Seeing that everything was arranged, Jiang Yuwei called Yun Qing and Xia Yue and left the General's Mansion to head towards the Prince Jing's Mansion.
She needed to make things clear to Ning Huaizhi today. If Liu Sheng started shouting at her shop tomorrow, then she and Qinglan would have completely broken off relations. Once that happened, Qinglan's reputation would be ruined.
When Jiang Yuwei arrived at Jinglan Pavilion, Ning Huaizhi had already been waiting for her in the courtyard for quite a while. Ning Huaizhi had originally planned to go to Haochi City to help out today, but he had something to do at the military camp and couldn't leave for the time being. He was waiting in the courtyard now because he had something he wanted to talk to Jiang Yuwei about.
Jiang Yuwei sent Xia Yue and Yun Qing back to their room before sitting down with Ning Huaizhi in the pavilion.
"Madam, you must be exhausted today."
Jiang Yuwei poured Ning Huaizhi a cup of tea, then poured one for herself, before smiling and saying:
"It's been quite busy since we just opened today,"
Ning Huaizhi accepted the tea offered by Jiang Yuwei and said with some guilt:
"Madam, I had planned to go to the shop to help out after finishing my work at the military camp, but I was held up by military news from the frontier and didn't have time to go."
Jiang Yuwei took a sip of tea and smiled faintly.
"It's alright. Didn't I already say that you don't need to worry about things at home? You just need to take care of things at court."
Ning Huaizhi took Jiang Yuwei's hand and said softly:
"With a wife like this, what more could a husband ask for? My dear wife, thank you for your unwavering support."
Jiang Yuwei calmly withdrew her hand and looked at Ning Huaizhi, speaking:
There's something I want to tell you today.
Seeing this, Ning Huaizhi also became serious and nodded, saying:
"Speak, madam, I'm listening."
"Do you remember that homeless man I recently took in? He's actually a gambler in debt. Qinglan instructed him to approach me and work in my shop so that it would be easier for him to cause me trouble."
Ning Huaizhi's eyes widened upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words.
"How could that be? Qinglan doesn't seem like that kind of person. Isn't there some misunderstanding?"
Jiang Yuwei reached into her sleeve and pulled out Liu Sheng's confession, slamming it on the table and saying coldly:
“What misunderstanding could there be? Liu Sheng did do it, and he admitted it himself. Take a look, Liu Sheng’s confession.”
Ning Huaizhi was still somewhat skeptical, so he quickly picked up the envelope on the table and began to examine it carefully. He read it word for word before frowning and looking at Jiang Yuwei.
“Madam, I’m so sorry. You have to manage the household chores and the business every day. It’s all because of me that Qinglan keeps causing you trouble. Don’t worry, I will talk to her tomorrow and make sure she doesn’t bother you anymore.”
Jiang Yuwei waved her hand and said:
"Just shut up already. If you go to her, who knows what kind of trouble she'll cause? Weren't you clear enough in your previous rejections? Now she's pretending not to hear or understand, so it's pointless for you to say anything."
Ning Huaizhi paused, his hand holding the envelope still.
"So, what do we do about this?"
Jiang Yuwei took the envelope from Ning Huaizhi and carefully put it away.
"I've always been very tolerant of her out of respect for you and General Sun, but this time she's gone too far. She even threatened me with the safety of the guests, so I'm not going to tolerate it any longer."
After hearing the speech, Ning Huaizhi quickly poured Jiang Yuwei a cup of tea.
"Madam, what are your plans this time?"
Jiang Yuwei didn't accept the tea Ning Huaizhi offered; instead, she stared intently at him.
"I just told Liu Sheng to stand at the entrance of Haochi City for three days and explain the whole story clearly, so that everyone on Jin Street will know what kind of person Qinglan is."
Upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Ning Huaizhi's hand holding the teacup trembled slightly. He then placed the teacup on the table, took Jiang Yuwei's hands in his own, and said nervously:
“Madam, if we really take things this far, won’t it affect Qinglan’s future marriage? I, after all, was entrusted with General Sun’s dying wish. I didn’t want things to turn out like this.”
Upon hearing Ning Huaizhi's words, Jiang Yuwei abruptly pulled her hand away, her eyes red as she looked at him.
"General, as I've said before, I've tolerated her many times. I've finally reached my limit and want to retaliate. Now, have you considered my feelings when you say these words?"
Seeing that Jiang Yuwei's eyes were red and tears were about to fall, Ning Huaizhi quickly took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped away the tears from the corners of Jiang Yuwei's eyes.
Jiang Yuwei angrily ripped off Ning Huaizhi's handkerchief and threw it on the table. She glanced down and saw that Ning Huaizhi always carried this handkerchief, which she had bought with him when they participated in the Qixi Festival in Ninghe Town.
Then she reached out and picked up the handkerchief again to examine it closely, choking back tears as she said:
"If we had stayed in Ninghe Town back then to protect my master, the miraculous healer Zhu, none of these terrible things would have happened later."
Seeing Jiang Yuwei like this, Ning Huaizhi felt a pang of heartache and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
"Madam, it's all my fault. I didn't handle Qinglan's matter well, and you've suffered because of me. Don't worry, I'll always stand by your side."
As he spoke, Ning Huaizhi patted Jiang Yuwei on the back and said softly:
"Madam, please do as you please. I will not interfere in this matter. After all, it was Qinglan who provoked you first."
Ning Huaizhi paused for a moment and then continued:
"I just hope you don't go too far, after all, there's still the connection with my master."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuwei forcefully broke free from Ning Huaizhi's grasp and said in a deep voice:
"Since you just said you wouldn't interfere with what I'm doing, then you can just leave it alone from beginning to end. I'm tired, I'm going back to my room to sleep."
After saying that, Jiang Yuwei got up and drank the tea in her cup in one gulp. Without giving Ning Huaizhi a chance to speak, she turned around and went into her room.
Ning Huaizhi was left alone, sitting in the pavilion in the courtyard, watching her retreating figure and muttering to himself:
"Madam, I... I still have something to say to you."
Seeing that Jiang Yuwei was in a bad mood, Ning Huaizhi didn't dare to call out to her. In addition, Ning Huaizhi thought that Jiang Yuwei had been busy in the shop all day and had encountered Qinglan's matter, so she must be exhausted.
I certainly can't bother her with things happening in the military camp. Anyway, it's still some time before I lead my troops into battle, so I can only wait for a suitable opportunity to sit down and talk things out with Jiang Yuwei.
Thinking this, Ning Huaizhi also got up and sighed. After taking a deep look at Jiang Yuwei's door, he stepped into his own room.
