rang out again.
"A new coordinate signal has appeared three kilometers to the southeast, indicating a strength of seven people. Your first official mission is to rescue them and recruit new followers for the Mountain Goddess. Depart immediately!"
Before she finished speaking, Wang Wan flicked her finger, and a holographic compass appeared in front of the five people, with a flashing red dot clearly marking the target location.
Zhang Wenhua jolted awake, his muscles, which had just relaxed, tensed up instantly.
He glanced at his equally bewildered teammates, took a deep breath, pushed his gold-rimmed glasses, which were already cracked, up his nose, and his expression became more determined than ever before.
"Received! Mission accomplished!"
Zhou Peng wailed, "Boss, give me some time to go back to town and resupply! My mana bar is almost empty!"
"Shenzhou will continue to provide you with power replenishment," Wang Wan's figure gradually faded away, leaving only one sentence.
"Remember, you are now messengers of the Mountain Goddess, representing the dignity of Tianyu Divine Mountain."
The five people looked at each other in bewilderment.
"Alright," Zhang Wenhua chuckled wryly, dusting himself off. "We've just been promoted and we're already working on KPIs. Everyone, get on board! Zhou Peng, you're in charge of the assault! Li Sisi, calculate the optimal path as needed. Wang Dali and Zhao Jing, you two are responsible for supporting the left and right flanks and maintaining formation!"
He's already in the zone.
A group of people, dragging their weary bodies, once again plunged into the distant black fog.
…
The black fog in this place was so thick that you could hardly see your hand in front of your face.
"Watch out!" Li Si gripped the "Five-Year College Entrance Examination, Three-Year Simulation" book tightly, her other hand rapidly gesturing in the air. Suddenly, her eyes lit up as if she were calculating something: "High alert ahead! Everyone be careful!"
Zhou Peng rushed over excitedly: "I'm going to fight high-energy elite monsters! Manager, give me a buff!"
A flash of light appeared in Zhang Wenhua's hand, and a faint light instantly enveloped the entire team.
Soon, the stocky young man Wang Dali let out another muffled roar and slammed his hands onto the water.
In the floodwaters, thick walls made of mud rose from the ground.
Countless tentacles, the sea monster emanating black mist hissed and twisted as it lunged forward.
Zhao Jing, a quiet and taciturn short-haired girl, clasped her hands together, and dozens of water arrows shot out, accurately hitting the sea cucumber demons and slowing them down.
"Now!" Li Si screamed.
"Watch me flash in!"
Zhou Peng's figure vanished from his spot in an instant, and the next second he appeared in front of the open maw of a sea monster.
The longsword that materialized in his hand shone with a dazzling red light.
With a soft "pfft".
The blade pierced precisely into the core, and the sea cucumber spirit let out a shrill scream. Its entire body went limp like a deflated balloon, turning into wisps of black smoke.
Zhou Peng turned his hand over and aimed the silver metal bottle at his waist at the black mist, collecting it all into the bottle.
"Done! Next!" He grinned, revealing a set of white teeth, his face covered in grime.
A group of people were methodically cleaning up the evil spirits and collecting the black energy, while several suppressed exclamations came from not far away.
Zhang Wenhua looked up and saw several heads crowding together on the high ground not far away, staring in this direction in fear.
A thought struck him, and he shouted, "Listen up, people up there! We are believers of Tianyu Divine Mountain, sent by the Mountain Goddess to rescue you! You are safe!"
…
The battle ended quickly.
The seven survivors had been rescued; they were all pale-faced and ragged.
The girl in the lead was wearing a pink puff-sleeved dress.
Her dress was torn in several places, and there were tear stains on her face, but her eyes were exceptionally stubborn.
Her name is Sophie, and she is a well-known fashion blogger.
Beside him was a boy with dyed silver hair and an earring, dressed in trendy clothes, but he was terrified and his body was trembling like a leaf.
There was also a girl named Chen Xue who wore glasses and looked quiet and gentle, as well as four other adults who looked frightened.
They looked at the five rescuers in front of them and were speechless for a moment.
Of the five men, one wore a tattered suit like a beggar elder, another had his hair singed yellow, and the other three were covered in soot. They didn't look like they came from a regular military unit at all.
But they were really fighting a monster, and they won.
"Who are you?" Sophie asked, her voice still trembling.
Zhang Wenhua cleared his throat, trying to appear more professional.
He fumbled in the inside pocket of his tattered suit for a while, but found nothing, so he could only cough awkwardly.
“Don’t be afraid, we’re not bad people.” He gave a kind smile. “We’re just like you, we’ve been through this before. It’s just that we’re very lucky to have received the protection of the Mountain Goddess.”
"Mountain Goddess?" Liu Yu blinked, adjusting his crooked earring. "What the hell? Feudal superstition?"
"Insolence!" Zhou Peng glared and took a step forward. The murderous aura emanating from him, still fresh from a battle, made Liu Yu instinctively take a half-step back.
"You know nothing!" Zhou Peng pointed to the halo around himself that was still faintly glowing.
"See that? This is divine power! It was given by the Mountain Goddess! Let me tell you, the Goddess is the most powerful GM in the world. Believing in her is like having a VIP account with the highest privileges! Understand?"
Sophie, Chen Xue, and the others were bewildered by his string of incomprehensible words.
Li Si walked over, adjusted her glasses, and said in a calm tone, "According to the intelligence we currently have, this world is being invaded by higher-dimensional beings from another dimension, with demons and evil spirits as their vanguard. We transmigrators are like beacons sent by gods from another world. If we don't shield ourselves, we will only attract more powerful enemies or be used as sacrifices."
