Chapter 456 The Box Behind the Buddha Statue

【Medicine King Valley…】

Are the people from Medicine King Valley inviting me over?

But I don't know anyone from Medicine King Valley.

Was it delivered to the wrong address?

Yun Duoduo wondered if she had read it wrong. She couldn't figure it out, so she looked at the note again, which had another sentence on it.

Behind the Buddha statue at the temple at the end of Tianshui Street, a small gift, offered as a token of respect.

"The temples on Tianshui Street?"

Where is this?

Yun Duoduo was completely confused by the note.

She didn't know that there was a place called Medicine King Valley in Shu Kingdom, and Lianqiao and the others had never mentioned it, let alone a place called Tianshui Street.

"Never mind, let's ignore it."

Yun Duoduo found the note and message utterly baffling and sudden, assuming it had been delivered to the wrong place. She stopped thinking about it, turned over in bed, and fell into a deep sleep.

...

Three days later, early in the morning, Yun Duoduo got up and dressed.

She saw the jade pendant hanging from her waist and thought of the token that Lian Jiucheng had given her that day.

Is addressing someone as "Your Highness" too formal and distant?

She recalled Lian Jiucheng's reaction that day.

[How about I call him Brother Jiucheng next time we meet?]

Yun Duoduo scratched her head. Anyway, she was about to leave the Shu Kingdom, so she could worry about the future later.

She looked down again and glanced at the copper plate at her waist.

Suddenly, something occurred to her...

Medicine King Valley has invited me to visit.

[What else was said? A small gift, a token of my respect, behind the Buddha statue at the temple at the end of Tianshui Street...]

Could it be related to these copper pieces?

Could Medicine King Valley be related to the Third Imperial Uncle?

Thinking of this, Yun Duoduo felt a shiver run down her spine. When you connect the dots like this, it all makes sense.

However, the delegation was already preparing to return to Nanyang, and it was too late to look for Tianshui Street or Medicine King Valley.

"Princess?"

Ah Xiang gently patted Yun Duoduo. Just now, she asked Yun Duoduo which hairpin she wanted to wear, but Yun Duoduo didn't react at all.

"ah?"

"Princess, is something on your mind?"

Ah Xiang looked at Yun Duoduo with concern.

"fine."

Yun Duoduo shook her head.

[Never mind, I'll come to Shu again in the future, we'll see then.]

When Yun Duoduo and A Xiang came out, the Nanyang delegation was already waiting outside.

After bidding a reluctant farewell to Wang Fengru, Nangong Rui boarded the carriage.

The Nanyang delegation left the Shu Kingdom in a grand procession.

Empress Dowager Wang Fengru, the Fifth Princess Lianrong, the Sixth Princess Lianqiao, and others from the Shu Kingdom came out to see them off. Lian Jiucheng sent a team of guards and palace maids to escort the Nanyang delegation out of the Shu Kingdom.

"Little sister, come again next time!" Wang Fengru's voice was loud as she looked at Nangong Rui with reluctance.

"Duoduo, come visit Shu Kingdom often!"

"Grandmother Wang, my sisters often come to Nanyang to play too!"

Yun Duoduo lifted the carriage curtain and shouted at the top of her lungs.

The group followed the same route they had come from, heading towards Nanyang.

...

The Nanyang delegation traveled north, and it was a warm time of year. Along the way, the ice and snow were melting, and the layer of ice on the streams was gradually thawing.

Just as they were about to leave the capital of Shu, Yun Duoduo suddenly saw a temple.

A deserted temple covered in cobwebs.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through Yun Duoduo's mind: "What kind of street is this?"

Yun Duoduo asked the Shu Kingdom palace maid who was accompanying her.

"Your Highness, this street is Tianshui Street," the palace maid said softly.

[Tianshui Street?!]

What a coincidence!

Wow, this is amazing!

Yun Duoduo slapped her thigh excitedly and shouted, "Stop the car!"

Upon hearing Yun Duoduo's voice, Jin Jinzhi raised her hand and made a gesture, and the convoy immediately stopped.

"Brother Jinzhi, I need to use the restroom!"

As she spoke, Yun Duoduo jumped off the carriage and ran into the temple.

Ah Xiang and Cao Canjun followed, while Jin Jinzhi and the other guards stayed behind, vigilantly observing their surroundings.

Yun Duoduo ran very fast. When she arrived at the temple, she wouldn't let A Xiang follow her in.

Behind the Buddha statue, a small gift, offered as a token of respect.

Yun Duoduo recalled the words on the note; right in the center of the temple was a Buddha statue.

She looked around the temple and saw nothing unusual. She lifted her skirt, walked to the Buddha statue, and after observing it for a while, prepared to touch the back of the Buddha statue to see if there was a note with a small gift on it.

[Hiss, better be careful...]

Thinking of this, Yun Duoduo took out the medical gloves she always carried with her from her bosom and put them on.

This is based on her more than ten years of medical experience; she always carries gloves, a mask, and acupuncture needles with her.

After putting on gloves, she reached behind the Buddha statue and found a box.

This must be the small gift.

Yun Duoduo pulled the box out.

The box itself looks rather unassuming; it's quite plain.

Yun Duoduo looked at the box in her hand. It was a brown rectangular box, unlike the kind of box she usually saw that was inlaid with many jewels.

She opened the box, and what she saw there surprised her greatly.

Inside the box, there was a neat row of long, yellow, stick-shaped objects.

[This is...this is cordyceps?!]

Cordyceps sinensis is club-shaped, light yellow at the base, yellowish-brown in the middle, and dark brown at the top, reaching up to 6 cm in length.
