Chapter Sixty-One: The Things That Trouble the Boy

The shopkeeper was slightly taken aback upon hearing this.

He was a member of the Jiang family, so he naturally knew who Jiang Mingwei's brother and sister-in-law were. He just hadn't seen them in a long time and hadn't remembered them for a moment.

Hearing Jiang Mingwei mention it now feels like a lifetime ago.

“Young Master and Young Mistress? They have never been here. The Holy Medicine Hall is also a business of the Jiang family, and they have a very familiar Doctor Chen there. Therefore, they mostly seek medical treatment at the Holy Medicine Hall and don’t come to our Renyifang very often.”

The two medical clinics, Sheng Yi Tang and Ren Yi Fang, were originally equally renowned.

Renyifang even had better business because it had imperial physicians on duty.

Later, everything was destroyed by the Zhou family, and now they can't even reach the foot of the Holy Doctor Hall.

The shopkeeper was filled with emotion when he thought about it.

If his wages hadn't remained unchanged all along, he probably wouldn't have been able to hold on and would have left.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Mingwei seemed to be deep in thought.

"Do you know that Dr. Chen? Are you familiar with him? What kind of person is he?"

"You're putting me in a difficult position, Miss! Although we both come from the Jiang family, we are competitors. We should avoid each other as much as possible, so how could we possibly become acquainted in private?"

The shopkeeper chuckled and shook his head, looking helpless.

"However, as far as I know, this Doctor Chen is quite famous. Although he comes from the common people, it is said that his medical skills are even better than some of the imperial physicians."

"I understand."

Jiang Mingwei nodded, and as she prepared to leave, she reminded the shopkeeper to send someone to find the medicinal herbs she had drawn as soon as possible.

If you find it, send someone to the general's mansion to inform her; you must do so as quickly as possible.

The shopkeeper nodded repeatedly, and Jiang Mingwei then left with Hua Cui.

I remember seeing Li Yihuan poisoned last time. The poison was lurking in his body. He was no different from others on ordinary days, but once it broke out, it was extremely dangerous.

The outbreak will occur in five phases. If a cure cannot be found after all five phases, not only will the child in her womb perish, but she herself will likely die as well.

If she's not mistaken, the first outburst will probably happen in the next few days.

Therefore, she needs to prepare as soon as possible.

Even though she had a bad relationship with Jiang Mingjin, Li Yihuan was a rare and good sister-in-law.

Having arrived here in place of the original owner, she knew that fate was inescapable, so... she had to find a way to save Li Yihuan's life.

Moreover, if Jiang Mingwei's calculations are correct, Li Yihuan's days before the outbreak should have been extremely unstable.

Therefore, she did not come to the General's Mansion on the day of the housewarming banquet.

Perhaps we should ask Wei Jing when we get back what happened when Jiang Mingjin came that day.

Jiang Mingwei did not see him when she saw the guests off at the end of the banquet.

It seems they left early. Could it be related to Li Yihuan?

Upon returning to the general's mansion, she immediately went to find Wei Jing.

Wei Jing was not in the courtyard; he was reportedly in his study.

So she immediately turned around and walked towards the study. At the door of the study, she was stopped by Qingfeng.

"Is there something you need, Madam?"

Qingfeng asked, puzzled. Jiang Mingwei nodded: "There are some things I want to ask my second brother. Is he here?"

"Second Master is currently dealing with some matters. If Madam is not in a hurry, you may return first. Once Second Master has finished, I will inform him that Madam has been here. It may not be convenient at the moment."

Qingfeng wore a troubled smile and spoke sincerely.

Jiang Mingwei didn't want to put him in a difficult position, and since it wasn't something she needed to know immediately, she smiled faintly, said it was fine, and turned to leave.

Qingfeng breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn't expected the First Madam to be so easy to talk to; all his mental preparation had been for nothing.

If everyone in the Wei family were as easy to talk to as the First Madam, that would be wonderful!

Just as he was deep in thought, the door behind him was suddenly pulled open, and Qingfeng's smile froze on his face.

Jiang Mingwei turned her head and saw Wei Jing, tall and slender, standing at the door of the study, staring at her calmly.

Clearly, he had overheard the conversation outside.

"My sister-in-law came to visit suddenly. Is she looking for me?"

Jiang Mingwei glanced at Wei Jing, then turned to Qingfeng.

He asked in confusion, "Isn't my second brother busy with something? It's fine if I come later."

Qingfeng looked helpless. How could a master be so sabotaging his own people?

If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have spoken up for Wei Jing!

But Wei Jing had clearly instructed him that if he had important business to attend to, he should not see anyone who came.

Why is it that now that the First Madam has arrived, he has taken the initiative to open the door?

"It's almost done. Sister-in-law, if you have anything to say, please feel free to speak up."

Jiang Mingwei thought for a moment, then stepped into the study.

"Then I'll take my leave."

This was the first time she had set foot in Wei Jing's study.

The study was decorated with great elegance, with bamboo and chrysanthemums planted outside and sandalwood carvings inside.

It has an antique charm and is perfectly natural.

The bookshelves were filled with all kinds of books, mostly military treatises, but also some on governance.

On a long pear wood table, there was a sheet of Xuan paper spread out, the scent of ink lingering in the air, mixed with the fragrance of sandalwood, extremely pleasant, making one feel relaxed and at ease...

"My second brother's study is decorated exceptionally well; you can tell he put a lot of effort into it."

Upon hearing this, Wei Jing's eyes brightened slightly, and he said in a low voice, "Really? Actually, I also think that this study is very well decorated."

He was not modest; his tone was frank, and his mood was one of unprecedented elation.

Previously, in the Wei family mansion, although there was a study, it was a place where Master Wei and Wei Zhi studied.

For Wei Jing, it was forbidden territory.

He was despised and unworthy of entering such a "luxury" place.

Want to read and write?

They could only make do in the dilapidated Listening to the Rain Pavilion.

Even after Master Wei died and Wei Zhi died on the battlefield, Wei Jing was still not allowed to enter the Wei family's study after he returned.
