Chapter Thirty-Four: Sauerkraut Fish Restaurant

Gu Sang had anticipated this outcome, so she didn't care at all.

When she woke up in the morning, she felt very satisfied, and even a little bit of peace.

Because she was on someone else's turf, Ms. Li wasn't used to sleeping there, so she got up early.

"mother?"

When Gu Sang went outside and saw that Li Shi had already woken up, she was stunned for a moment.

Li smiled.

"Sangsang, you're up? Let's tidy up the house, clean it up, and then we'll leave."

Gu Sang understood Li's thoughts. After all, staying here was someone else's house, and she was bound to feel a little uncomfortable. She nodded, then tidied up her things first, and then woke up her younger brother and sister.

There were hardly any people at the inn in the morning, so no one knew when Gu Sang and the others finished packing and were about to leave.

The manager of Yipinju was quite adept at handling people; he probably understood the restraint of the Li family and others, so he arrived early.

"Young friend, are you leaving?"

Gu Sang glanced at the shopkeeper, then smiled and nodded.

"We apologize for troubling you, shopkeeper. Our family had a very good rest yesterday."

"That's good."

The shopkeeper was very satisfied. He was a very shrewd man and knew that befriending Gu Sang was definitely worth the money. Moreover, no matter what happened, as long as Gu Sang wanted it, everything would be fine.

The shopkeeper didn't ask any further questions.

Gu Sang and the others bid farewell to the innkeeper and went directly to the house on the edge of town.

After making some inquiries, they finally met the person, and Gu Sang stated directly that she wanted to rent the shop.

The boss was a man in his thirties. When he saw the Gu family's third branch, including women and children, he couldn't help but frown.

"This is on the edge of town, it's not exactly safe to begin with, can you... handle it?"

It's not that we don't rent or lend, after all, they make money from it, right?

But you know, this whole family... if something happens to them, not only will their shop be hard to sell in the future, but it won't be good for the family either, will it?

So the boss decided to explain the situation to them first.

Gu Sang simply smiled faintly and nodded after hearing this.

"Don't worry, boss, we know, and it doesn't put too much pressure on us."

Gu Sang was unwilling to say more, but still indicated that everything was fine.

After thinking it over, the boss finally agreed to rent the property to them for ten taels of silver a year.

Gu Sang readily paid the money and went with the shopkeeper to the yamen to complete the paperwork.

After everything was finished, it was almost noon.

The family hadn't eaten breakfast that morning, and Siya was so hungry she was practically wilting.

"Mom, let's go get something to eat first. We still need to tidy up the shop and buy some things this afternoon. We'll be busy."

Gu Sang turned around and glanced at Li Shi.

This is their new home, where they will be living for the next year, so naturally they are preparing for it carefully.

Li was also filled with excitement and nodded vigorously.

"Yes, yes, let's go eat first."

The new house had nothing; they couldn't even cook something for themselves.

The family went to a nearby stall and each of them ate a bowl of noodles. After they were full, Erwa and Sanwa took Siya home, while Gu Sang and Li Shi took Dawa and went straight into the city to start a big shopping spree!

However, he unexpectedly encountered Li Rong on the way.

Why did you come here?

Gu Sang was still somewhat surprised.

When Li Rong saw the whole family looking like this, she probably guessed what they were up to, and said with a smile, "I just happened to have nothing to do, so I came to see how your preparations are going?"

No one remembered what happened yesterday, because even if they thought about it, they still couldn't keep up with the changes.

Another point is that these three families would actually be better off leaving the village, a point that Li Rong also understands.

I still had some concerns in my heart, so I came over.

"I was just sitting at home with nothing to do, and I figured you'd be very busy today, so I came over to see if there's anything I could help you with?"

"That would be wonderful!"

Upon hearing this, Gu Sang immediately smiled and then told Li Rong what they needed to do that day, and Li Rong also joined in.

The rented shop is practically an empty shell, with nothing inside, so they have to do everything themselves, from decorating to buying things.

Otherwise, how could the annual rent only amount to ten taels of silver?

Li Rong couldn't help but ask curiously, "Why don't you think about buying it?"

He remembered that when he talked to Gu Sang about this yesterday, Gu Sang said that she wanted to buy it.

Gu Sang shook her head.

"Let's try it for a year first, after all... we don't know if it will last."

These words made Li Rong glance at them sideways, not understanding for a moment what Gu Sang meant.

After all, in Li Rong's mind, he had always thought that Gu Sang was a very intelligent and confident person, so why was she acting so hesitant now?

Gu Sang glanced at Li Rong, realizing she had misunderstood her meaning, and chuckled. Then, she narrowed her eyes slightly and said, "It's not that I lack confidence. I have other plans. Perhaps after a year here and gaining a reputation, I'll go to a more distant place. People die when they move, but trees thrive when they're moved, right?"

After she finished speaking, Gu Sang even winked playfully.
