Chapter 109 No Time to Spend Time

Shen Mingzhi felt that her own affairs had affected a group of people, and she was really embarrassed to let him be bullied.

“I’m afraid you’ll be bullied,” Shen Mingzhi told him.

He came back specifically for her sake, how could she let others bully him?

“I’m a grown man, what am I afraid of being bullied by?” Jiang Shaozhen said.

"Who says a grown man isn't afraid of being bullied? I'm going to check on the research results. What are you planning to do?" Shen Mingzhi felt quite embarrassed.

He came all the way back, but after she finished dealing with her own affairs, she had no time to spend with him.

"It's okay, you go ahead with your work, I'll be back in a bit." Jiang Shaochen was disappointed, but Shen Mingzhi was a career-oriented woman, and he didn't want to hold her back.

"Why don't you come with me to take a look?" Shen Mingzhi felt bad about leaving him here alone.

"Wouldn't that be against the rules?" Jiang Shaozhen couldn't help but ask.

“There’s nothing wrong with the rules.” After Shen Mingzhi finished speaking, she reached out and grabbed his wrist. “You’re my family member, how is that wrong with the rules?”

Jiang Shao Chen's gaze fell on her hands, a smile playing on his lips.

The two entered the workshop, with Shen Mingzhi in front, reminding the workers of precautions.

"Is this Deputy Factory Director Shen's husband? He's so handsome!" a woman asked Shen Mingzhi with a smile.

Shen Mingzhi blushed slightly. "Yes, we've been married and have two children."

“Deputy Factory Director Shen is so young, you can’t tell he’s had a baby!” another male employee chimed in.

"Really?" Shen Mingzhi smiled, then awkwardly raised her hand to fix her hair.

"Deputy Factory Director Shen is extremely busy, she's always on the go, we rarely see her in the workshop. Today, we're so lucky to have her husband here," said another plump woman.

"What does Deputy Factory Director Shen's husband do?" Along the way, everyone chatted with them familiarly.

“He used to be a soldier, but he retired and is now an ordinary worker,” Jiang Shaozhen told them.

"Why……"

Being a soldier is a great honor, and suddenly becoming a worker made everyone look regretful.

“The workers are great too. The country is carrying out economic reforms, and maybe I’ll become a contractor or a project leader in the future,” Jiang Shaozhen told them.

Upon hearing this, everyone just laughed and said, "That's true, we're all just trying to make money anyway, so it doesn't matter where we make it."

“Yes, that’s right,” Jiang Shaozhen said.

Shen Mingzhi discovered that he spoke fluent Beijing dialect, which was quite charming.

After leaving the workshop, Shen Mingzhi went to check on the progress of the new product's research and development.

The recipes she provided were too advanced, but the machines couldn't keep up, and the finished products were always substandard.

Of course, it can be overcome, it just takes time.

As they left the R&D department, Jiang Shaozhen suddenly said, "I know why you insist on staying here. They are all very good people. If the factory closes down, I really don't know where you'll go."

“Yes, I believe Director Sun thinks the same way, so we should take out a loan to pay their wages,” Shen Mingzhi said.

Although she came from the new era, she could understand Director Sun's patriarchal mentality, as well as the country's responsibility to bail out these state-owned enterprises.

To put it bluntly, isn't it all for the sake of making everyone's lives better and better?

“Everyone here is very simple and unpretentious,” Jiang Shaozhen told her.

The two returned to the office, where Director Sun had already come back from outside.

"I made a point of asking around today, and the bad things Jiang Huanyu did have a pretty big impact on our factory. We're all trying to make money, so how could he do something so harmful?" Factory Director Sun took a big gulp from his enamel mug before speaking to her.

"They want to make money, and since their products can't compete with ours, of course they'll resort to underhanded tactics," Shen Mingzhi said. "You've spent the whole morning inquiring about this?"

"That's right... I don't know what impression people have of Baoli now," said Director Sun with a helpless expression.

Shen Mingzhi poured Jiang Shaozhen a glass of water and said calmly, "Baoli's image was already bad before, and she doesn't care if it gets worse."

She firmly believes that product quality is the most important thing.

"Sigh..." Director Sun sat in his chair and said no more.

Shen Mingzhi sat down, took out the documents and opened them. "Is it worse now than it was at the beginning? Our factory was even rated as an excellent enterprise this year. Before, the factory only knew how to make money and couldn't create any profit. Now it's different. We should strive to become a key enterprise in the city."

Upon hearing this, Director Sun couldn't help but say, "Our products have been stigmatized, and we're still a key enterprise."

"It's already being resolved. Once the test results come out, the public will know that our products are good," Jiang Shaozhen said with a smile.

Upon hearing his words, Factory Director Sun simply took a sip of water in silence. "I also went to check on your new product when I came back, and not a single box was successful."

“Developing new products isn’t that easy. Have you lost patience now because you succeeded too easily before?” Shen Mingzhi said helplessly.

She was writing a sales plan for the new product launch, but Director Sun kept rambling on and on, and she had no idea what to do.

Upon hearing her words, Director Sun took a sip of water and said, "Then you go ahead with your work, I'll go check on the workshop."

“If you have nothing better to do, could you help me urge them to hurry up with the new packaging? It’s due in a few days, and we don’t even know the status of the packaging right now,” Shen Mingzhi told him.

"Okay, otherwise I'll feel uneasy sitting here." Factory Director Sun is now semi-retired, and Shen Mingzhi handles almost everything, big or small. He usually rides his bicycle around the streets and alleys to check the reputation of their products when he has nothing to do.

Poly used to have a bad reputation and was often labeled with negative stereotypes.

Now that Shen Mingzhi has arrived, Baoli's reputation has improved somewhat, which makes him happy.

After he left, Shen Mingzhi raised her hand and pressed her temples.

"Are you annoyed by him?" Jiang Shaozhen asked while drinking water.

“No, he just keeps nagging. Sometimes when I’m busy, he keeps talking non-stop, interrupting my train of thought when I’m writing a sales plan. He doesn’t mean any harm, he just likes to nag.” Shen Mingzhi said, shaking her head unconsciously.

"Then remind him next time to talk less when you're doing things?" Jiang Shao Chen said with a smile.

“I can understand him. The factory has been struggling for a long time, relying entirely on loans to stay afloat. Now that this has happened, he’s more afraid of going back to the way things were before than anyone else, so it’s no wonder he’s been nagging a bit,” Shen Mingzhi said, continuing to write the sales plan.

It was almost noon when she and Jiang Shaochen returned home.

In late autumn, the temperature in Beijing is already quite low.

Shen Mingzhi got into the car with the sales plan, and Jiang Shaozhen started driving.

"When are you going back to Guangzhou?" she asked Jiang Shaozhen after getting on the bus.

"Engineer Ye told me not to worry, he would call home three days in advance if he needed to contact me," Jiang Shaozhen said.

Upon hearing this, Shen Mingzhi felt a surge of joy, though she herself didn't realize it.
