Chapter 5 Don't come any closer!

The eldest prince, Yun Yibo, felt very upset after being scolded. Today was his grandmother's birthday, and he had received many strange and wonderful trinkets, as well as a lot of delicious food.

It was supposed to be a joyous birthday celebration, a day when I could have legitimately enjoyed myself without being disliked by my mother, all thanks to my grandmother. But it was ruined by a newborn baby!

What a jinx! Just like the jinx described in the storybooks, with messy hair and a wicked, annoying personality!

Her mother is the most honored person in the harem, yet she's now so anxious and restless over a newborn baby. It's outrageous!

This is infuriating! He stomped his foot angrily, picked at his fingers, and stared blankly at the ground.

Wait a minute, he froze, suddenly remembering that Aunt Cuiling had just said it was a little princess? Could this baby be a girl?!

Yun Yibo, who had been hanging his head like a deflated balloon, suddenly had a glint in his eyes. He clapped his hands. He had a younger sister?!

The anger and resentment that had just risen in my heart vanished instantly.

His little sister had just been born, and as her older brother, he had to go and see her. After making up his mind, he looked around and surveyed everything in the room.

He shouldn't appear too shabby on their first meeting; he shouldn't go empty-handed.

“These storybooks are nice, I should take them to my sister.” He picked out a few crumpled books from a stack of books.

"This was specially made by the imperial chef for the birthday banquet. We can't usually have this. I have to take it to my sister." He packed the dishes that he had specially left on the table, which he planned to enjoy while reading storybooks that evening, into a food box.

Yun Yibo muttered to himself as he bent down and looked around, picking and choosing what he thought were good food and toys and putting them into his basket.

"My little sister was just born, and she probably hasn't seen much of the world yet. These things will be great for her to broaden her horizons!"

If I give these to my younger sister, she will surely be happy, and if she is happy, perhaps Mother will be alright.

Carrying his basket, he was filled with joy and felt incredibly clever. He skipped and hopped out of Zhaoyang Palace, but when he reached the palace gate, he froze on the spot.

Where is the little sister's palace? A while ago (Northeastern dialect, meaning before), Mother and Aunt Cuiling only said that the little sister almost had an accident, but which empress gave birth to the little sister?

In the past, if a concubine gave birth, the palace would be decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations for a grand celebration. But now, the palace is quiet, and no red lanterns are hung in any of the chambers.

For a moment, he didn't know where to go.

As he hesitated, he noticed a ten-year-old girl hurrying around the palace gate.

Why does this little girl look so strange?

Without giving it much thought, Yun Yibo quietly followed behind the girl.

...

Inside Shouchang Palace, Yun Duoduo sneezed. She had been outside for too long and was freezing. Besides, she was still an infant and had little resistance, so she was extremely weak.

After taking the medicine prescribed by the imperial physician, I felt even worse.

Her head felt dizzy and she felt nauseous.

Achoo!

I feel so awful; having a cold is just so unpleasant.

Based on her experience, if this continues, she'll likely get diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, and if she gets a fever, she'll definitely be quarantined.

She closed her eyes in discomfort, feeling dizzy and disoriented, as if she had returned to the medical research institute where she worked.

She looked at the reagents, syringes, and experimental records on the research table, as well as the various medicines in the cabinet, the white coats on the coat rack, and the very familiar smell of disinfectant.

She was stunned for a long time, unable to tell whether she was in the palace or in her office.

The pain throughout her body gradually cleared her mind. She squinted and scanned the medicine cabinet, where she saw Qingfei Qingwen oral liquid and acetaminophen.

If she could take these medicines with her, she would be saved. After taking these medicines and sleeping, she wouldn't feel so bad, and she wouldn't be afraid of having a fever.

Just as she was about to reach for the medicine, she suddenly felt a lightness in her body as she was being lifted up.

No! She hasn't received her medicine yet!

The research institute and offices in front of us vanished in an instant.

With a mournful face and a heart full of anguish, she closed her eyes in despair.

"Blow out the candles," Zhang Mama's voice rang in my ears.

"Yes." A palace maid blew out the candle by the bed, and only the moonlight poured into the room.

Granny Zhang wrapped her in another blanket, making her look like a dumpling, then put her back on the bed and left the bedroom.

She lay on the bed with her eyes wide open, pondering how to save herself. She eventually fell asleep, exhausted from experiencing life and death that night.

"It's so hot." Yun Duoduo woke up from the heat after sleeping for less than an hour. She was wrapped in too many blankets, and the charcoal fire in the bedroom was burning very brightly.

Her hands were bound inside the blanket, so she could only kick her legs forcefully to loosen the blanket.

Ouch! That hurts!

Suddenly, her small, round feet seemed to have kicked something hard, and the pain brought tears to her eyes.

She looked down and saw a medicine box at the foot of the bed.

Suddenly, her eyes narrowed, her heart skipped a beat, and her breath caught in her throat for a moment. Blood rushed to her head, and her mouth gaped open in shock.

There was a medicine box sitting perfectly at the foot of the bed. It was the same medicine box that was on her desk in the research institute's office.

With an excited heart and trembling hands, she rubbed her eyes with her chubby little hands, looked around warily, and slowly crawled to the medicine box.
