Chapter Eleven: The Money-Giving Boy Arrives

Hua Cui was startled by Jiang Mingwei's sudden imposing manner and shrank back.

"Oh? Miss, where are we going?"

Before she got married, Jiang Mingwei would often meet up with a few of her sisters.

But ever since she married into the Wei family and was closely controlled by Madam Zhou, she has hardly ever stepped out of the gate. Even the little maid Hua Cui is afraid of the word "going out".

Jiang Mingwei helplessly put one hand on her hip and poked her little head.

"Where else can we go? Of course, we'll go to my shop and get rid of all those damned parasites, so they can stop using my name to swindle and cheat people!"

"Really? Then I'll have to pick out a nice dress for you, Miss!"

Although she was a little scared, Hua Cui wanted to go out for some fresh air after being cooped up at home for so long.

Nodding repeatedly, he soon brought Jiang Mingwei a light green dress. The bright and beautiful color would surely make her look good against her fair skin.

Jiang Mingwei frowned. "Let's change into something else. We're out running errands today, not going for a stroll. This color is too bright."

"But this was once Miss's favorite dress!"

Hua Cui held the dress in her hands, looking puzzled, and Jiang Mingwei's heart suddenly panicked.

Although she shares the same name as the original owner, their personalities and perspectives are vastly different!

"I still like it now! But today I'm busy with business, so I shouldn't be too flashy. I'll find a light-colored one, the plainer the better."

Hua Cui responded with an "oh".

A moment later, she brought over an apricot-colored dress.

The stitches are fine and smooth, the color is not outstanding, but the material is excellent, and the embroidery is first-class.

It is elegant, simple, and very sophisticated.

"Okay, this is it!"

After changing her clothes, Hua Cui skillfully styled Jiang Mingwei's hair into a flowing cloud bun, making her look gentle and charming.

Looking at the familiar face in the mirror, Jiang Mingwei never dreamed that she, who was rushing to finish her thesis like a dog, could actually look quite presentable when she dressed up!

After tidying up, the two left the courtyard.

As she lowered her head, lifted her skirt, and swept across the threshold, Jiang Mingwei, unaware of the person in front of her, suddenly bumped into a wall of flesh, the scent of sandalwood filling her nostrils.

Her nose stung from the impact, and as she staggered and looked up, she met a pair of deep, dark eyes.

"Sister-in-law, be careful!"

Wei Jing nervously reached out to stop Jiang Mingwei to prevent her from falling. The two were in an extremely ambiguous position. After a moment of hesitation, they quickly separated!

Jiang Mingwei took a step back, her heart pounding wildly, and gently rubbed the tip of her nose.

She kept her head down, unable to see the man, but could he not see her?

They just crashed into her like that! What if they broke her mother's little upturned nose during childbirth?

The impact stung, and Jiang Mingwei's eyes were red, though she also looked somewhat shy.

Wei Jing was terrified and quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, sister-in-law, I offended you."

"It's alright, just be more careful when you walk next time." Jiang Mingwei shook her head and looked around.

Apart from Wei Jing and his attendant Qingfeng, there was no one else around. Qingfeng was carrying large and small bags, almost overwhelming everyone else.

"Second brother, what's going on..."

“I’m feeling much better thanks to my sister-in-law’s care these past few days. I came here specifically to apologize and these are gifts for her.”

Wei Jing took a step back and bowed respectfully to her, making Jiang Mingwei beam with joy.

Oh dear, so they're just here to throw money away!

She was terrified. She knew it! She hadn't done anything to anger Wei Jing recently, so he couldn't have killed her, could he?

"I'm so sorry, taking care of my second brother is just my duty as the eldest sister-in-law, there's no need to be so polite!"

"Come on, Hua Cui, quickly help Qingfeng take his things inside, don't tire him out!"

She smiled and beckoned to Hua Cui, leading the things inside.

The breeze made it sway precariously, and the corner of its mouth twitched.

She said she was embarrassed, but I didn't see the First Madam actually refusing the gift...

However, Wei Jing felt comforted.

He never liked owing favors, and the mix of guilt and gratitude caused him to dream about Jiang Mingwei for the past few days, keeping him awake at night...

Therefore, as soon as he felt better, he immediately went to the door to express his gratitude.

Now that Jiang Mingwei has accepted these gifts, he has repaid this favor.

While the two were putting their things down, Wei Jing finally had time to carefully examine Jiang Mingwei's outfit.

Unlike her usual elaborate and gorgeous attire, she looked fresh and pleasant today, and a look of amazement flashed in Wei Jing's eyes.

He coughed lightly, quickly suppressing the inappropriate thought.

Whatever Jiang Mingwei wears has nothing to do with him.

"Is Sister-in-law going out?"

“Of course, now that Mother has returned my dowry, there are some problems with the shop's accounts, and I need to go out and investigate.”

Wei Jing nodded: "Should I escort my sister-in-law there?"

"No need." Jiang Mingwei shook her head. The original owner's death was caused by Wei Jing. Even though their relationship had improved now, Jiang Mingwei still wanted to stay away from him.

"My second brother is now a rising star in the court. He has just recovered from a serious illness and must have many people to visit. I won't take up any more of your time."

She smiled slightly, but the smile didn't reach her eyes, and Wei Jing could easily sense her aloofness.

"Alright, then sister-in-law, please be careful on your journey."

After Hua Cui came out, Jiang Mingwei followed her toward the mansion gate.

Qingfeng shook his aching arms and muttered, "Second Master, did we give too many gifts?"

"My guilt towards my sister-in-law is nothing."

"What is there for Second Master to feel guilty about? It's just that he used her method and recovered a little faster..."

He murmured softly, but didn't see that Wei Jing's ears were flushed red.

On the night he took the Chinese medicine, Qingfeng happened to be on leave and not on duty, so he was unaware of what had happened.
