Chapter 202 You are not allowed to step into the mourning hall!

Ning Huaizhi looked at Jiang Yuwei with concern, and Jiang Yuwei turned back and smiled faintly at him:

"Huaizhi, don't delay the time. Go back to the shop and bring over the rest of the wreaths."

Ning Huaizhi hesitated for a moment, but nodded and drove the oxcart away. Jiang Yuwei then picked up all the wreaths that Madam Sun had kicked over.

Then he spoke calmly to Madam Sun:

"These are a gift from me to my godmother. She loves flowers."

Madam Sun had already been scolded by her husband because of the passing of the old lady. Since yesterday, her husband had not given her a kind look. If it weren't for the need to hold a funeral for the old lady and to maintain the dignity of the Sun family, Master Sun would not have released Madam Sun so easily.

Therefore, Madam Sun's hatred for Jiang Yuwei deepened. If Jiang Yuwei hadn't instigated her, she wouldn't have argued with the old lady over such a trivial matter. Who knew that the old lady was so easily angered? She had only spoken a few truths, and the old lady had been angered to death.

Madam Sun felt increasingly aggrieved, so she stepped forward, kicked over the wreath, and yelled at Jiang Yuwei:

“I am the mistress of this Sun family mansion. Who do you think you are? It’s none of your business what we need to put up at the entrance of our Sun family mansion. Stop taking advantage of us and acting all innocent! Stop calling me ‘godmother’ all the time. If you really care about the old lady, then you should get out of here as soon as possible. This place is too small to accommodate someone as big as you!”

Jiang Yuwei looked at the wreaths on the ground and sighed helplessly:

“Madam Sun, I know you harbor resentment towards me, but today is my godmother's funeral. Can't we just let her pass away peacefully? If you have any complaints about me, can't we talk about them later?”

Upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Madam Sun's eyes widened immediately.

"Are you saying I'm less sensible than a country woman from a humble background like you? Who do you think you are, to presume to lecture me?"

Those who came to attend the old lady's funeral saw the scene at the door and began pointing and whispering at Jiang Yuwei.

"Isn't this the goddaughter that the old lady just adopted at her birthday banquet?"

"What goddaughter? I think she's more like a death knell!"

"Ah, what do you mean?"

"Didn't you hear what Madam Sun just said? The old lady of the Sun family was angered to death by her goddaughter!"

Just then, a lazy male voice spoke softly:

"Madam Sun, isn't today the old lady's funeral? What are you doing here? Look at this obituary, was it sent by your Sun family? Why are you all coming in now? This is the first time I've ever seen your family hold a funeral like this!"

Upon hearing this, Madam Sun realized that the crowd gathered at the door was growing larger, most of them eager to see the Sun family make a fool of themselves. The old lady had been driven to her death by her own actions, and if she didn't handle the funeral properly, her husband would certainly not let her off easily. Therefore, Madam Sun glared fiercely at Jiang Yuwei and then smiled at the crowd at the door:

"I'm sorry, something came up and I was delayed. You're all here to offer your condolences, please come in."

Then Madam Sun winked at Chun Tao and said:

"Quickly, take all the guests to the mourning hall."

Jiang Yuwei felt that the man's voice sounded familiar. Just as she was about to look up to see who had come to her rescue, she saw that the man had already followed the crowd into the mansion. When he walked to Madam Sun's side, he lowered his head and whispered a few words to her.

Madam Sun's expression immediately changed. She glared fiercely at Jiang Yuwei before following the crowd into the mansion to entertain the guests.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei and Wan'er quickly helped to pick up all the fallen wreaths and arrange them properly. Wan'er looked at the gate of the Sun residence and pouted, saying:

"Mother, that Madam Sun was really fierce just now. Wan'er doesn't want to go in."

Jiang Yuwei knelt down, gently patted Ning Wan's head, and smiled tenderly:

“We don’t care about her feelings. Have you forgotten what Mother told you this morning? We’re here today to see the old lady off on her final journey.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Wan nodded obediently and said sweetly:

"Alright, then we'll leave after we see the old lady off."

As the two were talking, Ning Huaizhi arrived with the remaining wreaths.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei hurriedly went to move the wreaths. Ning Huaizhi, noticing that Madam Sun was no longer at the door, said to Jiang Yuwei:

“Yuwei, we’ve delivered the wreaths. If Madam Sun really doesn’t want us to go in, let’s go back to the shop first. We can follow behind the old lady’s funeral procession and catch a glimpse of it from afar.”

As Jiang Yuwei moved the wreaths, she spoke:

"It's alright. Madam Sun must be busy today and has no intention of arguing with me. The old lady has been so kind to me, so I must see her off properly. You should go back first as there are many things to do at the shop."

Ning Huaizhi frowned and said:

"But I'm afraid you'll be mistreated here... We don't need to..."

Before Ning Huaizhi could finish speaking, Jiang Yuwei had already brought down all the wreaths and smiled at Ning Huaizhi:

"Huaizhi, it's alright. When have you ever seen me suffer a loss? Just listen to me and go back to the shop to wait for me. This afternoon, I'll accompany you to Huichuntang to treat your leg injury. I won't stay here long. I'll just go in to see the old lady and kowtow to her a few times. That will put my mind at ease. No one will do anything to me."

As Jiang Yuwei spoke, fearing Ning Huaizhi might worry, she patted his shoulder and smiled, saying:

"If Madam Sun really makes things difficult for me, Master Sun will help me out of respect for the old lady, so don't worry."

Hearing this, Ning Huaizhi didn't say anything more. After all, he knew Jiang Yuwei well; once she made up her mind, she would do it, and he couldn't persuade her otherwise. So he could only nod helplessly and say:

"Then protect yourself. If things go wrong, take Wan'er and leave the manor as soon as possible."

Jiang Yuwei nodded to Ning Huaizhi and waved for him to go first. Ning Huaizhi glanced at Jiang Yuwei worriedly and then drove the oxcart toward the shop.

Seeing that Ning Huaizhi had walked away, Jiang Yuwei took Ning Wandi's hand and walked into the Sun residence. At this time, the Sun residence was already covered in white. Without the joyful laughter of the old lady's birthday banquet, the whole house seemed to have become sad.

As soon as Jiang Yuwei entered the mansion, she went to find the old lady's mourning hall. Jiang Yuwei thought that if she could see the person who had just helped her out of a predicament, she would definitely thank him properly.

Jiang Yuwei walked into the main hall and saw the old lady's memorial tablet placed in the center. Just as she was about to pull Wan'er over to kneel and pay her respects, she was stopped by Chun Tao, the maidservant beside Madam Sun.

“Madam Jiang, please leave. Our lady said that you are not allowed to step into the mourning hall. Don’t make things awkward for both sides.”

Jiang Yuwei turned to look at the maid who, like Madam Sun, looked down on people, and couldn't help but frown. This person was too arrogant and abusive. It was one thing for Madam Sun to yell at her.

How dare you, a mere maid, be so disrespectful to me? Although the old lady has passed away, I am still the sister whom Master Sun has taken for granted. How can I suffer in silence?
