Chapter 118 Where to hide her?

Wei Jing's brows furrowed, his dark eyes unfathomable.

He helped Hua Cui up from the ground and hurriedly asked, "What do you mean by that? Does your sister-in-law also think there's something wrong with them?"

Hua Cui nodded and told Wei Jing everything that had happened since she went to fetch the spices the day before.

"Upon learning that it was the shopkeeper who wouldn't let me leave, the young lady was furious and said she would never go to that spice shop again, believing that he must have some ulterior motive."

"I had already decided not to go, so Miss didn't pursue the matter further, but I never expected that she would... disappear today!"

After saying this, Hua Cui covered her face and wept bitterly again.

Wei Jing's expression was somber, radiating a chilling aura.

Yesterday he was just with a few people and didn't know what they talked about.

Now that Hua Cui has spoken like this, the spice shop is indeed highly suspicious, but he had clearly investigated it before and found nothing amiss.

Where exactly does the problem lie?

"Go to the spice shop first and make sure to find out where this turmeric incense comes from!"

Holding the jade pendant in his hand, the warm jade felt comforting to the touch, but the scent emanating from it was truly terrifying. If Wei Jing wasn't mistaken, the strongest scent emanating from Jiang Mingwei came from this jade pendant!

At this moment, Wei Jing felt particularly regretful.

Why couldn't you stop Jiang Mingwei and ask her about it then?

Perhaps this troublesome situation wouldn't have happened...

The group rushed to the spice shop.

Upon seeing the flower extract, the spice vendor immediately put on a beaming smile.

"It's you again, young lady! What new spices does your wife want this time? We just restocked them all yesterday, so you can find all kinds today!"

He smiled obsequiously and quickly introduced the flowers to Hua Cui, "Look, this is the finest orchid fragrance, this is..."

Before he could finish speaking, a cold voice came from the doorway.

"Why don't you explain to me why you have the incense from the Northern Frontier?"

The spice vendor was taken aback, a look of fear crossing his face.

Turning my head to look towards the door, I saw a tall, slender figure with a gloomy face and a cold, eerie light.

His black robes accentuated his tall and straight figure, giving him a commanding presence and an imposing aura.

The immense pressure even made it hard for him to breathe!

He happened to be holding the jade pendant that Jiang Mingwei had used earlier!

Seeing the hostile man and then looking at Hua Cui with a cold expression, the spice merchant sensed something was wrong and smiled even more obsequiously.

"What did you say, young master? Dharani incense? I've never even heard of it, how would I know what it is? You must have misunderstood something!"

“Our shop has all kinds of incense, but this Tuoluo incense is something I’ve never heard of before. Why would I stock it?”

"Unheard of! Do you really think everyone's a fool? Don't you know what this tastes like?!"

Wei Jing was furious and clenched the jade pendant in his hand. Qingfeng rushed out from behind and grabbed the shopkeeper by the throat without saying a word, pinning him against the counter and staring at him with sharp eyes.

Now that the truth has been laid out, yet he still pretends to be mysterious and refuses to tell the truth, then don't blame them for showing no mercy!

With a crash, the porcelain vases on the counter fell to the ground.

The scent of face powder filled everyone's noses, so sweet it was nauseating.

"Wait, wait a minute, gentlemen, what are you doing! This is a small business, a legitimate transaction. Why are you attacking me? I haven't done anything wrong!"

"It seems you won't shed tears until you see the coffin. I came here in disguise before, and I never smelled any tara incense. But the owner of this jade pendant always has it on him/her when he/she comes here. Is this a coincidence... or is it a way for you to mark your candidates!"

Wei Jingmo's dark eyes were deep as he spoke coldly.

Hua Cui was even more furious, clenching her fists and glaring at her with bloodshot eyes.

"You wicked person! How could someone be so vicious? My young lady is a patron of your business, and you dare to kidnap her! Give her back! Do you even know who she is? Don't you want to die?!"

Seeing that the group of people had ill intentions, the spice merchant also turned fierce and stopped begging for mercy.

"Even if you two are wronged, it's simply not true. What does the disappearance of your lady have to do with our little shop? If you have any doubts, then feel free to search us!"

"Search the front and back yards as you please. If you can find her, I will gladly go to the government office with you today. But if you can't find her, don't blame me for accusing you of false accusation!"

Wei Jing narrowed his eyes dangerously and gave Qingfeng a wink.

He nodded, then immediately slipped into the backyard to begin searching for Jiang Mingwei.

Wei Jing paced back and forth in the spice shop, his face filled with coldness.

At each place I went, I would stop and observe, carefully discerning the surrounding scents.

However, after searching for a long time, I still couldn't smell the fragrance of dharani.

Looking at the spice vendor not far away, he was uncomfortably tugging at his collar, glaring at them with resentment, as if blaming them for ruining his business.

Since the commotion, several customers who wanted to enter his shop have immediately turned around and left.

But right now, nothing is more important than finding Jiang Mingwei.

Even if we kill a thousand innocent people, we must never let one guilty person go free!

Moreover, this spice shop is indeed highly suspicious...

After searching the first floor, Wei Jing led the shopkeeper upstairs to continue the search.

Having found nothing, he went downstairs again.

However, as soon as he went downstairs, a familiar fragrance wafted past his nose, and he immediately stopped and turned to look at the spice vendor beside him.

He clearly smelled it too!

His expression was flustered, and he looked terrified, as if he had been caught red-handed.

Even though he tried his best to remain calm, the person he was facing was a general, someone who had fought bloody battles on the battlefield. How could he not see through such a despicable tactic?

Wei Jing's expression suddenly turned cold and fierce. He grabbed her and lifted her high into the air!

"How long are you going to keep this a secret? Hand over the incense right now! Is her disappearance related to you? If you don't tell me, I'll kill you!"

With his inner strength gathering in his hands, exuding an imposing aura, the spice merchant was completely thrown into a panic.

Fear flashed in his eyes, and he nodded repeatedly!

"Speak! I'll talk! I'll talk, okay? Please don't kill me, please don't kill me!"

He clutched his head in terror, his face contorted with fear.

Hua Cui's eyes widened in fury, and she pointed at him, launching into a tirade of curses.

"You heartless, despicable merchant! Where did you take my young lady? Why are you treating her like this? Release her at once!"

"Please spare me, please spare me! I truly have no idea where your lady has gone! I do have tamarisk incense in my spice shop, but I only supply it because someone wants it!"

"Apart from the incense, I have nothing else to say."

“This shop isn’t that big. Your people have already investigated. If they can find your lady, surely they can find her. Her disappearance really has nothing to do with me!”

The spice vendor looked troubled, then shakily walked to the stairs, fumbled around, and forcefully broke open a small bag of tamarisk incense, revealing it.

The previously faint fragrance suddenly became clear and distinct.

Wei Jing covered his mouth and nose in disgust, his expression gloomy.

I was right!
