Chapter Sixty: Parents' Love for Their Children

Jiang Mingwei felt a little embarrassed by the compliment, smiled shyly, and said modestly.

"It's nothing, maybe the lady just thinks our clothes look good."

"That's because your design was good, otherwise the princess wouldn't have taken a liking to you!"

Liu Rulan patted the back of her hand and said with emotion.

Jiang Mingwei was unwilling to say more, but Hua Cui wouldn't allow her young lady to be so low-key.

She immediately raised her chin, her face full of pride, and said, "Manager Lan, you don't know this, but the princess didn't just take a fancy to Miss's dress. Miss and the princess had a very pleasant conversation at the housewarming banquet, and they even strolled through the garden together. Her Highness the princess really likes Miss!"

"Really? That's wonderful!"

Liu Rulan looked at Jiang Mingwei with a relieved expression: "Weiwei, you don't know, it has always been a regret of your mother that you don't have any close girlfriends. She knows that you have a strong personality and don't like to be wronged, so she doesn't know how to help you."

"Later she died in depression, still worried. Now that you can be friends with the big boss, she will surely rest in peace. You've done well."

Jiang Mingwei was slightly taken aback, and looked up at Liu Rulan in shock.

"Aunt Lan, do you think my mother... has been thinking about this all along?"

"Yes, what parent doesn't worry about their child? She worries that you don't have any close friends, and she worries that your relationship with your brother is getting worse. But there's only so much she can do."

With a sigh, Liu Rulan nodded solemnly.

Jiang Mingwei suddenly recalled the original owner's memories. Before she was married, Madam Jiang did often invite various noble ladies to go on outings.

However, because the original owner had a bad temper and was always arrogant and domineering, he did not get along well with the group of noble ladies and often quarreled with them, so he made a fuss and refused to go.

At these times, the mother and daughter would feel resentful.

The original owner didn't understand why her mother still wanted her to befriend those people when they clearly didn't like her.

Her father was the Grand Chancellor and the Prime Minister. Even if he disdained to associate with them, who would dare to give her a hard time?

Madam Jiang was just afraid that the original owner would have no friends and no one to confide in in the future, so she wanted her to get along well with those noble ladies.

They don't understand each other.

This misunderstanding remained unresolved even until death...

Parents who love their children plan far ahead for them.

If the original owner had been willing to calm down and think things through, how could she have missed her mother's silent yet enduring love?

Fortunately, at least she understood.

Seeing Jiang Mingwei's dejected expression, Liu Rulan knew that she had touched a nerve.

He quickly clapped his hands, trying to soothe the situation, "Alright, that's enough. All these dresses are sold out. Do you have any other good ideas?"

"These tailors said that your ideas are better than those of the designers we hired before. If you can come up with more ideas, then come up with more!"

"Of course, I have many good ideas here. I will draw up the blueprints when I get back and try to send them over within three days, so that the craftsmen can choose from them."

"Don't worry, Aunt Lan, I have plenty of ideas in my head. Now that I have the opportunity, I'll put them all into practice!"

"That's wonderful!" Liu Rulan smiled with relief.

The commotion ahead grew even louder; clearly, they were in for a busy time again.

Jiang Mingwei had no choice but to say goodbye for the time being. After Liu Rulan saw her off from the backyard, she hurriedly lifted her skirt and went back to the store to maintain order.

"That's wonderful, Miss! Now that the clothing store's business is booming, the other shops will surely follow suit. I think our lives will only get better and better!"

Hua Cui said with a beaming smile, feeling that everyone was in high spirits lately, and that her young lady had finally seen the light after all the clouds had parted.

Surprisingly, everything I encountered was a joyous occasion.

Jiang Mingwei shook her head helplessly and reached out to pinch her cheek.

"Don't get too excited yet. I'm just worried that things have been going too smoothly lately. If something really happens, it'll be too late!"

"Pah, pah, pah, Miss, what nonsense are you talking about? Our lives will only get better and better, how could anything unexpected happen? Miss, you're just worrying too much. Don't say such discouraging things next time!"

The two walked and talked, and soon arrived at Renyifang.

Unlike the bustling Huarong Clothing Store, this place was deserted as usual, and the shopkeeper was even dozing off behind the counter.

However, unlike the day before, he no longer lay directly on the chair; he simply rested his head on the counter, showing some restraint.

Jiang Mingwei stepped forward, raised her hand and knocked on the counter, and the shopkeeper immediately woke up from his sleep.

Seeing Jiang Mingwei's surprised expression, he quickly put on a big smile.

"Miss, what brings you here?"

Before Jiang Mingwei could speak, he quickly opened the drawer behind him and showed her the medicinal herbs inside.

"Don't worry, Miss. I've replaced all the herbs inside. They're all clean, and I haven't skimped on anything. We've also had more people coming to get medicine recently, but not many. Most of them aren't well-off."

"However, I followed Miss's instructions completely, and gave them the full weight of the medicine. I would never dare to hold back even a little bit!"

Jiang Mingwei didn't say anything, but stepped forward to open the drawer and checked. Sure enough, all the medicines had been replaced.

She picked it up and smelled it; it certainly wasn't a substandard product.

While the quality isn't exceptional, it's more than sufficient for most common ailments.

"You did a good job, you were obedient."

She took out the silver notes she had prepared beforehand and handed them to the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper's eyes widened as he looked at the silver notes.

No one told him that as long as he followed the young lady's orders, he would be rewarded!

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, thank you for your kind gift, Miss!"

The shopkeeper, with a fawning smile on his face, reached out to grab the silver notes.

Before she could even touch it, Jiang Mingwei pulled back.

"This banknote isn't a reward for you. You've just been doing your job well. Why would I reward you? This banknote is for you to use to do things for me."

"Of course, since you've put in the effort, you'll naturally get paid. One-third of it is yours, and the rest... all of it has to go to the people who helped with the work! I'll have someone investigate, so you're not allowed to pocket any of it."

Jiang Mingwei stared intently at the shopkeeper and warned him.

The shopkeeper nodded and bowed repeatedly, his attitude respectful.

"Yes, we will follow Miss's lead in everything!"

After receiving an affirmative answer, Jiang Mingwei raised an eyebrow, took out a stack of papers from her sleeve, and handed them to the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper took it, glanced at it, and frowned.

"Miss, what you've painted is..."

"These are the medicinal herbs I wrote down last time, but you didn't recognize them. Take this money and have the herb gatherers take the map up the mountain to find them. For each one they find, I'll give them an extra five taels as a reward!"

Five taels of silver? That's quite a lot!

The shopkeeper was surprised, but he nodded repeatedly in agreement.

"Yes, yes, Miss, don't worry, I will definitely explain everything clearly and have them take care of it!"

Jiang Mingwei nodded in satisfaction, but couldn't help asking, "Brother and sister-in-law, have they been here before?"
