Chapter 85. There's braised fish to eat.

Chapter 85: There's braised fish to eat.

At Old Chen's house, several women were cooking over a fire, while several younger children, who had been playing wildly, hadn't yet returned home.

Ma Xiulian said to Da Ni, who was peeling potatoes, "Da Ni, go and call Gua Bao and the others back for dinner."

"Okay, I'll go right away."

Da Ni responded and had just put down the potatoes and stood up when she heard a group of children chattering outside.

"Grandma, it must be Guabao and the others coming back." She sat back down and continued peeling potatoes.

Ma Xiulian heard this too, and said to Erni, who was sitting behind the stove tending the fire, "Erni, come here and rinse the rice in the bowl and put it in the steamer to steam."

My daughter is very clean, so she has to wash her little granddaughter's hands and face, and change her clothes if they get dirty.

After Ma Xiulian finished speaking, she went outside and didn't see the dissatisfaction and jealousy on Erni's face, because this bowl of white rice was a special delicacy reserved only for the little princess.

Upon seeing this, Da Ni quickly whispered, "Er Ni, please don't make Grandma angry."

Grandma saw Erni's defiant attitude towards the housekeeper, and she was sure to get angry.

Grandma can be really fierce when she's angry. Last time, she took a stick and beat Uncle San until he was crying for his parents.

Moreover, Grandma can now knock out a wild boar with a single hoe; if it were Erni, she would definitely be beaten to death.

Although Erni was unwilling, she was still afraid of milk, so after washing the rice, she secretly grabbed a handful of soil from the wall and sprinkled it in.

As soon as Ma Xiulian stepped out of the kitchen, several children rushed up to her, with Chen Erbao leading the way.

"Grandma, we're having fish tonight!"

His excited, loud voice made Ma Xiulian's ears ring. She immediately waved her hands like she was shooing away flies, saying, "I'm not hard of hearing, I can hear you. Did you sneak off to the reservoir again—"

Before she could finish speaking, her expression changed. "Where's my darling? Why didn't she come back with you?"

All the children came back, but her precious baby was the only one missing.

Erbao said with a look of envy, "My dear, you went to Aunt Jiang's house to eat meat."

Which Aunt Jiang?

Concerned and confused, Ma Xiulian didn't react immediately, after all, the two families had only known each other for a few days.

“That’s Tingyun’s mother.” Sanni, who was a step behind, said as she handed over the plastic bag in her hand, “Grandma, this is braised fish that Aunt Jiang gave us.”

Inside the plastic bag was a white takeout box.

Ma Xiulian took it and saw that it contained a whole braised fish, which smelled incredibly delicious.

Standing next to her, Chen Erbao was drooling, his eyes glued to the braised fish without blinking.

Ma Xiulian was stunned for a while before she came to her senses and asked calmly, "Did Aunt Jiang invite Guaibao to her house for dinner? Or did Tingyun want Guaibao to go?"

Jiang Manyun was so generous in sharing a braised fish with them, she must have brought back a lot of delicious food.

In any case, if it were Ma Xiulian herself, she would never be so sentimental and generous about other people's children.

Sanni nodded: "It was Aunt Jiang who invited Guaibao to dinner, saying she would bring Guaibao back after dinner."

My sweet baby is sure to eat lots and lots of meat tonight!

When Aunt Jiang opened the basket to take out something, she saw that there were several white boxes inside.

Hearing this, Ma Xiulian felt relieved and looked at her dirty grandchildren, saying, "Go wash your hands. We can eat when the workers come back."

Chen Erbao, that clever and greedy little monkey, licked his lips and asked, "Grandma, shall we have this braised fish tonight?"
