Chapter 343 The Empress's Reward

Upon hearing Jiang Yuwei's words, Chen Guixiang's eyes widened in shock as she looked at the courtyard before her with a horrified expression.

The courtyard was indeed quite large, with plenty of open space. She had seen the servants of the Prince's mansion planting flowers in the courtyard before. It took more than a dozen people three whole days to fill the entire courtyard with flowers and plants.

Now, with Jiang Yuwei's casual remark, Chen Guixiang and her husband were about to uproot all the flowers and plants in the yard and plant vegetables. This really put Chen Guixiang in a difficult position, and her gaze towards Jiang Yuwei couldn't help but carry a hint of resentment.

Seeing that Chen Guixiang was just staring at her without saying anything, Jiang Yuwei frowned and said:

"Sigh, I knew it! We can't just leave the Prince's Mansion like this. Huaizhi and I are really worried about you two!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Guixiang quickly put on a smiling face and took Jiang Yuwei's hand, saying:

"No, you can go without worry. Your father and I will start planting the land in this yard today! No! Right now!"

As she spoke, Chen Guixiang shouted loudly into the house:

"Old man, come out quickly! Don't stay cooped up inside all day. We're going to renovate the yard today!"

Hearing Chen Guixiang's shout, Old Man Ning walked out of the house with a puzzled look on his face.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei quickly stood up with a smile and said:

“Alright, I’ll go and tell the people at the Prince’s residence to send some tools and vegetable seeds over. You can start weeding now.”

Chen Guixiang nodded repeatedly, and seeing that Jiang Yuwei was about to leave, she asked with a worried look:

"If your father and I plant vegetables in this yard, will you be able to move out soon?"

Jiang Yuwei simply smiled and said:

"Only in this way can Huaizhi and I feel at ease letting you two stay in this Prince's Mansion."

Upon hearing this, Chen Guixiang hurriedly urged:

"Alright, then hurry up and have someone from the Prince's residence send over some vegetable seeds."

Jiang Yuwei nodded and left. She didn't say that she was going to move out. She only said that she could rest assured now. She would wait a few days until Chen Guixiang finished planting all the land in their yard before telling her.

Thinking this way, Jiang Yuwei felt much better. It was getting late, so Jiang Yuwei thought she should go to Diancui Courtyard to pick up Ning Wan and take her back to cook.

As soon as they arrived at the entrance of Diancui Courtyard, they saw Madam Sun with Ning Xin and Xu Qianqian, and Ning Chunlin with a young woman standing outside the gate, constantly tiptoeing and peering inside.

Jiang Yuwei pushed through the crowd and was about to enter the courtyard when she heard Xu Qianqian shout from behind:

"If she, an outsider, can enter the hospital, why can't we?"

Sun, standing nearby, chimed in:

"That's right. Now that the palace has sent some rewards, we'd like to go in and see for ourselves. Surely Mother-in-law won't even forbid that!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuwei turned to look at the two people who were staring at her angrily, but said nothing and went straight into the courtyard.

Seeing this, Ning Chunlin pointed at Jiang Yuwei's back and shouted:

"Don't think I'm afraid of you. You're just a general's wife now. How dare you act so arrogantly in front of me!"

Jiang Yuwei ignored the people behind her and quickly entered the courtyard. She wanted to get Ning Wan away from here as soon as possible. After all, in the eyes of outsiders, she and Ning Wan were the outsiders, so it was not appropriate for them to stay in the courtyard for long.

As soon as Jiang Yuwei entered the courtyard, she saw the princess holding Ning Wan's hand and smiling as she asked Ning Wan to choose something.

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei quickly stepped forward, picked up Ning Wan, and said:

"Wan'er, you've spent the whole day with your grandmother. It's time for your grandmother to rest. Let's go back now."

The princess, upon hearing this, naturally knew what Jiang Yuwei was thinking, and so she glared at her.

“Yuwei, you’re being too cautious. The Empress has given me so many gifts that I can’t possibly use them all by myself. I’d like Wan’er to pick a few things she likes to take back first. You can come and pick a few things too.”

Jiang Yuwei quickly waved her hand and said:

"Your Highness, it is really inappropriate for us to take your things now, given our current status. There are so many eyes watching us outside!"

Seeing this, Wang Ma stepped forward and said:

"Madam Jiang, these things were sent by the Empress because she thought that the Princess Consort was still ill and the Prince was fighting on the border and had no time to take care of the family. These are the Princess Consort's things, so naturally she can give them to whomever she wants."

The princess nodded upon hearing this:

“Wang Ma is right. Wang Ma, go and call those people outside in. I want them to see with their own eyes who I’m going to give this to.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Ma nodded in agreement.

Seeing that Jiang Yuwei was still clinging to Ning Wan, the princess simply picked out a set of red coral jewelry and put it on Jiang Yuwei herself.

"Hmm, your skin is fair, this set of jewelry suits you very well. Come and pick out a few more pieces you like to take home."

Just as Jiang Yuwei was about to put down Ning Wan and reach out to remove the jewelry from her head, she saw the group of people waiting outside rushing in, led by Wang Ma, as if they were afraid that if they were a step too slow, the jewelry would be snatched away.

Lian Yao was even more clueless. Relying on Ning Chunlin's favoritism, she went straight up to remove the coral hairpin from Jiang Yuwei's hair.

"Brother Chunlin, this hairpin is beautiful. Look, don't I look even better wearing it?"

Seeing this, Ning Chunlin quickly smiled and nodded, saying:

"It really looks good, you should wear it."

The princess, standing to the side, had already darkened her face upon seeing this.

"Now that I'm sick, they don't take me seriously anymore, so any filthy wretch can come into my yard?"

Upon hearing this, Lianyao quickly turned to look at the princess, then, with a wronged expression, removed the hairpin from her head and said awkwardly:

"I... I really didn't mean to steal this lady's hairpin. Please forgive me, Your Highness."

As she spoke, Lian Yao handed the hairpin directly to Jiang Yuwei. Jiang Yuwei had no choice but to reach out and take it. However, as soon as she reached out, Lian Yao let go of the hairpin and threw it to the ground.

Jiang Yuwei then looked up with interest to examine the woman in front of her. The woman first glared at Jiang Yuwei defiantly, then said in a terrified, tearful voice:

"Oh dear, sister, why didn't you catch it properly? It's such a beautiful hairpin, and now it's broken. What a pity!"

Seeing that Lian Yao dared to act so outrageously in front of the princess, Xu Qianqian couldn't help but feel secretly delighted.

So he hurriedly spoke up:

"I saw it clearly just now, it was definitely you who threw that hairpin on the ground!"

Lian Yao forgot that she was currently at the height of her fame, and Xu Qianqian and Madam Sun had long regarded her as a thorn in their side. Naturally, her small action could not escape their notice.

So he turned around and glanced at Xu Qianqian, a barely perceptible hint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
