Chapter 480 Not for Sale

The burly man's body was quickly dragged away by the constables who arrived after hearing the news, and a faint smell of blood still lingered in the air.

The people who had just been scoffing at Yu Luo now formed a queue that stretched from one end of the street to the other, making the steamed bun stall next door seem rather deserted in comparison.

However, the system showed no displeasure whatsoever. Instead, it looked at the stall with great interest, muttering to itself, "Looks like selling blind boxes is pretty good! It's fun!"

Yu Luo looked at the crowd in front of her and told them to take the wooden box themselves.

Around them, small groups of people were discussing the matter.

"Hey, did you hear? That guy really did push his wife into a well three years ago! My aunt's second nephew lives next door. The constables went to verify it just now, and they found out as soon as they asked him!"

"My goodness! This girl is a living goddess! She can see right through people!"

"He's more than a god, he's practically a savior for us ordinary people! If he had come sooner, how many wrongful convictions and miscarriages of justice could have been avoided?"

The group was buzzing with excitement, everyone's face beaming with anticipation.

Just then, a commotion came from the back of the line. Several well-dressed young people, waving folding fans, led a few servants who looked like they were not to be trifled with, and swaggered through the crowd to squeeze to the front of the line.

The leader was a young man dressed in a royal blue brocade robe, with a lustrous and translucent Hetian jade pendant at his waist, which was obviously very valuable.

The people around him were also dressed in fine silks and satins, their faces full of arrogance and impatience.

"Get out of the way! What kind of junk is this that deserves such a long queue? You're interrupting my tea time!" A servant rudely pushed aside the old man blocking his way.

The people in the group dared not speak out in anger and could only give way.

The young man in the blue robe walked to the middle of the group, grabbed a man who was bragging to his companion about what had just happened, and frowned as he asked, "Hey, what's going on here? Why are you all so eager to help a guy selling broken wooden boxes?"

The man was about to lash out, but upon seeing the other man's clothes and the wicked servant behind him, he immediately shrank back and could only force a smile, saying, "Young master, you didn't see it! Just now... just now..."

A talkative auntie nearby chimed in, vividly describing the scene: "Young master, you wouldn't believe it! Just now, there was a man who didn't believe in superstitions and insisted on buying it. This young lady just glanced at him and revealed his shameful secret of murdering his wife three years ago! The burly man was enraged and tried to attack her, but before his fist even touched her, he vomited black blood and convulsed to death! It was like he was possessed!"

After hearing this, the young man in the blue robe exchanged glances with his companions and then burst into laughter.

"Hahahaha! Murdered his wife? And you saw right through it? Keep making things up!"

"They've really gone all out with hiring shills, even using a dead person! They've really spared no expense!" Another young man in an apricot-colored robe pointed at Yu Luo's stall with his fan, his face full of sneer. "This kind of swindling trick can only fool peasants like you!"

The young man in the blue robe laughed so hard he almost fell over: "Come on, let's go! Let's meet this living goddess today. I want to see if she can figure out what we've done!"

Having said that, the group of people had no more scruples. They broke up the line, pushed aside the people blocking their way, and swaggered to Yu Luo's stall.

The once orderly procession was thrown into disarray by them. Everyone glared angrily, but dared not step forward because of the other party's power.

Yu Luo remained seated on the small stool, slowly fanning herself with a palm-leaf fan, as if the farce unfolding before her had nothing to do with her.

Her blue robe fluttered gently in the breeze, and in the sunlight, the faint gold patterns on the robe became clearer than before.

The young man in the blue robe walked to the table, tapped it with his fan, raised his chin, and said in a condescending tone, "Hey, I'll take all of this box. Name your price."

Yu Luo finally raised her eyelids, her calm, still eyes looking at them quietly. Her gaze was indifferent, yet it seemed to penetrate their skin and look directly into their souls.

Her voice reached everyone's ears clearly, her tone cold: "I will not sell to the rich and heartless. I will not sell to the extremely wicked and evil."

The wealthy young men laughed even more unrestrainedly, as if they had heard the funniest joke in the world.

"You call us rich and heartless? Utterly wicked?" The young man in the blue robe laughed until tears almost streamed down his face.

"Where's the evidence? You think you can just spout off like that? I'm standing right here today. If you can't come up with a coherent explanation, I'll smash up your stall, take you to the authorities, and accuse you of spreading heresy!"

"Yes! Show us the evidence!" His companions behind him chimed in.

The surrounding people were on tenterhooks, sweating for Yu Luo. These people were clearly influential figures in the Peacock Kingdom, not to be trifled with.

However, Yu Luo only smiled slightly, a smile that carried a hint of pity and a hint of mockery.

"Evidence?" she asked softly, her gaze sweeping over the well-dressed young people. "You knew about the impending arrival of evil spirits before the black aura descended, didn't you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the laughter of those young masters stopped abruptly, and their expressions froze instantly.

Yu Luo did not stop; her voice remained calm, yet every word was piercing.

"It was your family that colluded with the messenger of that evil god, attempting to lure those demons to the Peacock Kingdom and use the monsters' power to seize greater power for themselves. Unfortunately, they played with fire and got burned, ultimately being devoured and turning the entire Peacock Kingdom into ruins, with millions of lives reduced to ashes."

"If your family hadn't learned in advance that the plan was going out of control and fled as a whole clan, how could you still be living a life of luxury and extravagance?"

The words fell.

The faces of those wealthy young men changed from red to green, a truly fascinating sight.

The blue-robed young man at the head of the group dropped his folding fan with a clatter to the ground, and swayed as if he had seen a ghost.

The other young master was so frightened that he took a step back, his eyes filled with disbelief and terror.

This matter is the most important secret of their family! Even the younger generation only learned about it by chance after fleeing to Liang Kingdom, when their fathers were drunk. They dared not mention it on ordinary days!

How did this seemingly ordinary woman know all this?
