Chapter Seven: Snatching Candy

The Tian family did not know what the old lady was saying to the village chief, but they saw the village chief nod and immediately gather all the able-bodied men in the village.

He instructed the able-bodied men to take hoes and sickles and stand on both sides of the villagers to protect them.

Just as the old lady had predicted.

They had only walked three miles when some refugees caught up with them.

Tian Guoguo was held tightly by her mother on the donkey cart and couldn't throw the small hand grenade. Fortunately, the able-bodied men managed to drive them away with hoes and sickles.

The refugees dared not go any further and followed from a distance.

As dusk settled, the moon rose above the willow branches.

The refugees were still following them. Qingshan Village had wanted to hurry and shake them off, but seeing the situation, they were afraid they wouldn't be able to shake them off even by tomorrow morning.

Fortunately, the village chief called a halt!

"Everyone, stay put and rest. All able-bodied men, come with me to protect the village!"

Since we can't avoid it, we might as well face it.

When the refugees saw that Qingshan Village had stopped, they wanted to rush up, but when they saw the village chief leading a lot of strong young men with hoes and sickles, they dared not make a move.

They could only stare at them menacingly.

Tian Guoguo sneakily threw a few grenades.

Several loud bangs rang out.

The first few leaders of the refugees were blown up and turned into African refugees, which completely shattered their desire to rush over again.

Xingshan Village is safe for the time being.

Taking the opportunity, Old Lady Tian spoke a few words to the village chief. The village chief responded and summoned the heads of each household to return the toll money they had previously given to the bandits.

Everyone was taken aback.

The money bag taken by the Tian family did contain their toll money, and they did want to get it back from the Tian family. However, because they felt guilty for not helping Tian Guoguo when she was captured by bandits, no one brought up the matter.

Unexpectedly, they returned it on their own initiative.

Everyone was happy, and some people wanted to say a few nice words, but were interrupted by Grandma Tian.

"How this money came about is self-evident, isn't it?"

"This money was already given away by you, and it would have been perfectly reasonable for the Tian family not to give it back to you, but we have given it to you now."

"It's because everyone in the Tian family is like family!"

"But how did everyone do it?"

At this point, Old Lady Tian paused deliberately, her deep old eyes sweeping over everyone present, making them all lower their heads in shame.

Grandma Tian was fairly satisfied with their reaction.

Only then did he continue speaking.

"Let bygones be bygones. My Tian family has no need for your thanks. We only hope that you will not stand idly by again when we are in danger!"

"Otherwise, my Tian family doesn't need this family!"

The old lady spoke calmly, yet every word she uttered was a reminder and a warning.

The villagers weren't stupid; soon some of them declared that they would help the Tian family even at the cost of their lives, and praised Tian Guoguo as a lucky star.

Once someone started, the other villagers followed suit.

Because of the "heavenly thunder" incident, everyone truly believed what Grandma Tian had said before, that Guoguo was a lucky star, and their praise was very sincere.

The praise made Tian Guoguo, who was secretly preparing medicine for her father, beam with joy.

The jinx label has been successfully removed!

Because she had prepared a whole dose of medicine for her father at noon, it only needed to be heated up before he could take it.

The medicine was quickly decocted, and Tian Guoguo ladled it out, about to hand it to her older brother next to her.

A somewhat familiar voice suddenly came from not far away.

"Wife, wife, wife."

He was a boy of about six or seven years old, running and panting heavily as he shouted.

Tian Guoguo looked in the direction of the sound.

The face looks familiar, but I can't quite place it right now.

Xie Shuyan was overjoyed. He ran over without even catching his breath and circled around Tian Guoguo as if to confirm something.

After he finished turning around, he suddenly hugged Tian Guoguo's arm and shouted happily, "Haha, that's great, honey, you're really okay!"

Only then did Tian Guoguo hear clearly how he addressed her.

Then it came to mind that the original owner had been betrothed as a child.

This child prodigy was the village's little genius. He passed the imperial examination at the age of five, but unfortunately, he injured his brain last year and became mentally impaired!

It is worth mentioning.

Before the fall, Xie Shuyan had almost no interaction with the original owner of the body, but the first thing he said when he woke up was to look for the original owner.

The original owner was considered a mentally challenged person in the village due to a congenital illness.

Two people who shared the same plight became friends!

Xie Shuyan was still babbling on and on.

On the day the original owner was knocked unconscious, he rushed to save her, but he was too late.

He wanted to wait for her to wake up before leaving, but his parents forcibly dragged him away, saying that his wife was fine and that he shouldn't come looking for her.

Until tonight.

He sneaked out when his parents weren't looking.

As he was speaking, he suddenly remembered something, reached into his shirt pocket and rummaged around until he finally pulled out a red diamond.

It was quickly stuffed into Tian Guoguo's mouth.

He said happily, "Wife, try this! This is the candy I told you about last time. I stole it from my mother!"

"It's so sweet!"

Before Tian Guoguo could react, her mouth was filled with an overwhelming sweetness that went straight to her taste buds.

Xie Shuyan across from her was smiling at her.

His silly, goofy look made Tian Guoguo want to reply, "Sweet!"

The wording is very clear.

Tian Yihong, who was standing next to him, was stunned, and Xie Shuyan was even more surprised, "Wife, wife, you can talk?"

Without waiting for Tian Guoguo's response, he started cheering excitedly to himself.

After cheering, he didn't forget to stuff the last piece of brown sugar in his pocket into Tian Guoguo's hand and said.

"I have one left, I'll give them all to my wife!"

Tian Guoguo blinked her big eyes and met his clear, bright eyes again.

Sugar was very expensive in ancient times, and the Xie family probably didn't have much sugar. Moreover, Xie Shuyan wasn't favored in the Xie family, so this must have been stolen.

I'm afraid I'll get beaten up when I get back.

Although Tian Guoguo did not personally experience his past with the original owner, she had to admit that Xie Shuyan was truly good to the original owner.

She couldn't let Xie Shuyan be punished.

She wanted to get some candy from her spatial storage for him so he could take it back to make up for the shortfall and avoid being punished.

Just then, a chubby boy suddenly rushed over from not far away and pounced on Xie Shuyan.

"Give me candy! I want candy!"

Tian Guoguo's little broken car was startled and she instinctively took a step back, looking at the chubby boy, who turned out to be Tian Yiming.

When she first transmigrated, Tian Guoguo's mind was in a daze. She didn't even remember that Tian Yiming was the one who injured the original owner of the body.

Seeing him snatch Xie Shuyan's candy, she finally remembered.

Tian Yiming was still frantically trying to snatch the candy from Xie Shuyan's hand, but Xie Shuyan said it was for his wife and he would never give it to him, and he held the candy tightly in his arms.

It was clear that Xie Shuyan was at a disadvantage.

Fearing something might happen, Tian Yihong, who was standing nearby, tried to step in and break up the fight.

Remembering her brother's asthma, Tian Guoguo quickly grabbed his arm and forced out a few words, "De, de, pfft."

She was calling him "brother".

Tian Yihong's heart softened upon hearing this, but he still couldn't stand idly by.

I gently patted my little sister's head, softly told her to wait patiently, and then ran ahead.

He just ran over.

Tian Yiming, who was sitting on Xie Shuyan's lap, suddenly jumped up as if he had been stabbed by something!

At the same time, red bumps appeared on his face, hands, and even his whole body.

Each one was about the size of a peanut.

It hurt and itched at the same time. He wanted to scratch but it hurt, and he didn't want to scratch but it itched. He was so uncomfortable that he lay on the ground, rolling around and crying.

Tian Yihong and Xie Shuyan were both dumbfounded.
