Niu Niu's mother's eyes were already cloudy, and when she saw her daughter pleading so earnestly, she subconsciously opened her cracked lips.
The uncle sneered from the side, arms crossed, looking on with amusement: "They've gone mad! They've all gone mad! If they eat this weird stuff, they'll be foaming at the mouth in a minute. Don't blame me for not warning them!"
The girl ignored everything and used all her strength to stuff the fragrant pill into her mother's mouth.
The pill melted instantly in the mouth, transforming into a warm, golden stream that slid down the throat and into the stomach.
Soon, something amazing happened!
The middle-aged woman coughed violently, but instead of blood, she coughed up clumps of foul-smelling, black, stagnant blood.
Her originally sallow complexion became rosy at a visible speed, and her dry, bark-like skin gradually regained its luster.
In just a few breaths, the woman who had been barely breathing, as if she was about to die, suddenly sat up!
She looked down in disbelief at her hands, which had regained their color, then suddenly looked up and hugged her daughter tightly, hot tears streaming down her face.
“Niu Niu, my Niu Niu! Mommy is all better! Mommy is really all better!” She choked up, her voice filled with lingering fear.
The other two people in the room had their mouths agape, wide enough to fit an egg.
The sarcasm on his uncle's face froze, his eyes widening as if he had seen a ghost.
My aunt rubbed her eyes, not even noticing the wooden box in her hand fall to the ground with a thud.
"How is this possible?!" Auntie screamed, the first to react.
The uncle's eyes instantly turned greedy. He rushed to the bedside, grabbed Niu Niu's arm, and his voice changed: "Tell me! Where did these pills come from?! Where's that stall?!"
"It hurts! Uncle, let me go!" Niu Niu cried out in pain from being gripped.
"You brat, tell me!" Uncle's eyes reddened with anxiety. "If we could get our hands on this miracle drug and sell it to those rich lords in the city, one pill could be worth a mountain of gold! We'd be rich! We'd be set!"
Upon seeing this, the mother, who had just regained her strength, blazed with unprecedented fury.
She shoved her younger brother aside, shielding Niu Niu tightly behind her, her voice icy: "Let go of my daughter! You won't get away with this!"
The uncle stumbled from the push, but instead of getting angry, he smiled even more obsequiously: "Sister, my dear sister! Look, you're all better now, that's wonderful news! We're family, so of course we should share the profits! Quick, tell us where that stall is, or someone else will get there first!"
The family struggled and pulled, but in the end, the uncle and aunt, blinded by greed, dragged them away and hurriedly headed towards the inconspicuous stall on the street corner.
…
Yu Luo's blind box stall remained deserted.
The steamed bun stall next door was bustling with activity, with a long queue stretching almost to the end of the street.
Just then, the uncle pulled his family through the crowd and rushed up to Yu Luo, panting. He rubbed his hands together, his face full of fawning smiles.
"Boss! Boss! I want all of these boxes! Name your price!" he said, pointing to the dozens of wooden boxes on the table with great arrogance.
Yu Luo didn't even lift her eyelids, continuing to slowly fan herself with her palm-leaf fan, her voice as calm as water: "I don't sell my things to unscrupulous people."
The smile on his uncle's face froze instantly.
His aunt, standing next to him, immediately put her hands on her hips and shrieked, "Hey! How can you talk like that? What do you mean by 'unethical person'? We came here sincerely to buy your things, and you're still being picky? I think this lousy box of yours is a complete fraud. Are you feeling guilty now?"
That shout immediately attracted the attention of everyone around. The line for steamed buns stopped, and everyone curiously craned their necks to look.
"What happened?"
"It seems like the guy who sells broken boxes got into an argument with someone."
"I told you she was a scammer. Three copper coins apiece, anyone who buys it is a fool."
Just as everyone was discussing the matter, Niu Niu, who was being protected by her mother, saw Yu Luo being misunderstood and her face turned red with anxiety.
She mustered her courage and shouted, "Sister, you're not a liar! My mother's illness was cured after taking the pills from your box! She was almost dying just now, but now she can walk on her own!"
The child's innocent voice carried clearly throughout the entire street.
Upon hearing this, the uncle nearly jumped out of his skin. He whirled around and roared at Niu Niu, "What nonsense are you spouting, you brat! How can you just tell people something like this?!"
After he finished shouting, he realized he had misspoke. He looked around and saw that everyone had fallen silent and stared at them with shocked expressions.
The uncle was filled with remorse. He lowered his voice and gritted his teeth as he said to Niu Niu's mother, "Look at the good daughter you raised! With so many people hearing this, how can we possibly get rich now!"
However, it was too late.
After three seconds of silence, the crowd erupted completely.
"What? Is what she said true?"
"The medicine in the box saved people who were on the verge of death?"
"My God! What else could this be but a miracle drug?!"
"Stop queuing for steamed buns! Go buy some boxes instead!"
"Give me one! No! Give me ten!"
The crowd that was originally surrounding the steamed bun stall instantly turned around and surged towards Yu Luo's stall, as if they were about to overturn the entire stall.
The system was completely dumbfounded, forgetting to even move the clamp in its hand.
Just as the situation was about to spiral out of control, Yu Luo slowly stood up.
She didn't raise her voice, but it reached everyone's ears clearly, carrying an undeniable authority.
