Chapter 67 Rescue the Grain Team

Linjia Village.

After receiving news of the grain merchant's impending arrival, Old Mrs. Lin immediately sent someone to greet him.

Not long after Lin Anniang set off with Cui Ying and Zhang Niangzi, they spotted a grain transport team in the mountains near the barren hills.

This grain transport team, which set off from Chongzhou, did not encounter the three major grain merchants who tried to intercept them, but instead ran into a group of mountain bandits.

The bandits hid on the distant mountain. They saw that this grain transport team was not to be trifled with, but they did not want to give up so much grain. So they cut off the mountain road, dug a deep pit to block the grain team's way, and filled the mountain with huge stones.

The road is very narrow, situated between two towering mountain peaks, and the terrain is extremely steep, making it virtually impossible to turn around easily.

As soon as the grain convoy arrived, they threw down a hail of stones, which rolled out with a thunderous roar like thunder falling from the sky.

Everyone was terrified, even the men with knives looked fearful.

They were not afraid of the bandits' attacks, but they were terrified of this disaster that fell from the sky; the force of those boulders was something that ordinary people could not withstand.

Just as everyone was filled with despair, Lin Anniang jumped down from the distant hillside with Cui Ying.

"Mother, don't come any closer! It's too dangerous here!" Wu Deyun saw his mother jump over and his heart jumped into his throat.

Although the Wu family was once a family of military generals, they had long since declined, which is why they came to this small village and went into hiding.

These younger generation members did indeed learn martial arts from a young age, but their mother had married into the family from another place and was past the prime age for martial arts training. She hadn't practiced much martial arts at all, so how could she possibly deal with these huge falling rocks?

"Run!" The grain merchant, being kind-hearted, saw that he couldn't escape, so he shouted at the two women to try and help them get away.

However, the two women seemed not to hear them and instead quickly ran towards the side.

Both of them were carrying wooden statues of the Mountain Goddess. Lin Anniang, who was in the lead, put on a horse stance and kicked at the falling rocks.

She didn't use any special techniques; she simply used her fierce brute force to kick all the boulders that fell beside her to pieces, leaving only some fragments to fall on the faces of those around her.

As for Cui Ying, she manipulated a dozen or so fire snakes, skillfully enveloping the falling rocks and transferring them to other locations.

In a short time, the man-made rockfall disaster was cleared away, leaving only a group of tall, burly men dumbfounded.

As for the bandits, they also realized something was wrong.

These bandits hadn't planned much to begin with, and now, having witnessed the woman's strange power, they were terrified and had no will to fight. They ran as fast as they could and quickly disappeared from sight.

At the foot of the mountain, Zhong Heng, a grain merchant from Chongzhou, clutched his heart, unable to recover for a long time.

The initial shock of falling rocks, followed by the two women's extraordinary abilities, made their hearts race.

"mother!"

"Heroine!"

Wu Deyun and the grain merchant next to him ran over together, but the grain merchant knelt down on the ground with a thud.

"Heroines, thank you for saving my life!"

"We can never repay your life-saving grace. Take as much food as you need!"

Zhongheng's eyes lit up.

"If all else fails, I'll even offer myself to you! I'm really open to marrying into your family!"

"What are you doing?" Wu Deyun, usually so composed, instantly bristled at the sight of the other man's gaze. "That's my mother!"

Zhong Heng finally realized what was happening, but he was very thick-skinned and turned to look at Lin Anniang next to him.

Lin Anniang said coldly, "I already have three children."

Zhongheng was filled with regret. He should have come to Qingzhou sooner. What if he had met these two chivalrous women earlier?

"Are you all alright?" Lin Anniang ignored him and instead turned to look at the other people in the group.

The group of men all shook their heads. They hadn't been directly hit by the falling rocks, so how could they have been injured?

Even if there was an injury, it was just a minor scratch from an accident. Can that be considered a wound?

"In that case, let's hurry up and leave with the grain. Old Madam Gongsun is already waiting."

"There's no need to be too grateful. If it weren't for the Mountain Goddess, I wouldn't have saved you at all."

If it weren't for the Mountain Goddess, Lin Anniang felt she would have already died, so how could she possibly have a chance to save people here?

"You also know Old Madam Gongsun?" Zhong Heng asked, taken aback.

He quickly slapped himself hard. These two women were clearly related to Wu Deyun and Zhang Chongjiu in the group. How could they not recognize Old Lady Gongsun?

"Child, child, are you alright?" Zhang Niangzi ran over from not far away.

The three of them were originally together, but Zhang Niangzi was not able to resist the falling rocks, so Lin Anniang put her in a very safe place.

Now that the danger of falling rocks has passed, she has taken the initiative to come out.

Madam Zhang came to Zhang Chongjiu's side, carefully examined her son, and then nodded.

"It's alright, just a minor injury. I think it happened when we were welcoming that grain merchant?"

Zhang Chongjiu: "..."

His mother's guess was spot on; the injury was indeed from the previous encounter with the robbers.

"Mother, Ade's injuries are more serious. Please help him. He was injured while saving me!"

Zhang Chongjiu also felt a little guilty. He had been saved by his good brother again, and he should work hard to practice martial arts from now on!
