Chapter Thirty-Two: Disdain for Her Precious Grandson

Before Wei Heng could answer, Zhou immediately started promoting her grandson with a smile.

“Master Wang, this grandson of mine is my son’s own son. My son is Wei Zhi, the youngest fifth-rank general in this dynasty. How could his child be anything less than exceptional?”

Having grown accustomed to Zhou's arrogant and domineering manner in the past, it was truly comical to see her now smiling with wrinkles all over her face and her cheekbones practically popping out.

Jiang Mingwei couldn't help but chuckle, and everyone's attention immediately focused on the two people at the door.

A hint of displeasure flashed in Zhou's eyes, but after glancing at the King of Eyes, she could only suppress her anger.

"Teacher, it's been many years. I hope you've been well."

Jiang Mingwei stepped forward and bowed to Wang Dajia.

Zhou scoffed coldly, "Who is Master Wang? You are a woman. Even if your brother is his student, how can you call him teacher? Isn't that an insult to his reputation!"

Wang Dajia glanced at Zhou Shi, then looked at Jiang Mingwei with gentle eyes and nodded slightly.

"Mingwei, it has been so long since we last met. I almost didn't recognize you. Please sit down."

With just one sentence, he saved Jiang Mingwei from further trouble.

Zhou's face turned ashen. She looked at Wang Dajia in shock, then glared at Jiang Mingwei with resentment.

Jiang Mingwei ignored her and sat down on her own.

Wang Dajia then squinted and looked at Wei Jing, who was tall and imposing.

"And this is...?"

"Junior Wei Jing greets Master Wang."

"Oh, it's General Wei! Please rise and take a seat."

Wang Dajia quickly stepped forward to help Wei Jing, who was about to offer a perfunctory greeting, to his feet and led him to sit down.

Her eyebrows curved in a smile, clearly indicating that she was very satisfied with Wei Jing.

Although Wang Dajia was the foremost scholar, he did not look down on military generals.

In the past two years, Nanjing has been plagued by constant warfare. If it weren't for the emergence of a group of brave and fearless young generals like Wei Jing, countless people would have been displaced, their families destroyed, and their lives ruined.

Nowadays, many soldiers are stationed at the border to prevent enemy invasions, which is why the king has great respect for them.

Among them, Wei Jing can be considered the best.

When he first led the troops, Wei Zhi was indeed brave and skilled in battle, and had a good reputation.

But he died a tragic death, and Wei Jing took over his position, fighting bravely and commanding troops with unparalleled skill.

They even deployed 500 troops in a night raid on the enemy camp, burning their grain depot and securing a major victory.

Therefore, his military achievements were the greatest.

Otherwise, given his current rank as a third-grade general, it would be impossible for him to go out and establish his own residence.

Before he returned to the capital, Wang Dajia had written a poem praising this group of young generals, so he had a deep impression of Wei Jing.

It was our first meeting today, so I was quite excited.

"General Wei's valiant figure on the battlefield is truly admirable! You are so young, you will surely achieve even greater things in the future. When I see you, I see the hope of Nanjing!"

Just moments ago, Wang Dajia was calm and composed, but now he was in high spirits, his cloudy eyes shining brightly, as if he had forgotten everyone else in the room.

Hearing this from the side, Zhou clenched her fists, her eyes surging with hatred. Her sinister gaze seemed to wish she could skin Wei Jing alive, tear out his bones, and drink his blood clean!

Everyone in the room was preoccupied with their own thoughts. Lu Yun rolled her eyes around and pushed her son out again.

"Master Wang, since you admire General Wei so much and he is also your wife's teacher, then this child is destined for you. You must accept him as your son!"

Wang Dajia snapped out of his daze and looked at the clever-looking Wei Heng in front of him, only then realizing why he had come here today.

“Mingwei, your brother wrote to me, asking me to come and see how talented this child is. At my age, I had promised His Majesty that I should not take on any more disciples except for tutoring one more prince.”

“But since it’s for your sake, brother and sister, I can consider it!” Wang Dajia turned to Jiang Mingwei and said.

Zhou and Lu Yun immediately beamed with joy. The gloom in their hearts vanished instantly.

If Wang Dajia can teach the princes, and she can also teach Wei Heng, wouldn't that allow her to establish a connection with the royal family in the future?!

Ignoring the fact that he had just praised Wei Jing to the skies, Zhou Shi happily pulled her grandson over and begged Wang Dajia to take a good look at him again.

The room was silent. Wang Dajia asked a few questions.

Wei Heng bit her finger and blinked, her understanding only half-complete, and her answer was not very satisfactory.

Stroking his beard, Wang Dajia had already made up his mind.

“This child is quite intelligent, but I'm afraid it would be too much pressure for him to be my student, and he wouldn't be able to keep up.”

Jiang Mingwei's expression was knowing; everything was within her expectations.

Top teachers naturally only teach top students; only through strong collaboration can greater benefits be created.

Wang Dajia has become famous over the years, not because he raised a fool into a genius, but because he stimulated the genius's abilities to an even higher level!

He wouldn't look down on ordinary students.

This is why Jiang Mingwei agreed to let Wang Dajia come here.

Because he simply couldn't possibly be interested in Wei Heng.

Zhou and Lu Yun were stunned. They never expected that the gold nugget they held in their hands would be looked down upon by others.

"Master Wang, are you sure? This grandson of mine is my son Wei Zhi's only son!"

Wang Dajia's eyes dimmed: "General Wei can be considered a dragon among men, but unfortunately this child is indeed not qualified enough. We should find someone else to teach him!"

Lu Yun's face turned pale as she tearfully pleaded, but once the Wang family had made up their minds, they would not easily change them.

Seeing that she couldn't persuade him, Zhou immediately glared at Jiang Mingwei with a cold look in her eyes.

"You shameless woman, did you instigate this? Otherwise, why wouldn't he accept my precious grandson as his disciple!"

Jiang Mingwei: "???"

Meow meow meow, she's sitting here drinking tea, has she said a single word?

Why does this person always try to shift the blame? She has so many accusations on her shoulders that she could open a restaurant!

Upon seeing her insulting Jiang Mingwei, Wang Dajia's face immediately darkened.

"Madam, please be careful with your words! I'm not accepting him because your grandson is not qualified enough. Teaching him would be useless, and he might be dragged down by my strict teaching methods. Do you want to make him stupid?"

Zhou's eyes were bloodshot, and she was filled with hatred!

It was one thing for Jiang Mingwei to be Wang Dajia's student, but after Wei Jing arrived, he kept praising Wei Jing, almost to the point of exalting him.

However, she didn't mention her son who sacrificed his life, clearly showing no concern whatsoever.

If he had taken Wei Heng as his wife, that would have been fine, but now even her grandson is being neglected.

How could the Zhou family bear such humiliation?!

"What nonsense about being the top literary figure and a great Confucian scholar of our time? In my opinion, you're nothing but a fame-seeker. My grandson is so intelligent; you must be blind to see that he's destined for greatness!"

Zhou snorted coldly and launched into a sharp-tongued insult.

"You!" Wang Dajia's face turned ashen, clearly not expecting Zhou Shi to utter such vile words.

Jiang Mingwei quickly stepped forward to help him up, giving Zhou a cold smile.

"Isn't your mother-in-law just trying to get Wei Heng to be your teacher's student? I can help you with that!"
