Chapter 282 Setting up a stall at the vegetable market

Jiang Yuwei patted Liu's shoulder and smiled:

"If you can cook, you can set up a stall. Do you remember the fried cakes I made at the stall before? I'll teach you how to make them in a bit. Make a small batch first, and try selling them tomorrow. If they sell well, I'll teach you other foods. Later, I'll have Gou Dan go with you to set up the stall and have him help you pack and pick out things."

Upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Liu happily replied:

"Okay, I will definitely study hard. I'll have Gou Dan come and learn with me later. I'll give you all the money I earn."

Jiang Yuwei quickly waved her hand and said:

"No need to give it to me. Just calculate the daily profits, and give me only 20% of the 80% that flows out."

Upon hearing this, Liu hurriedly waved her hand and said:

"No way, Yuwei. I signed a contract with you to sell myself into servitude. Right now, I live and eat under your roof. You want me to go out and set up a stall, and I still want to keep the lion's share of the profits? What kind of person do you take me for?"

Jiang Yuwei smiled and said:

“You and Gou Dan should save some money. You need to find a wife for Gou Dan in the future. Listen to me, that indenture is just a piece of paper. You don’t need to feel burdened.”

After hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Liu could only nod in agreement.

After everyone had breakfast, Jiang Yuwei directed Liu Shi and Gou Dan to make fried cakes, while she helped Ning Huaizhi decoct medicine and learned acupuncture from the skilled Zhu.

Although she has been busy these days, Jiang Yuwei has not neglected her studies. She is naturally quick to learn, and now with the guidance of the skilled Zhu, and her own willingness to put in the effort, she has mastered most of the basic knowledge.

Every time Jiang Yuwei recited medical principles in a low voice, Ning Wan would stay by her side without disturbing her, just listening quietly as Jiang Yuwei recited. Now even Ning Wan can recite many basic things.

Jiang Yuwei also consciously cultivated Ning Wan's learning ability. Learning some medical skills would only benefit her in the future. Ning Huaizhi's legs no longer needed a wheelchair. He could walk back and forth with crutches and was completely self-sufficient. Jiang Yuwei didn't need to worry about him at all.

The skilled healer, Zhu, also said that Ning Huaizhi's leg was healing very quickly, even better than he had expected. After the entire course of acupuncture treatment was completed, he would be able to recover to the same state as before the injury.

Ning Huaizhi was also a strong-willed person. Seeing that there was hope for his leg to recover, he secretly worked hard. Although Jiang Yuwei always told him not to tire himself out, he would always throw away his crutches in the room and walk around the bed. When he could no longer support himself, he would sit up for a while and then get up and walk again.

He also wanted to one day stand tall beside Jiang Yuwei, to be a strong support she could rely on, and to be a father his two children could be proud of.

Jiang Yuwei had been busy all day, and when she came to check on Liu Shi and Gou Dan's learning progress in the evening, she found that Liu Shi's cooking tasted similar to her own, so she nodded and said:

"Put all of these away. Take them to the market to sell tomorrow. If they sell well tomorrow, I'll teach you the recipe for gardenia soy milk. Make some and take them to the market to sell together."

When Liu and Gou Dan saw that their work had been approved by Jiang Yuwei, they smiled at each other happily.

The next day,

Early in the morning, Aunt Zhou and the others drove their oxcart to pick up Liu Shi and Gou Dan and headed to the vegetable market. Yesterday, they had found a vacant lot at the entrance of the market that was just big enough to set up three stalls, with extra space for tables and chairs for customers to eat and rest.

The group arrived at the market and quickly set up their respective stalls.

To attract more people, Ning Qiu busied herself simmering the bone broth for the spicy hot pot and fanned it constantly. People passing by couldn't help but look over curiously, and some even sniffed the aroma of the hot pot.

Seeing this, Ning Daya quickly took a few chilies from in front of her and started roasting them over a fire, then began fanning herself like Ning Qiu.

Seeing that everyone else had set out food, Gou Dan couldn't be left behind, so he took out a few fried cakes, placed them outside, and started eating them right there.

"Oh, Mom, these fried cakes are so fragrant, so sweet, so delicious! How can they be so good? Why haven't I ever eaten anything this good before?"

Dog Egg ate with gusto and shouted loudly, and soon a group of children gathered around, drooling over the fried cakes in his hand.

Seeing this, Gou Dan quickly shouted to the children in front of him:

"These fried cakes are so delicious, if you don't ask your parents to buy some, I'll eat them all!"

A group of children looked at each other, swallowed hard, and then ran off to find their parents.

Tie Zhu and Ning Wu also started shouting.

"Delicious pounded chili and preserved egg, you won't find this place again once you've been here! Come and try it if you're passing by!"

"Mala tang, Mala tang, fragrant Mala tang, I guarantee you'll want to eat it again and again."

Soon, the shouts of the two vendors and the aroma of their snacks drew passersby to gather around.

"Give me a bowl of spicy hot pot!"

"I want pounded pepper and preserved egg!"

"Give me one of each!"

"Mom, I want to eat fried rice cakes too!"

Before long, the tables and chairs brought by Aunt Zhou and the others were full of people. Ning Qiu and Daya were also busy preparing food. All the customers who were waiting for the spicy hot pot and the preserved egg with pounded peppers would first buy a fried cake to fill their stomachs.

So the half bucket of fried cakes that Liu brought was quickly sold out. Gou Dan regretted not preparing more to sell. For now, he could only help Ning Qiu and Ning Daya's stall by running errands and serving dishes.

While everyone was busy and having a great time, a group of men approached from not far away.

"Brother Wang, look what they're selling over there? Why are so many people gathered around?"

The man called Brother Wang turned around and glared at the person who had spoken.

"Ask, ask, ask! All you do is ask me! Go see what they're doing, they smell pretty good to me!"

Upon hearing this, the man hurriedly nodded and bowed in agreement, then rushed over to Ning Qiu's stall. After looking around for a while, he ran back to Brother Wang's side, scratching his head and saying:

"Brother Wang, I've never seen that thing before and I don't know what it is, but they seem to be eating it with great relish, and there's a really long line. Why don't we go over and try some?"

Brother Wang glared fiercely at the man and cursed under his breath:

"Useless trash, let's go take a look."

A moment later, Brother Wang and his gang arrived at Ning Qiu's stall, kicked aside the man standing at the front of the line, and cursed:

"Are you blind? Can't you see I'm coming? Get in line at the back!"
