Chapter 200 Highway Robbery!

Ning Huaizhi gently patted Jiang Yuwei's head and said softly:

"Okay, I'll do whatever you say, my wife. I'll make wreaths for our godmother with you."

After saying that, the two of them moved all the flowers in front to the backyard and started making wreaths together. It was almost dark when they had made ten. Ning Qiu and Ning Daya finished tidying up the front yard and closed the shop to help in the backyard, while Uncle Ning was busy taking stock of the accounts.

The simpleton was in charge of helping to move things, and Xiao Hei followed closely behind him, wagging its tail. Jiang Yuwei thought that after a few more days, once she had bought most of the things in the shop, she would let the simpleton move back to live there, so that there would be an extra helper in the yard at night.

Ever since Ning Qi came to the shop to steal things, the neighbors have been very polite to Jiang Yuwei, and even Madam Ge has been quiet for a while.

There shouldn't be anything serious in the shop right now. Just leave Xiao Hei to guard it. If any bad guys really come, Xiao Hei can scare them away with a few shouts.

Furthermore, no money is kept in this shop, and all the goods needed every day are brought up from Ningjia Village, so there's naturally nothing to steal.

Working together, the work was indeed done quickly, and the thirty-three wreaths were soon finished. Jiang Yuwei placed all the wreaths in the courtyard, waiting to take them over by oxcart early the next morning.

It was already dark when everyone was about to return to Ningjia Village. Jiang Yuwei lit a lantern and then called everyone to get on the cart. Now that they were going back and forth to the city, Jiang Yuwei was also on guard, as she had kept a bow and arrow on the oxcart for self-defense.

Ning Daya had the dagger that Jiang Yuwei had given her before, which she always carried at her waist. Ning Huaizhi had also given her some verbal instructions on close combat moves, and she often asked Ning Zhao to spar with her.

Ning Daya's mindset has changed ever since a strange man entered the courtyard last time. She now wants to rely on herself more, no matter what. So she is eager to learn some self-defense skills. She also secretly learned from the side when the fool taught Tiezhu and Ning Wu to practice.

Jiang Yuwei saw all of this, but she didn't stop Ning Daya. On the contrary, she greatly admired Ning Daya's change. Otherwise, she wouldn't have thought of taking Ning Daya with her if she were to escape.

If Ning Daya were a frail and delicate girl who died on the way to escape with her, she would definitely feel guilty. Now that Ning Daya has the ability and courage to protect herself, Jiang Yuwei thought of buying Ning Daya.

As everyone was chatting and laughing on their way, Ning Huaizhi suddenly heard a soft rustling sound coming from the woods by the roadside. He immediately frowned and whispered to Jiang Yuwei:

"Yuwei, there's a noise coming from the woods. Tell everyone to be careful."

Jiang Yuwei also noticed Ning Huaizhi's change, so she smiled at Uncle Ning and said:

"Fifth Uncle, it's been a long time since I've ridden in your oxcart. Why don't you drive it from the front? It's too bumpy for Huaizhi to drive. I was already starving, and this bumpy ride has made me even hungrier."

As Jiang Yuwei spoke, she would occasionally glance into the woods.

Uncle Ning knew that Ning Huaizhi's carriage was not bumpy at all, so if Jiang Yuwei wanted to drive the carriage herself, there must be some problem. So he quickly moved from the back to the front and took the reins from Ning Huaizhi's hands.

Ning Huai nodded to Ning Wushu, then took out a slingshot from his pocket. Everyone saw that Jiang Yuwei was holding the bow and arrow tightly, and they quietly handed Ning Wan's small bow and arrow to her as well, and made a "shh" gesture to Ning Wan.

Ning Wan was quick-witted, and she quietly took her bow and arrows, observing her surroundings. Seeing this, Ning Daya also quietly took out the dagger from her waist.

Seeing that everyone else had weapons while she had none, Ning Qiu became anxious and kept trying to signal to Jiang Yuwei with her eyes.

Jiang Yuwei remembered the rope she had bought today, so she took a rope of suitable length and stuffed it into Ning Qiu's hand, smiling as she said:

"Ning Qiu, did you ever play with spinning tops when you were a child?"

Ning Qiu replied with a puzzled look:

"I've played that before, it's just whipping someone with a rope, right?"

Jiang Yuwei nodded and looked at the rope in Ning Qiu's hand.

"Look, this rope is perfect for spinning tops."

Ning Qiu looked down at the rope in her hand, then looked up at Jiang Yuwei with a puzzled expression and murmured:

"Where are the spinning tops here?"

Jiang Yuwei leaned close to Ning Qiu's ear and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear:

"It's the same even if you don't use a spinning top to hit someone."

Upon hearing this, Ning Qiu's eyes widened, and she looked around warily, her fingers gripping the rope tightly with tension.

Just then, two burly men suddenly sprang out of the woods, pointed at the oxcart, and shouted:

"Hey you driving the oxcart up there, stop the hell out there, or I'll chop you up!"

As he spoke, he brandished the large knife in his hand, making a whooshing sound in the quiet night. The sound sent chills down Uncle Ning's spine, and he immediately wanted to stop the oxcart.

Ning Huaizhi noticed something was wrong with him and quickly whispered:

"Uncle Ning, hurry up and leave. Do you really want to stay and let them kill you? You can't trust the words of this kind of person. Don't worry, we have weapons. They won't be able to catch up with us."

Hearing this, Uncle Ning Wu finally calmed down. He looked at the slingshot in Ning Huaizhi's hand and quickly slapped the ox's rump to make the oxcart go even faster.

The two burly men behind him cursed under their breath upon seeing this.

"Damn it, you dare disobey me? I'll catch up with you and kill you!"

He then waved his hand and shouted to his companion beside him:

"Chase after them!"

Seeing this, Jiang Yuwei didn't hesitate and shot directly at the two big men. Ning Wan also wanted to practice her archery, so she shot at one of them in the head.

Jiang Yuwei was afraid that Ning Wan would accidentally hurt someone, so the arrows she prepared for Ning Wan were all blunt, so that they would not cause fatal damage, but would only cause some pain.

The burly man who had been shot in the head by Ning Wan felt he had been tricked and was furious, so he quickened his pace.

Just as he was about to catch up with the oxcart, he saw Ning Qiu swing her whip and lash out fiercely at the burly man. This was the first time she had ever hit someone. Ning Qiu didn't dare open her eyes to look, but she heard the burly man shout:

"Aaaaah, you bitch, you've killed me!"

Ning Qiu then slightly opened her eyes to look at the burly man who was grimacing from her beating. She then lashed out at him with her whip again, causing the man to curse in pain and slow down his pace as he chased the oxcart.

Seeing this, Uncle Ning felt even more confident and kept patting the cow's rump to make it walk faster.

Jiang Yuwei thought she couldn't let these two tails keep following her. If they found out where she lived, it would be even more troublesome. So she quickly aimed an arrow at the leg of one of the big men and shot it. Unexpectedly, she hit the big man right away.

The person in pain immediately knelt on the ground. Just as Jiang Yuwei was wondering why there were only two people involved in the robbery, three people rushed out from in front of the oxcart and blocked its path.
