Chapter 133 Zhenzhen, Don't Look
Theoretically speaking, this is the first formal meeting between Lu Chang'an and Lu Jin, because Lu Chang'an was knocked unconscious the last time they met.
Xia Zhen looked at Lu Chang'an warily. It was as if he had disappeared from their sight for a long time. When he reappeared, he was right behind them, and the key point was that they were standing on the side of the road with heavy traffic.
It's no wonder Xia Zhen judged Lu Chang'an with a petty mind; it's simply because Lu Chang'an can hardly be considered a gentleman.
Perhaps unaware that he was not popular, Lu Chang'an smiled and explained, "I just came to say hello because I saw someone I knew. I didn't mean any harm."
Although Lu Chang'an smiled charmingly, he did look quite haggard. Even though Hao Hui was inexplicably released again, she argued with Lu Huiming, who was unemployed, almost every day.
It could be related to Lu Huiming's job search, Hao Hui's secret switch of the children back then, or Lu Ci's inability to move while lying in bed.
In short, they can always find a reason to argue.
Because of financial difficulties, Lu Ci is no longer hospitalized and has been taken home. However, Hao Hui and Lu Huiming both need to find work, so the task of taking care of the bedridden person falls on Lu Chang'an.
During the period leading up to the college entrance examination, Lu Chang'an was studying at a prestigious private school like Shengyi. However, when he returned home, he became a caregiver who had to clean up his so-called younger brother's excrement and urine. Many times, Lu Huiming disapproved of him and forced him to go out and find part-time jobs to supplement the family income. Hao Hui just remained silent and didn't say a word.
This sense of disconnect was unbearable for him.
He longed to return to his old life, but after seeing Lu Yuan for the last time, his last hope was shattered.
He happened to see Lu Jin today, and on a whim, he walked up behind him.
Unfortunately, Lu Jin was too perceptive.
Lu Jin said coldly, "We don't know you well, so we have nothing to talk to you about."
Just then, the red light turned green, and the traffic in the vicinity came to a temporary halt.
Lu Jin took Xia Zhen's hand and led her onto the zebra crossing.
Shortly after they reached the other side of the road, they heard a loud screech of brakes, a crash, and screams from passersby.
Xia Zhen turned around to look, and a pair of hands had already covered her eyes in time.
"Zhenzhen, don't look."
Xia Zhen seemed to sense something, and she obediently let someone cover her eyes, gently replying, "Okay, I won't look."
Lu Jin looked up at the road, his eyes filled with an unreadable emotion.
The boy's emotions were usually quite indifferent, but this time, even though Xia Zhen couldn't see his face, she could definitely sense that he was angry.
"Let's go eat." Lu Jin took her hand again, not letting her turn around, and led her forward without looking back.
They went to a hot pot restaurant and naturally ordered a half-and-half pot, because Lu Jin could only eat light flavors, while Xia Zhen preferred strong flavors.
He also took great care of her during the meal.
Lu Jin placed the cooked beef rolls into her bowl. Seeing that she was still looking at him hesitantly, he asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Xia Zhen asked, "Lu Jin, are you unhappy?"
"No."
"Really not?"
Lu Jin picked up a piece of meat and put it in her mouth, a faint smile on his lips. "I was unhappy just now, but I'm not now."
Xia Zhen said vaguely, "Lu Jin, sometimes I really think you look a lot like your father, especially when you smile."
Lu Jin replied indifferently, "Is that so?"
It seems that he doesn't think his resemblance to Lu Qi is something to brag about.
Xia Zhen said, "Yes, every time we see Lu Chang'an, that guy always has a smiling face and looks very friendly. I just feel that he doesn't imitate him at all. Even though he has been with Uncle Lu for so many years, he hasn't even learned a tenth of Uncle Lu's mannerisms."
Lu Jin put another piece of meat that wasn't so hot into her mouth, "Zhenzhen, don't worry about people who aren't important to us."
Xia Zhen nodded, puffed out her cheeks, and asked again, "So you were unhappy just now because of me?"
"No." Lu Jin leaned down, lowered his eyes to look at her closely, "Zhenzhen, I could never have any negative feelings towards you."
Xia Zhen, pushing her luck, said, "Then I'll watch adult content tonight..."
"no."
"Why?"
"Because I'll be unhappy."
Xia Zhen glared at him, "You just said you wouldn't have any negative feelings towards me."
He pinched her cheek. "It's not about you, it's about what you're looking at that I'm unhappy with."
"Lu Jin, you're getting better and better at twisting logic!" She nodded in affirmation. "Not bad, you're learning a lot from me."
She is quite self-aware.
Lu Jin touched her face again.
She looked at him with displeasure, "Let's eat, why are you touching me all the time?"
"Look how thick-skinned you are."
Xia Zhen angrily put the nearly cooked vegetables into his bowl, "Eat your grass!"
Lu Jin knew he couldn't provoke her anymore, or he'd have to coax her later, so he obediently ate the thing the girl had named "Grass".
Just then, Xia Zhen saw a familiar figure. She stood up and greeted her happily, "Teacher Wen!"
A couple walked by; the woman was gentle and charming, and the man had a calm and composed demeanor. When the woman saw Xia Zhen, her eyes lit up. "It's Xia Zhen and Lu Jin! Long time no see!"
Lu Jin also stood up politely, "Teacher Wen."
Teacher Wen glanced at Lu Jin a few more times and saw that his complexion was much better than before. She was happy for him. Then, she introduced him to the people around her, "These are my students, the ones I mentioned to you, Lu Jin and Xia Zhen. They both got into your alma mater this time."
The young man wore glasses, was tall, handsome, and seemed very well-mannered. He smiled politely and said, "Then you can be considered my juniors."
Xia Zhen, a social butterfly, smiled and asked, "Are you Teacher Wen's boyfriend?"
The man shook his head, then smiled and said, "He's my fiancé."
Ms. Wen smiled a little embarrassedly, "We're having our wedding the day after tomorrow."
Xia Zhen looked expectant. "I know that. We were just discussing in our group how much money we should give as a wedding gift when Teacher Wen gets married!"
Teacher Wen quickly said, "No need for that. You're welcome to come for dinner, and I'll save you an extra portion of wedding candy. Please don't give me any money."
The man laughed and said, "It's good that you've come. There's no need to bring gifts, otherwise your teacher Wen won't be able to sleep tonight."
