Chapter Sixty: By What Right?

Before leaving, the old lady reminded them to go to sleep quickly and to cover themselves with blankets at night.

Tian Yifan and Tian Yiming's eyes welled up with tears again, but they didn't say anything and just nodded obediently.

Most of the villagers had left the courtyard, so Wen and He decided to clean up the dishes so they could cook breakfast the next morning.

When Grandma Tian saw them, she hurriedly called out, "What are you doing so late? You can get ready tomorrow morning!"

"Go back to sleep, everyone!"

Although the old lady's tone was stern, it was full of concern, and the two sisters-in-law smiled helplessly and quickly agreed.

Their mother-in-law always has a sharp tongue but a kind heart!

The next morning.

The two sisters-in-law woke up just as dawn was breaking.

Grandma Tian also woke up. The three of them—mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, and mother-in-law—were all thinking about getting up early to tidy up and prepare breakfast.

Now that they've settled down, they need to think about how they'll live in the future.

Getting up early to eat and start working early is the first step!

Just as the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law began their fight, there was a knock on the Tian family's door.

The people who came were none other than the women and children of Qingshan Village. They all came to help pack up the things and take away the pots.

And it's not just them.

Soon, there was another knock at the door, and this time it was a woman from Anping Village.

The villagers from Anping Village also came to the Tian family last night. They had heard that Qingshan Village had received an imperial decree and wanted to come and see what was going on.

But everyone was eating.

They didn't have the heart to come in and disturb them.

The women thought that everyone in Qingshan Village must have gotten drunk last night, so they could come over early this morning to help.

Wouldn't that allow us to find out about the imperial edict?

But they didn't come empty-handed; almost every one of them carried a small basket containing eggs or pancakes...

They claimed it was to thank Qingshan Village for helping them catch the ghost.

In fact…

Everyone in Qingshan Village knew perfectly well that these people had heard the village had received an imperial decree and wanted to curry favor with them.

The village chief placed the imperial edict at the Tian family's house.

They felt that their honors were all thanks to Guoguo, and that it was only right for them to be placed in the Tian family.

Grandma Tian wasn't stingy, so since the women of Anping Village wanted to see it, she decided to show it to them.

The women's eyes lit up when they saw the imperial edict.

I'm so envious, so incredibly envious!

This made them even more eager to please Qingshan Village. They not only helped with cleaning up the dishes, but also volunteered to help wash them.

There was still some broth left from last night's mildly spicy hot pot. When the broth was shaken, a spicy aroma wafted out, and the villagers of Anping were all curious about what it tasted like.

Some people even poked at it with their fingers to taste it, without minding the taste.

The villagers who tasted it were immediately attracted by the appetizing spiciness and came over to ask the villagers of Qingshan Village how they made this flavor.

It's so delicious!

The villagers of Qingshan Village instinctively responded that it was a family heirloom of Qian Bao.

But after they finished speaking, they remembered a question...

There were no chili peppers back then, so how did Qian Bao's family manage to create this flavor?

However, since Qian Bao was still unconscious, they could only ask Grandma Tian to inquire, as they all wanted to try it.

Grandma Tian smiled and agreed.

After finally seeing them off, the Tian family placed a lot of eggs and pancakes on the table.

Grandma Tian divided the eggs equally with everyone. In the end, however, she had two extra eggs.

Most villagers thought that the extra eggs were given to the Tian family by the villagers who came to deliver them, and that the extra eggs should be given to the Tian family. But Ding Zhaodi disagreed!

"Why should they? They only put the eggs at the Tian family's house because they saw all of us here!"

"Why should it all go to the Tian family!"

Everyone frowned as they listened.

They didn't think Ding Zhaodi was right, but rather that she was just picking a fight.

One of the women was displeased and retorted irritably to Ding Zhaodi, "What? There are only two eggs in total. If we don't give them to the Tian family, are we going to give them to you?"

These words really struck a chord with Ding Zhaodi.

She immediately picked up two eggs and was about to give them to his family!

Coincidentally, General Cui suddenly came out of the house.

Last night, he was staying at the Tian family's house with several of his personal guards. The guards carried out seven or eight sacks of peanuts from the house in pairs.

General Cui's powerful voice was full of intimidation, "Just because the Tian family is willing to lend you peanut seeds!"

Everyone was taken aback by his words.

General Cui ordered his personal guards to open a bag of peanuts and take out some to distribute to the women present, three peanuts to each of them.

"Try these, these peanuts can be eaten raw!"

The women's food wasn't really that appealing, even though Guoguo said last night that the sauce was made of peanuts...

But whether it is or not, nobody knows!

General Cui understood their concerns and ate first to show them.

While saying this, he praised how delicious the peanuts were!

The women were so impressed by his praise that they put a piece in their mouths.

After that one, they almost couldn't stop.

The peanuts were crunchy, fragrant, and had a subtle sweetness; they tasted much better than the crops they used to eat.

Tian Guoguo appeared out of nowhere and, seeing that everyone had eaten peanuts, she talked about the health benefits of peanuts and how they could be pressed for oil.

Everyone was surprised and asked how to extract oil.

Tian Guoguo, however, kept a little mystery to herself.

General Cui then asked everyone if anyone wanted to plant peanuts and asked them to register and receive seeds, which they could then plant after next year's harvest.

Most villagers were hesitant.

They had never grown peanuts before and didn't know if it could really be as high-yielding as General Cui claimed!

The Tian family took the lead!

When everyone saw that the Tian family was the first to register, some villagers felt that following the Tian family was the right thing to do, because the Tian family had a little lucky star.

They came along to get the seeds too!

Of course, some people didn't receive it.

For example, Ding Zhaodi's family.

Although peanuts are delicious, she didn't trust the Tian family and was afraid that she wouldn't be able to grow them well and would lose money!

General Cui distributed seeds according to a minimum of half an acre per household.

In other words, if you want to plant, you must plant at least half an acre.

As for the planting method…

Since Tian Guoguo handed over the blame for the seed source to General Cui, she also needed General Cui to teach her how to plant the seeds.

Tian Guoguo then told General Cui the method!

General Cui was a capable leader. That very morning, he called on everyone to go to the fields to till the soil, so as to prevent weeds from growing next month when the weather warms up.

Tian Guoguo also wanted to pick up a hoe and follow along.

Unfortunately, the hoe was a bit heavy.

My little Guoguo was held for ages and barely moved two steps, then she tripped and almost fell...

Fortunately, General Cui lifted her up in time.

Yes, just like carrying a chick.

This terrified the Tian family. Tian Yifan and Tian Yihong, who were closest to the girl, ran over quickly to pick her up.

General Cui was also worried about Xiao Guoguo, and was about to use his other hand to pick her up when she was snatched away.

Both Tian Yifan and Tian Yiming looked worried as they put their younger sister on the ground and carefully checked her over from head to toe.

Tian Yiming and Tian Yixuan also ran over.

But it seems like there's no place for them anymore.

But Tian Yiming was quick-witted. He ran to the hoe with his short legs and shouted, "Guoguo, don't be afraid, your fourth brother will avenge you!"

After saying that, he stomped hard on the hoe.

As a result, when he stepped on the hoe, the handle connected to the hoe was also bounced up.

Then I heard a "bang".

The hoe handle struck Tian Yiming squarely on the forehead.
