Chapter 14 The Hypocritical Man

The next morning, Shen Mingzhi was catching up on sleep because she hadn't slept well the night before while taking care of the child.

With a creak, the door was pushed open.

Jiang Yinyin stood at the door, saw her on the bed, and demanded at the top of her lungs, "Why haven't you left yet?!"

Shen Mingzhi was woken up, looked up from under the covers, saw her, and then immediately crawled back under the covers.

Jiang Yinyin walked in and yanked her off the bed. "Didn't my brother make things clear to you last night? How dare you stay here? Pack your things and get out of here with your two little bastards!"

Now that Jiang Shaozhen is no longer around, she has no reason to be afraid of Shen Mingzhi.

Shen Mingzhi slapped her earlier, and she hasn't gotten her revenge yet!

"What did you say?" Jiang Shaozhen hadn't returned to this room last night, and Shen Mingzhi assumed he was avoiding suspicion.

Jiang Yinyin pretended to walk over and sit down, saying sarcastically, "It seems my brother is too embarrassed to tell you, so let me tell you. Last night, the Song family came to our door in person and talked to my parents. They've already decided to kick you out and call off the marriage."

Shen Mingzhi's face showed shock.

For a moment, she almost believed Jiang Yinyin, but when she thought of how Jiang Yinyin had spoken ill of her from the beginning, Shen Mingzhi calmed down instantly.

"You think I'll believe you just because you say so?" She stared into Jiang Yinyin's eyes, her tone full of doubt.

Jiang Yinyin smiled confidently, "I knew you wouldn't believe me so easily. This is a letter my brother wrote himself, kicking you out. Do you want to see it?"

Shen Mingzhi saw her take out a handwritten letter from Jiang Shaozhen from her pocket.

The envelope was addressed to: Shen Mingzhi.

Shen Mingzhi saw his handwriting in his room last night.

It was indeed written by him.

Jiang Yinyin gripped the letter tightly, her heart pounding with nervousness, but her tone was anxious, "You're not afraid to read it, are you? If you won't, I'll read it to you!"

She's so noisy.

Seeing that Jiang Yinyin was about to tear open the envelope, Shen Mingzhi said calmly, "No need, I will pack my things and leave by myself."

She never expected that Jiang Shaozhen's avoidance of her wasn't because he was a gentleman.

Rather, it was the Song family that put pressure on him, so he compromised.

Of course, Shen Mingzhi could understand that rank matters, especially in the 1980s.

Perhaps from the very beginning, he only wanted to gain a good reputation.

However... she didn't expect that Jiang Shao Chen, who seemed so open and honest on the surface, would cower in the face of such a situation, refusing to explain things to her personally and instead letting his sharp-tongued sister force her to leave.

They say one thing to your face and another behind your back.

Shen Mingzhi got up and left behind the clothes that Jiang Shaozhen had bought for her.

While making the bed, she found a stack of money under the pillow.

Knowing that Jiang Shaochen might have left it out of guilt, Shen Mingzhi didn't stand on ceremony. She rolled it up, put it in her pocket, and then left with the two children in her arms.

As she walked out of the Jiang family compound carrying her two children, she looked at the people coming and going on the street and felt lost for a moment.

With two children to support and not much money to spare... she'll run out of money sooner or later, and she hasn't found a way to make a living yet.

She took a step and walked into the crowd.

Shen Mingzhi was beautiful, and many young men passing by stared at her.

Shen Mingzhi carried the child to the entrance of a courtyard house and knocked on the door.

A moment later, a young man opened the door.

She spoke first, "I saw a sign outside the courtyard saying that they can accommodate migrant workers from the countryside and provide accommodation, so I came to ask."

The young man guarding the courtyard quickly stepped aside and invited her in.

After Shen Mingzhi went inside, the young man peeked out and then closed the door. "Let's get this straight, it's two yuan a month, and you can only stay in the attic."

“Okay, can we go take a look?” Shen Mingzhi knew that in this day and age, directly using the guise of a taxi would get you arrested and made an example of, and you might even be convicted.

"Come with me." The young man led Shen Mingzhi into the courtyard.

After entering the innermost room, he led Shen Mingzhi inside to a small attic room of less than 20 square meters. The young man unlocked the door, stood by the door, and said, "Here you are. As long as you stay here quietly and don't go around talking nonsense, you'll generally be allowed to stay until it's time to leave."

“I know.” Shen Mingzhi looked around at the furnishings in the room.

Although the location is not good and it's close to the outhouse next door, it's still convenient for her, isn't it?

"I'm raising my child alone, could you give me a discount of two cents? It's one dollar and eighty cents a month, but I'd like to keep two cents for my child to buy some food, sir, please." Shen Mingzhi had no other choice now; finding a place to stay was the most important thing.

The young man scratched his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.

He's only in charge of collecting rent here; he doesn't have the authority to set prices.

But seeing that Shen Mingzhi was indeed beautiful and charming, he couldn't refuse, so he said, "Then wait for me to make a phone call."

"Thank you so much," Shen Mingzhi said gratefully.

After the young man locked the door and left, she sat on the threshold and rested against the door.

She carried the two children for an hour, and her arms were about to break...

After sitting for a while, the young man returned and gave her the key. "The master agreed to let you pay for three months first."

"Okay, but could you open the door for me first? I need to carry the child inside and put him on the bed. My hands are about to break." Shen Mingzhi actually had at least a hundred on her.

But she couldn't let anyone see her, lest she be murdered for her money.

The young man didn't rush her; he opened the door for her and even took her bag for her.

Seeing only a few tattered clothes in her bundle, he silently placed it on the table in the room. "Sister, you rent a room alone. Where's your husband? Don't you have any relatives?"

"Well... the child's father is dead, and I was kicked out of the house by his parents." Shen Mingzhi revealed a sorrowful expression.

The young man looked at him with sympathy and said, "You're quite pitiful. If you have any problems later, come to me. I'm going to the door now. Once you've tidied yourself up, just bring the money over."

After he left, Shen Mingzhi relaxed.

She put Jiang Nian and Jiang Zhou on the bed, took out a roll of money from her pocket, put the large denominations together, and put it back in her pocket. She had scraped together three months' rent in small amounts and gave it to the young man.

After settling in, she took the child out to buy daily necessities.

The Chiang family.

Jiang Qing and Jiang Guofu returned from outside.

Jiang Yinyin was sitting on the sofa at home, eating fruit and watching TV.

"Shen Mingzhi hasn't gotten up yet?" Jiang Qing frowned, her tone tinged with displeasure.

Because of the Song family's visit last night, she is now particularly dissatisfied with Shen Mingzhi.

"She knew my brother had been dispatched, and I don't know what went wrong, she just grabbed the child and left. She must have thought that my brother might not be back for a long time, and she was afraid that we would bully her, so she ran away quickly," Jiang Yinyin replied impatiently.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Guofu's expression changed drastically. "What? She took the child too?!"
