After hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Wang Ma naturally couldn't stop her from asking any more questions, so she let her go back to her room to sleep.
Wang Ma thought that her young master was still in the backyard watching over the smoked sausages, and she dared not go to sleep there. So she went to the backyard and changed Ning Zixuan and Ning Huaizhi. She figured that since she could sleep in the carriage tomorrow, it wouldn't hurt to stay up all night.
The next day,
As soon as Jiang Yuwei got out of bed, she heard Wang Ma knocking on her bedroom door.
"Yuwei, are you awake? Go to the backyard and see if the sausages are smoked yet. I'll go and call Granny Chen and the others over."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuwei quickly responded:
"Okay, Aunt Wang, you can go now. Leave the sausages in the backyard to me."
As she spoke, Jiang Yuwei quickly got up, dressed, and went straight to the backyard. She saw that the sausages on the shelf were thoroughly smoked, just the right amount. Jiang Yuwei quickly divided the sausages into two portions. She told Wang Ma to keep her portion, and she packed her own portion and stored it in her spatial storage.
After cleaning up the sausages and putting out the fire, Jiang Yuwei tidied up the backyard and then took the key to the small yard to Aunt Zhang's house.
"Aunt Zhang, are you up yet?"
Before Jiang Yuwei could even knock on the door, Xiaoyun opened it from the yard, smiling at Jiang Yuwei and saying:
"Get up, Sister Yuwei, come in quickly."
Jiang Yuwei followed Xiaoyun into the courtyard. Aunt Zhang, seeing Jiang Yuwei arrive, quickly put down her work and came out to greet her.
"Yuwei, have you packed your things? If you need Aunt Zhang to come and help, just let me know."
Jiang Yuwei quickly waved her hand and said:
"No need, Aunt Zhang, it's just a small job, we can do it ourselves. We're leaving this morning, so I came here to say goodbye."
Aunt Zhang's eyes immediately reddened upon hearing this.
"Yuwei, you know, I'm getting old and I'm so useless. I didn't think much of it at first, but when I heard you were leaving, I felt really sad. Sigh, we've been neighbors for so long, we've developed a bond, and now you're leaving like this, I really, really can't bear to see you go..."
Seeing her mother-in-law crying, Xiaoyun rushed forward to hand her a handkerchief, and tears streamed down her own face.
“Sister Yuwei, I can’t bear to leave you either. Since Xiaoman was born, I’ve been taking care of the baby at home all day and haven’t had a chance to spend much time with you. But Xiaoman and I were given our lives by you, and I will remember this kindness until I die. If it weren’t for the fact that Xiaoman is too young to leave the hospital, I would have gone with you no matter what.”
Seeing the two of them crying, Jiang Yuwei smiled helplessly:
"Stop crying. Your tears are making me want to cry too. I'm also reluctant to leave you, but things don't always go as planned. We really can't stay in Ningjia Village anymore. That's why I'm here today to give you the key to the courtyard. You don't need to take special care of it. Just come and visit when you have time. I've grown attached to this courtyard and can't bear to see it fall into disrepair. I feel more at ease having the key in your hands."
Xiaoyun took the key while crying and said to Jiang Yuwei:
"Sister Yuwei, don't worry. As long as our family is still in Ningjia Village, we will never let the courtyard go to waste. If you can come back in the future, I promise you can still live comfortably in the courtyard."
Jiang Yuwei patted Xiaoyun's hand.
"Alright, if Xiaoman becomes successful in the future and comes to the capital, we'll have him come to us."
Xiao Yun nodded repeatedly in gratitude after hearing Jiang Yuwei's words. Jiang Yuwei bid farewell to Aunt Zhang's family and had just entered the courtyard when she saw Yun Qing leading a carriage out.
Yunqing bought two carriages and a horse. Ning Zixuan wanted to ride the horse himself, so Yunqing was responsible for driving one of the carriages. There was still one carriage left that no one could drive, and Wang Ma and Yunqing were looking at it with worry.
Then Chen Guixiang came rushing over with her whole family, carrying more than a dozen large bundles, as if she was afraid that if she was a step too slow, Wang Ma would leave them behind.
Jiang Yuwei couldn't help but find their expressions amusing.
"Are you carrying so much stuff on your way to escape famine? All this stuff is in the carriage; are you planning to walk all the way to the capital?"
After hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Granny Chen glanced at the large and small packages she had brought, then looked at the two carriages, and smiled:
"There are two carriages, one for carrying things and one for passengers, that's enough."
Wang Ma frowned and looked at Chen Pozi, saying:
"You don't need to bring any food, I've prepared everything. Each person only needs to bring two sets of clothes to change into. Once you arrive at the Prince's Mansion, the manor will take care of your food and clothing. Do you really expect to wear these peasant clothes when you enter and leave the Prince's Mansion?"
Upon hearing this, Madam Sun quickly smiled and nodded, saying:
"I told you so. The Prince's Mansion is so wealthy and powerful. You insisted on bringing so much junk with you, making yourself a laughing stock. If you don't want to embarrass Chunlin, you'd better get rid of all this stuff."
Wang Ma glanced at Sun Shi, then turned to Ning Chunlin and asked:
"Young Master, I wonder if you know how to drive a carriage? There are two carriages here, and no one knows how to drive the other one."
Ning Chunlin frowned and said:
"How could I, the eldest son of the Prince Jing's mansion, be doing a job like driving a carriage?"
As he spoke, Ning Chunlin impatiently pointed at Ning Huaizhi and said:
"Ning Huaizhi, you know how to drive an oxcart, so driving a horse-drawn carriage shouldn't be too difficult for you, right? Come here and drive for us."
Jiang Yuwei wanted to punch him when she saw his arrogant attitude. They hadn't even acknowledged each other as relatives yet, and he was already acting like a young master. Now he even dared to order Ning Huaizhi around.
Jiang Yuwei grew angrier the more she thought about it, and spat on the ground, cursing:
"Let me hear what kind of wild boar is squealing so early in the morning, ruining my good mood."
As she spoke, Jiang Yuwei strode up to Ning Chunlin, stared intently at him, and said:
"Oh, so it's Young Master Ning. You can't just order others around like that, even if you don't have a brain. What's your relationship with Ning Huaizhi? Is he someone you can just order around as you please? Besides, you said Ning Huaizhi can drive an oxcart, so let me ask you, if you want my Huaizhi to drive your horse-drawn carriage, who will drive our own oxcart?"
After saying that, Jiang Yuwei looked Ning Chunlin up and down, which made Ning Chunlin feel uneasy. He knew Jiang Yuwei's methods; she would start a fight at the slightest disagreement. Therefore, Ning Chunlin did not dare to reply and only took several steps back.
Seeing this, Old Man Ning took a deep drag on his pipe and said:
"I'll drive the carriage, I know how."
Wang Ma was relieved to see that Old Man Ning had agreed to the matter, so she arranged for Madam Sun to ride in the same carriage with Ning Xin and Chen Guixiang. Xu Qianqian and Wang Ma themselves also rode in the carriage, so that they could get to know Madam Sun and Xu Qianqian's temperaments better. Old Man Ning was in charge of driving the carriage.
The other carriage, driven by Yun Qing, was for Ning Chunlin and Ning Zixuan to ride in. If Ning Zixuan got tired of riding, he could rest in the carriage for a while.
When Xu Qianqian saw that Wang Ma wanted to arrange for her to sit with Sun Shi, she immediately objected and quickly grabbed Ning Chunlin's arm, shaking it as she said:
"Brother Chunlin, I don't want to be squeezed together with them. Can I ride in the same car as you?"
Upon hearing this, Madam Sun stepped forward and slapped Xu Qianqian across the face.
