When the story was finished, a brief silence fell over the room.
The woman seemed to be thinking about something. After a moment, she spoke softly, "I see. Don't worry, it's very safe here. My name is Lin Yue, and I am the owner of this island."
Lin Yue smiled and invited them to rest in the cabin on the island, saying that she would provide them with the food and water they needed.
A warm feeling welled up in Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen's hearts, and they were filled with gratitude for Lin Yue's kindness.
They followed Lin Yue into the cozy little house.
Inside the cabin, Lin Yue warmly prepared a sumptuous meal and refreshing spring water for them.
In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, the two sides began further exchanges.
Through their conversation, Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen learned that Lin Yue lived alone on the island and, for some reason, was unwilling to leave.
"Why are those people hunting you down?" Lin Yue asked curiously, her eyes revealing a thirst for knowledge.
Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen hesitated for a moment. Faced with Lin Yue's sincerity and kindness, they decided to keep only half of the truth to themselves and reveal only a portion of it.
Lin Yue listened intently, and when she heard the legend about the mysterious treasure, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, as if she had seen a glimmer of light in the darkness. "I never thought there would be such a legend..." she murmured to herself, seemingly having a special interest in the story.
Lin Yue seemed to know something, but didn't say much.
Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen keenly noticed her reaction and realized that Lin Yue might know more clues about the treasure.
However, before fully understanding each other's backgrounds, they decided to remain cautious for the time being and wait for the right opportunity to explore the topic in more depth.
At night, Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen rested in the hut.
Moonlight streamed through the window, casting soft shadows on the ground.
The room was quiet, with only the soft breathing of the two people.
However, in the middle of the night, a sudden noise broke the tranquility.
The sound echoed in the silent night sky, as if it would tear the entire island apart.
Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen were instantly awakened. They sat up alertly, exchanged a glance, and then rushed outside with their weapons in hand.
Upon exiting the island, they witnessed a group of men in black attacking it, with flames shooting into the sky.
These men in black acted swiftly and ruthlessly, clearly indicating they came prepared.
Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen felt a surge of anger and decided to step forward to protect the island and repay Lin Yue for her kindness in staying there.
"It's them!" Ji Wuchen recognized the group of men in black at a glance as the same group he had encountered not long ago in the cauldron and in that... door.
Ji Wuchen's eyes were filled with anger. He hadn't expected the other party to be so resilient. He had been hit by a boulder and trapped in the swamp... yet he was still alive and able to catch up.
Lin Yue also appeared beside her, her eyes filled with anger. "They've come looking for me."
Lin Yue's voice carried a hint of determination.
Without hesitation, Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen decided to help Lin Yue fight against the men in black.
The three fought side by side, cooperating closely. Ji Wuchen was agile and wielded a sharp sword; Ye Ying's palm techniques were powerful and imposing; while Lin Yue, carrying arrows and a quiver on her back, moved nimbly among the enemies, waiting for an opportunity to attack.
Just like they had worked with Didi before, Ye Ying and Ji Wuchen also teamed up with Lin Yue.
However, Didi and Lin Yue are different in that one uses the flute as a weapon, while the other uses arrows.
