Chapter 140 Preparing for the Wedding (Part Two)

The wedding dress was custom-made for Shu Yan by a master craftsman, and the stylist did her hair. Wearing a matching custom-made crown, she slowly walked out, instantly stunning Fang Zeyu and Hu Ruixue.

"It's beautiful." Hu Ruixue looked her up and down. "What's missing? Oh right, where's the jewelry? Why aren't you wearing it?"

Shu Yan glanced at Fang Zeyu, indicating that he should speak for himself.

After all, it was a major life event, and even though Hu Ruixue meant well, Fang Zeyu still hoped to buy jewelry for Shuyan himself.

From necklaces and earrings to bracelets, Fang Zeyu designed everything himself, without consulting any masters. The styles were simple, but they contained his deepest love.

After listening to Fang Zeyu's explanation, Hu Ruixue nodded in understanding. What he said wasn't wrong. She had overstepped her bounds and looked at Shu Yan's wedding dress, asking hesitantly, "That wedding dress?"

"I really like the wedding dress, but I also designed my own toast dress and matching jewelry. Would you like to take a look?"

When Fang Zeyu was designing jewelry, Shu Yan was itching to try it herself. In other people's eyes, she was getting married for the second time, but in reality, it was her first wedding in two lifetimes. How could she not care about her own wedding? She didn't want to embarrass herself by having a world-class fashion designer help her design her wedding dress, but she could design her own toast dress. Actually, it wasn't really a design; it was just a combination of all the beautiful dresses she had seen online.

After hearing Shu Yan's idea, Fang Zeyu found a Suzhou embroidery master. However, it was far from enough for one person to finish such a dress in a month. The master helped introduce several friends to work overtime to help her finish it.

The dress is entirely hand-embroidered, and the matching accessories were also crafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques. This set is no cheaper than Hu Ruixue's wedding dress.

"Is it ready?" Hu Ruixue certainly wanted to see.

"Not yet, everyone's rushing to finish. I brought some renderings of the finished product, let me show you first." Shu Yan took out the renderings from her bag and gave them to Hu Ruixue.

At first glance, Hu Ruixue was attracted by the clothes and jewelry in the picture. Every woman loves clothes and jewelry, and for the first time, Hu Ruixue thought that having a Chinese-style wedding would be nice.

"These all require heavy work! Is there enough time?" Shu Yan remembered that her mother loved cheongsams, and some of them would take several months to make.

"We hired a lot of master chefs who worked overtime to finish it before the wedding." Seeing Hu Ruixue's expression, Shu Yan knew she liked it. "Isn't it beautiful?"

"It's really beautiful. If I ever get married again, I'll definitely ask you to design my toast dress and jewelry." Hu Ruixue decided that even if she didn't get married, she would still ask Shu Yan to design a set for her.

"Of course, I'll prepare everything for you without you even having to ask."

Shu Yan has seen all the diamond jewelry, but she hasn't seen the ring yet. Fang Zeyu said he would let her see it on the wedding day.

"I don't know where she learned that, it's so mysterious," Shu Yan chuckled.

Coming from the information age, she's seen all sorts of surprises, but no matter what Fang Zeyu gives her, Shu Yan always appreciates it.

A smart woman appreciates whatever her husband gives her and never undermines his confidence, otherwise he won't even have gifts she dislikes next time.

After settling things at the company, Hu Ruixue and Shu Yan arrived in Hai Province five days early. They went to Hu Ruixue's friend's villa, which had already been cleaned and ready for them to move in.

“If you don’t have any other plans, you can spend your honeymoon here.” Hu Ruixue led them to the master bedroom on the second floor, opened the balcony door, and a gentle breeze blew in. Outside the balcony was the boundless sea. “By the way, there are cars in the garage. You can drive them if you need.”

Seeing the azure sea, it seemed as if all her fatigue had dissipated. Shu Yan turned her head and asked Hu Ruixue, "Where are the hotels around here?" She didn't seem to have seen any hotels along the way.

"Are you worried about where the guests will stay?" Hu Ruixue took out red wine and glasses, and poured three glasses. "There are hotels in the city. We can have someone arrange a bus so that after the wine, we can take them directly to the hotels in the city to rest. If we have a good relationship with them, we can let them stay in the villa. There are quite a few rooms here."

It's about a 20-minute drive from here to the city center, which isn't considered far.

"I see."

Apart from Third Brother, the other relatives who came to the banquet were either not close to him or had only a casual relationship. In any case, Shu Yan didn't want Lin Zixiang and the others to live under the same roof, so of course she wouldn't keep them.

The day before the wedding, relatives from my hometown finally arrived. They had traveled a long way and looked exhausted. Shu Yan arranged for them to stay at a hotel first.

"Cousin, weren't we supposed to be at the beach? Why can't we see the sea?" My cousin from my aunt's side was a little disappointed. She had never seen the sea before and came with high expectations, but there was nothing there.

"This is the city center. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning to go to the beach." Shu Yan chuckled; she quite liked this little cousin.

"This hotel is huge, even bigger than the hotel where Lao San got married last time." Lin Zixiang said proudly, pulling Shu Youfu along.

"You must all be tired. The rooms are ready, and I'll give you your room keys in a bit. Go and rest for a while, and then someone will come to call you to the second floor for lunch. Today's lunch is a buffet, so you can take whatever you want. But I have to remind you, there's a lot of seafood here, and it's delicious, but please don't eat too much. Since you haven't eaten much before, eating too much at once can easily upset your stomach."

Shu Yan was worried about them, so she discussed it with the hotel manager and asked them to limit the amount of seafood each person could eat. She didn't want them to end up in the hospital before even attending the wedding.

"Where is Fang Zeyu? Where did he go?" Shu Jianyang put down his things and went downstairs, but Fang Zeyu was nowhere to be seen. He wanted to talk to him.

"He went to pick up other friends." Old Zhang and his wife, as well as Lin Hui and the others, also arrived. Zhang Huaxiu and her husband came over as well. Wu Xiuyue said she was too busy at her shop to come, but she gave a red envelope containing eight hundred yuan, which is considered a large red envelope in Nancheng. Shu Yan plans to return it to her son as a New Year's gift wallet.

As for Fang Zeyu's comrades-in-arms, two are still in the army and will not arrive until tomorrow, while several others arrived yesterday. DouDou's mother also arrived today and is already resting at the hotel.

"Oh my, we've finally arrived! Let me see the bride!" Lin Hui teased Shu Yan upon seeing her.

"Are you tired? Go and take a rest." Shu Yan smiled sincerely when she saw Zhang Huaxiu and the others.

"Little sister." Shu Li came over with Lin Hui and the others, her face a little pale, as she wasn't very good at riding in cars.

"Second sister, you should take the child and go rest. I'll call you for dinner later."

She and Fang Zeyu hadn't eaten much all day, no wonder everyone says that getting married is the most tiring thing to do, Shu Yan really understood.

All the relatives and friends have arrived. After settling them in, Shu Yan and Fang Zeyu need to check the seating arrangements for tomorrow's banquet.

After finishing my work, I glanced at the time and realized I could just make it back to have dinner with them.

The relatives from my hometown were eating at a buffet for the first time. They heard that they could eat as much as they wanted from all the food on the menu, so they were stuffing their plates with gusto.

"Why is it stipulated that each person can only have one hairy crab? These things look like a lot, but there's not much meat when you break them open," my cousin from my aunt's side asked, somewhat annoyed.

“You’ve just arrived in Hai Province, and you’re eating too much seafood right away. I’m worried you might not be used to the local environment and get an upset stomach. It’s not just hairy crabs here; we also have beef and mutton, all raised by locals. They’re especially delicious,” Shu Yan said, coming over to help the waiter out of the awkward situation.

The older cousin glanced at Shu Yan and stopped nagging.

After finally finishing lunch, there were still some procedures to rehearse at the Shuyan Auditorium, so she asked Shu Jianyang to help take care of her relatives from her hometown.

"Don't worry, you guys go ahead and do what you need to do. I'll take care of things here," Shu Jianyang readily agreed.

Her friend asked Shu Li to help with the reception, while Fang Zeyu asked Mao Weiping to handle it. Only then did the two of them feel at ease and head to the auditorium.

"You've come back just in time. Let me show you the design drawings. How about the flower arch and the flowers on both sides arranged like this?" Hu Ruixue was directing people to set up the auditorium.

"Okay, when will the flowers arrive?"

"It can be done before 10 a.m. tomorrow." The flowers definitely need to be the freshest, so we can only prepare them tomorrow morning.

They went over the process once and rehearsed several times before returning to the villa to rest.

Shu Yan collapsed onto the bed, too lazy to move. "I thought getting married would be simple, but I didn't expect it to be so tiring."

"I don't feel tired." Fang Zeyu placed Shu Yan's legs on his thighs and gently massaged them. "I feel very happy."

Shu Yan glanced at him sideways, wondering what kind of honey she'd been using lately, making her lips incredibly sweet.

They didn't go over to have dinner with their relatives and friends. They ate a simple meal at the villa, and then Shu Yan and Fang Zeyu went for a walk on the beach.

I've been here for three or four days, and I've been so busy with this and that I haven't even had time to properly appreciate the scenery around me.

Barefoot on the fine sand, Shu Yan took Fang Zeyu's hand and said, "This place is so beautiful."

“If you like, we can buy a villa here and come for a summer vacation. Jingjing and Tianbao also like the beach,” Fang Zeyu said with a smile.

Shu Yan was somewhat tempted. This place wasn't very popular now, but in a few years, it would become a tourist hotspot, one of the places she had always longed to visit. And these villas nearby—she never thought she could just buy one one day.

"I'll ask around to see if there are any villas for sale." She decided to buy one; after all, what's the point of making money if you don't want to spend it?

"I've already asked, the best spots are all taken, but there are still some slightly out-of-the-way ones available." The villas with the best views had already been snapped up, and they arrived a bit late.

"It's fine if it's a little out of the way, as long as I can see the sea." In fact, being a little out of the way isn't a bad thing; there are fewer tourists, and it's quieter.

As the two chatted and watched the sunset, Shu Yan suddenly asked, "You're getting married tomorrow, are you nervous?"

"Nervous." Fang Zeyu felt more nervous than when the enemy pointed a gun at him.

Shu Yan took a deep breath. "I suddenly feel like I can't breathe."

The two exchanged a glance and immediately lost the will to continue. They decided to go back and rehearse the routine again, making sure they didn't make any mistakes tomorrow, or they would be humiliated in front of all their relatives and friends.
