Chapter 137 Entering the Palace
Ji Qiu glanced at Su Yuan with disdain, raised his eyebrows slightly, and continued:
"If you don't clean yourself up, I won't hesitate to touch you. Humph, you came back so soon, are you not feeling well? Sigh! I haven't even married yet, and I already have such a wife."
Su Yuan placed her arm on his waist as a cushion, turned her head slightly, and looked into the eyes of the man on her left who was still kissing her on the face, and explained seriously:
"I drank a pot of tea in the building and then came out. I went in to accompany Lu Yanxin to look for someone. Don't think too much."
She lowered her head slightly, glanced at herself, and said meaningfully:
"If you don't believe me, you can check it out."
Ji Qiubai looked at the woman above with suspicion and untied Su Yuan's belt as he was told.
Unexpectedly, he had only read half of it when he suddenly felt a chill in his body.
Ji Qiubai was shocked and quickly lowered his eyes to look at the thin gauze on his body, but he suddenly fell down.
He was then pressed down on the snow-white velvet blanket by the woman on top. The sound of cloth tearing and the man's low moans continued intermittently until the second half of the night.
At dawn.
A lone star in the distant sky gradually disappeared, a bright light appeared in the eastern sky, and the sky became brighter and brighter.
Inside the house, on the bed.
Ji Qiubai opened his eyes hazily.
He turned his head to glance at the woman lying beside him, pushed her, and called out in a hoarse voice:
"Su Yuan, wake up."
Hearing the voice, Su Yuan narrowed his eyes and looked out the window.
Then she turned around and hugged the man's soft body, and said softly with a hint of comfort and laziness in her words:
"It's still early, let's sleep a little longer!"
Ji Qiubai barely supported his sore body and sat up, shook his head and explained:
"I forgot to tell you last night that the Empress summoned the two of us to the palace today to see her. We will clean up later. I'm afraid it's getting late."
Su Yuan frowned slightly, no longer lying in bed, stood up, grabbed the messy robe beside him and put it on.
Then he turned his head, looked at Ji Qiubai's purple body, looked away with a guilty conscience, coughed lightly and said:
"Well, you lie down on the bed first. I'll go to the bathroom to wash up and ask someone to bring in water to serve you."
Seeing this, Ji Qiubai glared at her, raised his chin slightly, pointed at the ground, and snorted:
"Look at the scraps of yarn on the ground. You didn't even touch me gently. Humph, I don't care. When you come back from the palace, you have to compensate me with an identical one."
Su Yuan looked over, pursed his lips, nodded and agreed:
"Okay, I'll compensate you."
She got out of bed, put on her shoes, walked slowly to the door, opened it, and said to Fuyun and Leshan who were waiting on both sides:
"Go in and serve!"
After the two of them responded "yes", she walked out quickly and called the servants to help her dress and wash.
After that, he had breakfast with Ji Qiubai who had packed up, and took a carriage towards the imperial palace.
Fengming Palace.
The hall has cloud-top sandalwood beams, crystal jade walls as lamps, and agate beads as curtains. The breeze blows gently, stirring up bursts of crisp and pleasant sounds.
The top.
A middle-aged woman wearing a dragon robe, a phoenix crown, and a gentle yet majestic face sat in the seat of honor.
She glanced downwards with a kind look in her eyes, looking at the stunning man on the right wearing an ice-blue robe and a white jade peacock hairpin in his hair, and said with a smile in her gentle voice:
"Xiao Bai, you have been in Beijing for a few days, but you haven't come to visit me yet. Could it be that you have forgotten about me, your stepmother, as soon as you have a fiancée?"
Ji Qiubai glanced at Su Yuan beside him with a little embarrassment, pursed his lips, and said coquettishly:
"Stepmother, please don't call me Xiaobai anymore. I am an adult now. It would be so embarrassing if others heard me."
Emperor Fengwu followed his gaze and glanced at Su Yuan, then shook his head and sighed:
"Forget it, forget it, just don't call me. I haven't seen you since you went to Jiangzhou with your mother two years ago. Now you are in Beijing with your fiancée. If nothing unexpected happens, you will stay in Beijing for a long time. Remember to come to the palace to see me more often in the future."
After that, she let out a long sigh and changed the subject, mentioning King Nanyou:
"Your mother wrote to me a few days ago, saying that she would come to Beijing to hold your wedding after the drought. Alas, I don't know when we can meet again."
When Ji Qiubai heard Emperor Fengwu mention his mother, a trace of longing flashed across his eyes, and he whispered:
"It will probably take a few months!"
He took a sip of the teacup beside him, then glanced at the empress at the top of the table and asked in confusion:
"My stepmother summoned me to the palace today. Is there anything else?"
Emperor Fengwu sighed softly and winked at the palace servant beside him.
The palace servant immediately understood, picked up a bright yellow scroll from the jade plate and gently unfolded it.
She turned slightly towards Ji Qiubai and said with a smile on her face:
"Young Master, His Majesty has issued an order. Please prepare to receive it!"
After the two people below knelt down, she cleared her throat and said loudly:
"In compliance with the will of Heaven, the Empress proclaims that Ji Qiubai, the legitimate son of the King of Nanyou, is my adopted son. He is respectful and obedient, has been promoted to a higher position and has been honored by the emperor. He has a virtuous character and is prudent in his duties as a concubine. He is hereby canonized as Prince Jingrong and given the fiefdom of Xuzhou. I decree this."
Below.
Ji Qiubai knelt on the ground. When he heard this, a hint of surprise flashed across his eyes. After the palace servant finished reading the imperial edict, he said in a clear and respectful voice:
"Ji Qiubai accepts the order and thanks the Lord for his grace."
Emperor Fengwu raised his eyebrows slightly, with a faint smile on his lips, and said elegantly and majestically:
"Qiu Bai, get up!"
After that, she looked at Ji Qiubai who was sitting below her and said with a curved lip:
"This is the wedding gift your stepmother gave you. On the day of your wedding, you will be married off from the palace. Are you satisfied, Qiubai?"
Ji Qiubai passed the imperial edict in his hand to the palace servant standing behind him, raised his head slightly, looked at Emperor Fengwu and smiled:
"I am very satisfied. I thank my stepmother for the reward."
Emperor Fengwu nodded, and moved his gaze to Su Yuan, who had been silent beside him, and said:
"Since Qiu Bai's mother chose you as her son-in-law, you must have something extraordinary. I heard that you are the champion of Jiangzhou. I hope you can meet me again in the palace examination in three months."
Su Yuan lowered his eyes, nodded slightly in the direction above him, said "yes" in a deep voice, and said no more.
Emperor Fengwu chatted with Ji Qiubai for a few more words, then frowned slightly, closed his eyes tiredly and said:
"Qiu Bai is in the capital anyway, so we can spend a day or two together to reminisce about the past. You can take Su Yuan and leave now."
Ji Qiubai replied "yes" with a smile, and bowed to the superior together with Su Yuan. Then they turned around and walked slowly out of Fengming Palace.
East Street, inside the carriage.
Ji Qiu lifted the carriage curtain with her white jade fingers, glanced at the shops on both sides of the street, and shouted to the coachman:
“Pull over.”
