Chapter Fifty-Three: Justifying Oneself

Zhang was angrily hurling insults, but the others didn't look too happy either.

Especially Gu Yingfu.

"Mother! Please stop talking. If it weren't for you, would things have come to this?"

After Gu Yingfu finished speaking, he muttered to himself, "Everything was arranged perfectly, but look at what you said..."

Zhang was furious when she heard this, and her eyes widened immediately. She then put her hands on her hips and pointed at Gu Yingfu.

"What do you mean? Are you blaming me? Are you suggesting I just let that little bitch make a scene? Gu Yingfu, Gu Yingfu, I've served you for so many years, and this is how you talk to me like that!"

Zhang Shi immediately became unwilling and started crying and shouting, looking as if someone had bullied her.

Gu Yingfu paused, then turned away angrily and remained silent.

What can we do?

This is his own mother.

There's really no way to do it.

After hearing this, Madam Yang gave Madam Zhang a cold look.

"More trouble than good" perfectly describes my mother-in-law.

Before anyone could say anything, she started performing, and most importantly, the things she did were disgusting!

It annoys me just thinking about it.

Gu Dekang realized that if he didn't speak up, the mother and son would probably keep arguing for who knows how long.

"Alright! Stop arguing!"

Gu Dekang sternly rebuked him, then looked at Gu Yingfu and said, "This is your mother. Can't you speak to your mother properly?"

Gu Yingfu's eyes widened; he was almost furious!

That's absurd! How could this be?

"Dad? Is this disrespecting Mom? Look at what she's done! What is this? I never expected Mom to remember any of this, but at the very least, it shouldn't be like this! Now things have turned out this way, how did this happen? Doesn't Mom know anything? The situation has become like this, what about the future?"

"How should we handle this matter from now on?"

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became; Gu Yingfu felt like he was about to explode.

She just couldn't understand it. This Zhang family isn't someone who doesn't know anything, so how come they always manage to do things like this? Don't they ever think about what's going on?

Having thought of all this, Gu Yingfu took a deep breath, and now he really didn't want to say another word.

Upon hearing this, Gu Dekang sighed helplessly.

How could Gu Dekang not feel bad about things turning out this way? But that's his wife. No matter what, Gu Dekang can't blame his wife, especially in front of his children.

"Alright, things are already like this. Do you think you can handle things if you keep talking about your mother? Let's talk about it when we get back. Don't bring it up now."

After he finished speaking, Gu Dekang waved, and the group of people walked home looking dejected.

Yang was also unhappy. She had thought she would gain a lot from this trip, but the result was unexpected.

This matter is so frustrating to think about, and the worst part is that it hasn't had a good outcome yet. Isn't that infuriating?

Thinking of all this, Madam Yang took a deep breath and glanced at her husband.

"Honey, are we just going to abandon this situation like this?"

Gu Yingfu glanced at Madam Yang after hearing this.

"What else can we do? She's still our mother. Are we supposed to make a scene?"

If you say that Gu Yingfu is feeling good about this, then you are obviously lying, because Gu Yingfu is also very annoyed, and even more so because things have escalated to this point. But there's nothing anyone can do about this. No matter what happens, this is the final result, and who can do anything about it?

Hearing this, Yang was somewhat indignant. After a long pause, she took a deep breath and said, "No... I just don't understand. What is Mother thinking? And most importantly, this matter is perfectly reasonable on our part! It's infuriating that Mother has made such a fuss!"

How could Gu Yingfu not know how infuriating that is?

But there was no other way but to endure it.

Even after returning home, the family members still didn't look too happy.

When the second wife saw this scene, her eyes darted around and she roughly understood what was going on. Immediately, Madam Xie hurriedly told Gu Yinggui about it.

Gu Yinggui merely gave a cold laugh upon hearing this.

"I knew it all along."

Gu Yinggui actually knew very well what was going on, so he wasn't surprised at all.

"How did you guess it so early? Do you know how all of this happened?"

Madam Xie was completely caught off guard, and now that her husband had spoken to her, she was even more confused.

Gu Yinggui said, "Don't you know what kind of person our mother is? Another point is that she has never been tolerant of this kind of thing. Even if we want to do something, we can't. So, this shows that things won't be good."

Besides, with each of them having their own ulterior motives, it would be strange if things didn't turn out well.

Xie hadn't really thought of these things before, but after hearing Gu Yinggui say this, she felt that what he said made a lot of sense.

Thinking about all this, Madam Xie couldn't help but sigh helplessly, and then said, "Husband, I really don't understand. Even if others don't say anything, don't they know there's benefit to it? Since they know, why do they still go along with it?"

That's really strange.

Gu Yinggui was too lazy to talk about these things.

"Who cares about them? It has nothing to do with us anyway. You should get less involved in this matter in the future. We'll get used to it once we've lived our own lives well."

To put it bluntly, Xie was just curious, so he nodded at this point and said nothing more.

Gu Yinggui glanced outside and shook his head.

In this kind of situation, no one can really say anything. Besides, since things have escalated to this point, it's obvious that they won't gain anything.

Gu Dekang started puffing on his cigarette again. The more he thought about it, the more upset and agitated he became.

Zhang has never believed that she is wrong, and even at this moment, she still believes that she is not wrong.

She snorted and said, "I'm telling you, this has nothing to do with me. Besides, all the things I said to that little bastard were fake."

Obviously not!

So why should everyone blame themselves?

Besides, Zhang has always been so competitive and ambitious, how could she possibly tolerate such a thing happening?
