Chapter Twenty-Nine: Deciding to Move

Gu Sang couldn't be bothered with any of that. She was already incredibly annoyed by all of this, and now that they were all scheming against her like this, she would be doing them a disservice if she didn't teach them a lesson.

When they returned to the thatched hut, the house was in complete disarray. Li Shi sat weakly in a chair, staring at the mess, and didn't move for a long time.

Gu Sang knew that Li was tired and frightened, so Gu Sang did not disturb her. Instead, she gave her younger siblings a look, and the five children began to clean up.

However, after tidying up, Gu Sang took a deep breath and looked at Li Shi.

"Mother, we can't stay in the village anymore."

"ah?"

Li was preoccupied with other things when she heard Gu Sang say this. She was stunned for a moment, then looked up at Gu Sang in surprise, not understanding what Gu Sang meant.

Gu Sang thought for a moment, then said, "Mother, I know clearly why you are staying here, but there is no place for us here anymore. We... have to leave too."

Upon hearing this, Li pursed her lips, momentarily at a loss for words.

That's for sure. She doesn't want to leave.

When Gu Sang saw Li Shi's appearance, she knew in her heart what her silent persistence meant, but there was nothing she could do about it.

“Mother, we’ve completely broken ties with the Gu family now. Don’t you know what kind of people they are? How could they possibly let us off the hook? We took thirty taels of silver from them today, which is no small amount. Do you think they’ll let us off the hook?”

It's easy to imagine that there will be hardships in this kind of situation. Nobody wants it to be like this, but if they aren't dealt with properly, the entire Gu family will think that the third branch is easy to bully.

No one wants to be bullied and treated like that.

“Mother.” Gu Sang squatted down, looked at Li Shi, and took her hand. “We can’t stay here. Even if we don’t think about ourselves, we have to think about our younger siblings. We are capable of protecting ourselves, but they are still so young. How can they protect themselves?”

Upon hearing the mention of her children, Li's eyes widened instantly, and she transformed from a dazed state into one of remarkable alertness.

She took a deep breath and then nodded hurriedly.

"Yes, you're right!"

She can't just think of herself; the children still need her support. What would happen if something happened to her?

Moreover, the Gu family is simply inhuman. What if they were to harm the children?

Originally, Li had never thought of these things, but now that she had, she couldn't help but feel afraid.

Fortunately, all the previous calculations could be changed at this point. The Li family now had a choice, so they no longer needed to be desperate.

"Sangsang, where are we going?"

Although they said they wanted to leave, they had no direction and couldn't just leave whenever they wanted, which made them feel somewhat apprehensive.

Moreover, Li herself was an indecisive person, and at this time she was mostly panicked.

Gu Sang comforted Li Shi for a while, then smiled and said, "Let's go to town. I just saw a shop I liked when Li Rong and I went to town today. If we have the money, we can buy it; if not, we can rent it. It'll be a fresh start, Mother. What do you say?"

This idea had only lingered in Gu Sang's mind for a short while, but later she genuinely felt it was feasible. Most importantly, Gu Sang was determined to develop her career eventually, so she had to do it sooner or later.

Today's events present a perfect opportunity; going there would be the best choice for them.

Upon hearing this, Li was taken aback for a moment before nodding.

"well."

Now that Li Shi had been persuaded, everything would be easier. Shen Wan smiled and then said to Li Shi, "Mother, don't panic. No matter what happens, I will be by your side. Don't worry."

Li smiled slightly, a hint of nervousness in her expression.

How could she not worry? The future was uncertain; she had no idea what would happen. Just thinking about it filled her with panic, and she felt that everything happening right now was beyond her control, making her want to escape.

But she had children, five children to take care of, and those five children couldn't be without their mother. So at that moment, Li could only take a deep breath and suppress the panic in her heart.

Shen Wan also saw Li Shi's state and knew that this would make Li Shi feel nervous. However, in Gu Sang's opinion, no matter what, they had to go through it, so they couldn't relax at all.

The house was ransacked and in a terrible state, and Gu Sang was too lazy to clean it up. After tidying up what was still usable, the family of six packed their bags and prepared to leave.

When Li Rong arrived, she was taken aback by their appearance.

"You found out?"

"What?"

Gu Sang was taken aback by Li Rong's sudden question and didn't understand what it meant.

At this moment, Li Rong said, "Your grandfather and the others have already planned to come and rob you of your silver tonight, and they also... they also want to contact someone to sell your whole family."

Li was so frightened that she gasped.

"Grandpa is bad! Uncle is bad! Second Uncle is bad! They're all bad!"

Siya is too young to understand what these people are saying, but that doesn't stop the children from disliking them.

Children are the most sensitive; they know who the good people are and who the bad people are. So when they think of them, all they can think of are the times when they were bullied.

The child's voice was clear and crisp as he called out.

Gu Sang raised her hand and gently soothed Siya's emotions. To be honest, Gu Sang was not at all surprised by anything the Gu family did.

"Don't you feel angry?"

When Li Rong saw Gu Sang's appearance, she couldn't help but raise her eyebrows, wondering why Gu Sang was so... calm.

Gu Sang merely smiled faintly at this moment, then glanced at her family members behind her before saying, "I've long known what kind of people they are, so what's there to be angry about?"

Those kinds of people are worse than animals. It feels like a waste of breath to talk to them, so Gu Sang wouldn't let them ruin her mood.

"Besides, I admire their success."
