Chapter 333 Being Used as a Pawn

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei rushed up to Yun Qing and said:

"Yun Qing, stop!"

Then he turned to look at Aunt Lin and said with a smile:

“This courtyard was allocated to our family by the Princess and the Prince. The Prince is kind-hearted and worried that we might not be used to living in the Prince Jing’s mansion, so he specially ordered Yunqing to guard the gate here and not allow anyone else to enter our courtyard.”

As she spoke, Jiang Yuwei's smile faded, and she stared coldly at Aunt Lin as she continued:

"I don't know why Aunt Lin insisted on visiting our courtyard. She couldn't get in and even hit Yunqing. Yunqing was just following orders. Even when beating a dog, you have to consider its owner, let alone hitting a person. If someone with ulterior motives saw this and reported it to the young master, what would the young master think?"

Feeling uncomfortable under Jiang Yuwei's gaze, Aunt Lin chuckled awkwardly and said:

"It's all because this servant is so unclear and ambiguous. How was I supposed to know that your whole family lived in this courtyard? I thought this servant was deliberately trying to make things difficult for me and prevent me from going in."

As she spoke, Aunt Lin took out a handkerchief and covered her nose with it, saying with disgust:

“If this servant had told me earlier that this was your family’s courtyard, I probably wouldn’t have stayed here a moment longer. It looks so poor and shabby. Since your family has been living in this courtyard, it should be torn down and rebuilt later.”

Jiang Yuwei sneered upon hearing this.

"Aunt Lin has money in her hands, so naturally she looks down on people like us. I'll talk to the Princess later and ask her to use her own private funds to repair the courtyard of the Prince's mansion. I'm afraid the Princess will be so happy when she hears this that half of her illness will disappear."

As she spoke, Jiang Yuwei stood at the entrance of her courtyard and continued:

"Right now, our courtyard is not to Aunt Lin's liking, so please go back. Don't pass by our courtyard again, lest you dirty your feet. Wouldn't it be ridiculous if people saw you punishing the servants here just to get into our courtyard?"

Jiang Yuwei glanced indifferently at Aunt Lin, whose face was already flushed with anger, and continued:

"What? Is there some secret in this courtyard that Aunt Lin is still here? If there really is a secret, it must be something that Aunt Lin can't show to anyone, otherwise why would you be so reluctant to leave?"

Upon hearing this, Aunt Lin roared in anger:

"Shut up, shut up! You...you're completely unreasonable! How can you make such baseless accusations? What secrets could I possibly have? I was just passing by."

With that, Aunt Lin angrily flung her sleeves, turned around, and cursed at the maid beside her:

"Are you stupid? What are you standing there for? If you don't hurry up and leave, they'll chase you away with a broom! I've seen shameless people, but I've never seen anyone as shameless as you. Humph, we've let you stay for a few days, and you've really started to think of the Prince's mansion as your own home! You lowly thing!"

Jiang Yuwei coldly watched Aunt Lin's retreating figure and laughed:

"Yes, hurry up and leave! You lowly creatures don't even know how to obey your master. If you ask me, we should just whip them to death! What do you say, Aunt Lin?"

Upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Aunt Lin stiffened, then quickened her pace and said without turning her head:

"I don't need you to worry about me!"

After saying that, he led a group of people away without looking back.

After they had walked away, Jiang Yuwei turned back to Yun Qing and asked with concern:

"Yunqing, how are you? Your face looks swollen."

Yun Qing smiled and shook her head.

"It's nothing, just minor injuries."

Jiang Yuwei went straight into the yard, ran to the kitchen, grabbed a boiled egg, peeled it, and then ran out to hand it to Yun Qing.

"Here, take this egg and roll it on the swollen areas of your face; it will help them heal faster."

Yun Qing was stunned for a few seconds, then reached out and took the egg, saying in a low, hoarse voice, "Thank you, Madam."

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei shook her head helplessly.

"You got hurt protecting my family, so I should be thanking you. Okay, I'll go in and cook, you stay outside and keep watch."

After saying that, Jiang Yuwei went back into the courtyard.

Seeing that Ning Zhao was reading a book next to Ning Wan, he didn't go in to disturb her and went directly into the small kitchen at the back to start cooking.

Today, Jiang Yuwei is preparing to steam a pot of buns. The dough was already prepared in the morning. Since the small kitchen happened to have eggplants on hand, Jiang Yuwei plans to make eggplant and tofu filling.

After preparing the filling, take out the dough, knead it to release the air, then divide it into small portions, roll them into round cakes with a rolling pin, wrap the filling inside, and then let them rise in the steamer for a while.

Jiang Yuwei cooked two more home-style dishes, stewed a pot of ribs, and made a plate of fish before serving the food. Today, Ning Huaizhi was going out to eat with his subordinates and had sent someone back early to say that he would not be able to come back for dinner.

Jiang Yuwei thought that Ning Zixuan was still angry because she had asked him to attend the banquet at the Prime Minister's residence, so he probably wouldn't be able to come to this courtyard to eat right now.

To his surprise, just as he was about to sit down to eat with Ning Zhao and Ning Wan, he saw Ning Zixuan walk in from outside with a cold face. Without saying a word, he plopped down, grabbed the unused bowl and chopsticks in front of Jiang Yuwei, and started eating.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei could only smile helplessly and went out to get another set of bowls and chopsticks. But as soon as Jiang Yuwei left the kitchen, she saw Sun Shi and Xu Qianqian angrily enter the courtyard.

Jiang Yuwei frowned. She hadn't kept an eye on Yun Qing while she was in the kitchen eating, and these two had brazenly barged in like that.

What are you doing here?

Xu Qianqian followed behind Madam Sun, her shifty eyes scanning the courtyard before she spoke:

"What? Is your courtyard more valuable than others'? Can't we come?"

"That's right, don't forget you're living under our roof, yet you act like you're the master of the house, not even allowing us to come into your yard!"

As she spoke, Madam Sun spat on the ground and continued:

"Let me tell you, Jiang Yuwei, we can come and go as we please in this courtyard. Do you think this is Ningjia Village, where you can do whatever you want? If Aunt Lin hadn't told me about you just now, I wouldn't have known you were so shameless, coming to live in our house and trying to occupy the courtyard and not let us in!"

Jiang Yuwei sneered upon hearing this. No wonder the two of them still had time to come to her courtyard to cause trouble. It turned out that Aunt Lin had been humiliated by her and was still angry, so she went and instigated these two fools to come and be used as pawns.

"You all have time to meddle in my affairs. Ning Chunlin is keeping a mistress in a golden house, don't you want to go and see?"

Upon hearing this, Madam Sun coughed a few times, feigning composure.

"I don't know anything about being spoiled or pampered, but I do know that your whole family has no shame and refuses to leave the Prince's mansion!"
