Chapter 5 Purchase
"Um……"
Father Su opened his eyes drowsily, and saw a blue sky in front of him. Next to him were two people eating buns happily.
Maybe his voice was too soft in this noisy market, so Su Yuan and Nan Chu didn't notice that Su's father had woken up.
Father Su helplessly reached out and tugged at the corner of Su Yuan's clothes, "Yuanyuan, Daddy wants to drink some water."
Su Yuan saw that his father had woken up and wanted to drink water, so he put down the buns and ran to the tea stand next to him to ask for a pot of tea. He poured two bowls and brought them over:
"Here, Nanchu, take your bowl. I'll give Daddy some water."
Nan Chu nodded obediently, "Okay."
Su Yuan helped his father up and slowly fed him a bowl of water. Then he took out a bun from the quilt on one side:
"Dad, you must be hungry. These are the buns we just bought. Take a look and see which one you want to eat."
Father Su was also very hungry. When he saw food, he picked up the nearest big bun and started eating.
After making arrangements for Su's father, Su Yuan parked the ox cart slightly closer to the tea stall, in an inconspicuous position so as not to hinder the stall owner from doing business.
After finishing, she walked to the stall and sat down, continuing to drink the pot of tea she had just ordered.
They were all bought with money, so we can’t waste them.
She will go to the grocery store to buy two water bags later. She left in a hurry this morning and didn't bring any water. She was really thirsty along the way, and there was a patient besides.
She asked Nan Chu to come down and move around, and drink a cup of tea if he was thirsty. She then drank tea while they were eating.
Su Yuan said a few words to them, went to the shop opposite, bought two water bags, and asked for two pots of boiling water to fill them.
I went to the cloth shop again and bought a quilt, three pieces of cloth, cotton, needles and thread and other things.
Finally, I bought 20 kilograms of rice at the grain store, which cost me a total of ten taels and one cent. I didn’t buy any meat. I will go to the back mountain to raid the place tomorrow.
Su Yuan used all the money from the space. Her original body didn't have much silver in her pocket, and the few taels she had were all used to pay for the medicine.
She had everything planned out. She would tell Su's father that the money was won and she was penniless now.
Otherwise, if she kept taking money out of thin air to spend, it would arouse suspicion, and tomorrow she would have money in plain sight and could take it out openly.
After Su Yuan made up his mind, he took the things and put them on the ox cart. Sure enough, Su's father, who was sitting in the cart, was very confused:
"Yuanyuan, why did you buy so many things? Where did you get the money? Don't tell me you did something...
Father Su's voice in the back was so low that only the two of them could hear it.
Su Yuan was calm and said:
"My daughter was not home for the whole night because of her wedding yesterday. She played a few rounds with her friends and won by sheer luck."
"But I have already decided to break up with them. Daddy's serious illness today has made his daughter see a lot more clearly. Daddy is old, and I will have to support this family in the future."
Su Yuan's words of turning over a new leaf moved her father so much that he burst into tears. He held her hand and said with red eyes:
"Yuanyuan, you have finally grown up and become sensible. Daddy is so relieved. As expected, the ancients were right. Establishing a family and building a career can bring a prodigal son back to his roots."
Su Yuan pulled the corner of his mouth, without explanation, took out a handkerchief from his bosom to wipe Su's father's tears, and comforted him:
"Don't cry, Daddy. I won't let you suffer so much in the future. I will support this family and support you and your husband."
Father Su was very happy after being persuaded, and his mood became more cheerful.
He took Su Yuan's handkerchief, wiped his tears, and glared at her:
"Okay, is there anything else you want to buy? Daddy still has a few taels of private money here."
Su Yuan pretended to think, and after a while he said:
"That's all. Call Nanchu and let's go back."
After that, she called out to Nan Chu who was drinking tea next to her, "Nan Chu, have you finished your tea? If you have, let's go back."
Nan Chu finished the last sip of water at the bottom of the bowl and nodded, "Okay, my wife, let's go."
The three of them got on the ox cart and staggered back to Lihua Village. This time, it was not Nan Chu who was staring at Su Yuan's back, but Su's father.
Father Su thought to himself: Yuanyuan has really grown up and knows how to consider the family. If he hadn't just touched the old scar on his daughter's palm, he really wouldn't have believed that Yuanyuan would be able to stand up one day.
Lihua Village.
The village is located in a blessed place surrounded by mountains and rivers, and its name comes from the pear trees everywhere.
Every April when flowers bloom, the dense pear blossoms in and outside the village merge into a vast sea of white flowers, creating an extremely spectacular scene.
But it is winter now, and there are only dead tree forks.
In the distance, I could hear faint voices, and then I saw a pretty woman driving a ox cart towards me.
"Huh~, I'm finally back. It was quite cold on the road."
Su Yuan hurried all the way and finally returned to Lihua Village with his father Su and Nan Chu in the late afternoon.
We arrived outside the Su family’s courtyard and parked the car.
Su Yuan jumped down first and stood by to help her father and husband get out of the car.
Then Nan Chu supported the seriously ill Su's father. She held a quilt and thick clothes and followed the two into the house, bringing things in one after another and putting them away.
After finishing everything, Su Yuan patted the dust off his hands and said:
"Nanchu, you stay home and look after daddy. I'm going to return the ox cart to the village head."
Nan Chu nodded gently: "Okay."
Su Yuan strode out of the house, came to the village head's house, knocked on the door again, and returned the ox cart.
"Aunt Wu, your ox cart has been returned intact. I will not bother you any more and will go home to take care of Dad."
Su Yuan said hello to Wu Lizheng, led the cow back to its place, and left.
Fortunately, the two houses were quite close, so she walked back quickly.
When Su Yuan got home, she didn't see her father. Only Nan Chu was sitting at the door. She asked in confusion:
"Nanchu, where's daddy?"
"It's so cold outside in the winter. What are you doing sitting at the door? Come in quickly."
Nan Chu's eyes wandered, and he answered in a low voice:
"Daddy felt sleepy and went back to bed. I, I'm sitting outside, waiting for my wife."
The last sentence sounded like a mosquito's buzz, almost inaudible, but Su Yuan had good hearing and she heard it clearly.
She pursed her lips and then smiled faintly:
"If you want to wait for me, it's the same if you go back to the main room and wait. Go in quickly and don't get cold."
"Oh, by the way, how's your needlework?"
Nan Chu stood up and followed Su Yuan back to the main room, answering as he walked:
"Shang Ke, is my wife going to make something? Can you tell me about it?"
After Su Yuan waited for him to sit down, he turned back to the utility room, took out the cotton and three pieces of cloth he had bought in town at noon, as well as some needles and thread, and said to Nan Chu:
"I'll make two sets of cotton-padded clothes for you, and Daddy will make one. Make your clothes first, and then Daddy's when you're done."
After saying this, she became a little curious:
"I went to get something and saw that the new quilt I bought was missing. Did you use it to cover Daddy?"
Nan Chu knew that his wife asked him to make two sets of clothes for herself first, because she remembered what Su's father said in the morning, that he had no clothes to wear. He felt warm and touched in his heart.
When she asked about the quilt again, I nodded obediently and answered:
"When we went to town in the morning, both beds were wet, so I brought new quilts for Dad to cover them with."
After saying this, he looked at Su Yuan with his almond-shaped eyes. This should be what his wife meant.
