Jiang Yuwei glanced at Madam Sun, then looked at Chun Tao, who was huddled behind Madam Sun, and smiled faintly:
"Mrs. Sun is right."
Having said that, he stopped looking at her and turned to Master Sun to continue speaking:
"Second brother, I was thinking that since this shop has been burned down, I don't want to renovate it again. I'm in a hurry to sell it, so I plan to sell it for half the price, one hundred and fifty taels."
Master Sun nodded upon hearing this:
“This price is indeed cheap, and it will be relatively easy to sell. How about this, I see you are in a hurry for money right now, why don’t you just sell this shop to me directly, and I will resell it later.”
Jiang Yuwei was naturally happy to hear this, as it would save her a lot of trouble and at least allow her to see the cash sooner so she could refund the money to the members.
So Jiang Yuwei nodded and said:
"That would be perfect, thank you for your help, Second Brother."
Master Sun nodded and gestured to his servant to take Jiang Yuwei to get the silver.
Seeing this, Madam Sun hurriedly said:
"Sir, why did you buy that burnt-down shop? Isn't that a waste of money? The feng shui of that shop is bad; we can't just throw money away like that. You can't do this just to help Jiang Yuwei; if word gets out, people will think there's something going on between you two!"
Upon hearing this, Master Sun glared and angrily said:
"Shut up! What nonsense are you talking about? Yuwei, don't worry about this. Go with the servants to the accounting office and get the money."
Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei could only nod and leave. She didn't want to get involved in their marital affairs, since business people knew that she was selling her shop at a loss and wouldn't take advantage of Master Sun.
However, since Master Sun was willing to ask for help when I was in trouble, I should remember this kindness.
Jiang Yuwei had just received the silver notes and was about to say goodbye to Master Sun when Chuntao stopped her.
“Our lady said that since you have come all this way, it would be bad for the Sun family if others found out. So please stay for lunch today.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuwei frowned and pondered for a moment. It was indeed inappropriate for her to leave in such a hurry after receiving the money. Now that Madam Sun had spoken up, it must have been because Master Sun had made things clear to her. Perhaps Madam Sun wanted to ease the tension between them.
Thinking this through, Jiang Yuwei nodded to Chun Tao and said:
"Then let's follow Madam Sun's arrangements."
Seeing that Jiang Yuwei agreed so readily, Chun Tao couldn't help but smile slightly, and turned to lead Jiang Yuwei to the inner courtyard.
When Jiang Yuwei arrived, the table was already set. She saw Madam Sun sitting in the main seat with a smile, but Master Sun was nowhere to be seen. So Jiang Yuwei asked:
"Madam Sun, where is my second brother?"
Upon hearing this, Madam Sun rolled her eyes at Jiang Yuwei and said impatiently:
"My husband is always busy with other matters, how could he possibly have time to dine with you? What? You can't even go a short while without seeing my husband? Or is it not enough for me, the dignified Madam of the Sun family, to dine with you?"
Seeing the barbed tone in Madam Sun's words, Jiang Yuwei said no more, simply pulled out a chair, sat down, and smiled:
"Since Second Brother is busy, let's not bother him."
Madam Sun scoffed.
"Alright, let's eat then. Chun Tao, pour her a glass of wine."
Seeing this, Chuntao quickly took the wine warmer and poured a cup of wine for Jiang Yuwei.
Madam Sun raised her wine glass and smiled:
"I have offended you greatly today. My master has spoken to me frankly. I offer you a toast as an apology."
Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei quickly picked up her glass and toasted Madam Sun in return, then downed the wine in one gulp.
Seeing this, Madam Sun smiled and gestured for Chun Tao to serve food to Jiang Yuwei.
Jiang Yuwei ate for only a short while before feeling increasingly hot. The temperature outside was indeed quite high today, but there were ice blocks in the room, and Jiang Yuwei wasn't wearing many clothes, so why was she so hot?
Was the alcohol too strong, and I got drunk after only one glass?
Jiang Yuwei felt increasingly uneasy as she thought about it. She even drank all the tea in front of her, but she only felt thirstier the more she drank.
At this moment, Madam Sun seemed to notice Jiang Yuwei's unusual behavior and hurriedly asked with concern:
"Yuwei, are you drunk? Why don't you let Chuntao help you downstairs to rest, so you don't catch a cold if you go out in the wind?"
Jiang Yuwei felt dizzy and disoriented; she was completely disoriented even if she went out on her own. So she nodded in agreement to Madam Sun's suggestion.
"Alright, then I'll trouble Madam Sun to arrange a place for me to rest for a while. I'll leave the manor once I've rested enough."
Upon hearing this, Madam Sun quickly beckoned Chun Tao over. Madam Sun whispered a few words in Chun Tao's ear and then had Chun Tao help Jiang Yuwei downstairs.
Chun Tao led Jiang Yuwei for quite a while before bringing her to a secluded courtyard. She opened the door and helped Jiang Yuwei onto the bed.
"You can rest here for now. You can leave the manor on your own when you wake up."
After saying that, Chun Tao left Jiang Yuwei and went out the door.
After lying down, Jiang Yuwei felt unbearably hot and dizzy. Just as she was about to fall asleep for a while, she vaguely heard a sound outside the door.
"Feng Rui, have you found him?"
"Madam, I've sent my men to fetch them; they'll be here soon."
"Hmm, is she asleep? It's better if she's asleep so we can proceed."
"I was already drowsy when I took her in, she should be asleep now."
"Hmph, it seems this aphrodisiac is quite effective. Go and prepare some more for me next time. This time, I'm going to make sure Jiang Yuwei is completely disgraced. Let's see if she dares to come to the Sun residence to seduce the master again."
"That's right, she should taste the bitterness of disgrace, so that she won't be so arrogant and think about making a move on our master, and even deliberately incite him to get angry at you, Madam."
"Hmph, go and summon the master later, let him see for himself what kind of filthy things his dear sister has done in our household!"
Hearing the conversation outside the door, Jiang Yuwei finally understood why Madam Sun wanted her to stay for dinner, and why Master Sun was not at the table.
It turns out that he had planned all of this in advance. The man named Feng Rui was someone she had hired to frame her.
Jiang Yuwei tried to get up and escape, but she felt weak in her limbs and couldn't support her body at all.
Right now, she felt that she was having some difficulty breathing, and the feeling of heat in her body was becoming more and more obvious.
Jiang Yuwei regretted her lack of caution towards Madam Sun. She thought that because of her relationship with Master Sun, she couldn't refuse Madam Sun's request to have dinner with her, but she never expected that it would harm her.
Just then, Jiang Yuwei heard the door creak open, followed by a series of hurried footsteps. She could hear the person muttering incoherently.
"Little woman, I'm here. Let your brother taste you!"
