Chapter 12 Making a fuss
Then she was even happier, "Mom, this must weigh at least seven or eight pounds."
Ma Xiulian was overjoyed. "I quickly put the rabbit in the basket so that no one would see it."
Although hunting in the mountains was allowed these days, anything that appeared in the production team was considered public property.
After putting the wild rabbit in the basket, Chen Honghong picked a few large leaves from the roadside to cover it up.
Ma Xiulian glanced around suspiciously, then lowered her voice and said, "Let's go home quickly."
"Um."
The mother and daughter quickened their pace and arrived home in just a few minutes.
Everyone else in the Chen family had gone back to their rooms; at this time, everyone goes to bed early.
Upon entering the kitchen, Chen Honghong opened the basket and saw that the wild rabbit had woken up sometime earlier, staring blankly with its red eyes, lying motionless.
These are nothing like the wild rabbits that used to run away at the drop of a hat.
He immediately frowned and asked, "Mom, is this rabbit stupid?"
Ma Xiulian waved her hand dismissively, "Who cares if it's stupid or not? As long as it's edible!"
Chen Honghong nodded, "That makes sense."
After she finished speaking, her mother kissed her little niece on the cheek and praised her happily, "Our little darling is so good. She knows how to bring rabbits to her grandma at such a young age."
Helian Jiao blinked her big, innocent eyes: She didn't do anything.
The rabbit was too timid; it panicked and ran away at the mere sense of her dragon's might, crashing headfirst into Ma Xiulian's thigh.
Chen Honghong looked at her mother with a puzzled expression, "What does this have to do with my baby?"
It was clearly the wild rabbit that ran into it on its own.
You wouldn't understand even if I told you.
Ma Xiulian didn't want to explain too much to her daughter, so she only told her, "In short, you know your little niece is very lucky, so just treat her well."
Chen Honghong didn't take the first part of his sentence seriously, and just smiled and said, "Don't worry, I love our darling very much."
At this moment, Helian Jiao opened her small mouth and yawned; she was sleepy.
Upon seeing this, Ma Xiulian gently coaxed, "My sweet baby is sleepy. Shall we finish our milk before we go to sleep?"
Helian Jiao smacked her lips: Drink!
So Ma Xiulian took her to Li Chunhua to breastfeed her, and after she finished drinking, she took her back to her own room and cared for her herself.

The next morning, the Chen family was pleasantly surprised to find an extra wild rabbit in the kitchen.
"Mom, where did this rabbit come from?"
Ma Xiulian said calmly, "I bumped into it on my way back last night."
The Chen family members stared in shock, their eyes wide. "Such a good thing?!"
Normally, the wild rabbits on the mountain would run away as fast as they could when they saw people, and they couldn't catch them even if they wanted to.
Only Old Man Chen, who knew the truth last night, silently munched on his pancake, thinking: It's perfectly normal for God to send his divine granddaughter a wild rabbit, what's the big deal?
Chen Honghong, as a witness, testified to her mother, "Yes, the rabbit just ran straight into my mother's leg and knocked itself unconscious."
Upon hearing this, the others looked at Ma Xiulian with envy, "Mom, you're so lucky!"
A hint of pride and smugness appeared on Ma Xiulian's face. "That's because I was holding my precious baby," she said.
Old Chen's family clearly didn't believe it, and Zhou Zhaodi even curled her lip, "Mom, even if you favor Wu Ni, you don't need to drag her into every good thing."
She's clearly a little vixen!
Ma Xiulian didn't bother to pay attention to her, and only said, "My baby's name isn't Wu Ni, her full name is Chen Jiao, and her nickname is Jiao Jiao."
The Chen family was stunned when they heard it; this name sounded much more sophisticated than Wu Ni's.
