Chapter 16 You are very light
"Snow... made of fairies?"
The little boy stared wide-eyed, and it took him a moment to realize that he was being praised, as he had never heard such a thing before. He then blushed.
Little Lu Jin's shy demeanor is much cuter than his feigned composure when he grew up.
Xia Zhen couldn't resist any longer, and her hands were itching as she asked, "Little Lu Jin, can I touch your face?"
Xiao Lu Jin lowered his head and softly hummed in agreement.
Xia Zhen couldn't wait to reach out and touch the little boy's soft face, which was still hot from shyness.
She exclaimed from the bottom of her heart, "You're so cute! You're so incredibly cute! I want to steal you away and take you home!"
His ears turned bright red.
Lu Jin is still young now. Compared to himself ten years later, he has not been exposed to so much malice. Therefore, as long as someone shows him a little kindness, he can't help but believe it.
Just like now.
Urged on by Xia Zhen, he finished most of the things she bought. Finally, Xia Zhen touched his slightly bulging belly and said to him with a smile, "Are you full?"
He nodded, and then he asked, "Fairy sister, are you cold?"
Xia Zhen said with an air of seriousness, "Of course it's not cold! Fairies don't get cold!"
She was actually quite cold, but she believed she had to maintain her goddess-like demeanor in front of the children.
Xiao Lu Jin grasped one of her hands and blinked. "It's cold."
Xia Zhen didn't expect to be exposed by a child so quickly. She was a little embarrassed, but she quickly came up with an explanation without blushing or skipping a beat: "I'm a fairy, of course my body temperature is different from yours."
The little boy seemed slightly bewildered, as if unsure whether he should believe it or not.
Just then, a girl with a ponytail walked past the alley entrance.
Although Xiao Lujin only glanced at it, Xia Zhen noticed it as well.
She asked, "Do you know that girl?"
He said, "She's the girl next door, and she's in the same class as me."
Xia Zhen suddenly asked, "Are you eight years old this year?"
He nodded obediently again.
Once people accept the premise that she is a fairy, no matter how much information she reveals about him, it is no longer surprising.
Xia Zhen suddenly understood the significance of her arrival at this point in time. She glanced outside the alley and saw that the little girl had already reached the roadside.
Xia Zhen placed her hands on the little boy's shoulders and said solemnly, "Stay here and don't run out."
Although Lu Jin didn't understand, he still said, "Okay."
Xia Zhen hurriedly ran out, her bare feet stepping on the cold ground. Occasionally, small pebbles hurt her feet, but she didn't slow down.
The red light turned green.
The little girl stepped onto the zebra crossing, but a car that didn't look at the traffic lights rushed out.
Xia Zhen reached out and pulled the girl back in time, and the car sped away in an instant.
Standing by the roadside, Xia Zhen breathed a long sigh of relief. In such a tense moment, she actually had the leisure to sigh to herself, wondering what grudge or resentment she had against crossing the road.
This is the second time someone has rescued someone on the street.
"Big sister..."
Xia Zhen lowered her head.
The little girl blinked her big eyes, which held both fear and curiosity, but clearly the latter was stronger than the former.
Although Xia Zhen hadn't met Tang Susu many times, she was certain that this was Tang Susu when she was a child.
Tang Susu is a popular "naive and sweet" female lead character these days. She's soft and cute, and her grown-up appearance is practically a proportionally enlarged version of her adorable childhood self.
Xia Zhen immediately put on a fierce look, "Look carefully when you cross the street, what if someone blind runs a red light? Got it?"
Tang Susu was startled. "I...I understand."
Ugh, this older sister is so fierce!
Xia Zhen breathed a sigh of relief. Now that she had rescued Tang Susu ahead of time, would Lu Jin be spared the tragic fate of being crippled in both legs?
Thinking about this made her even more excited.
"Little Lu Jin!" Xia Zhen turned around and looked towards the alley, a bright smile spreading across her face.
The colors of the newly lit neon lights fell upon her, reflecting her smile, especially as she looked at him with eyes brighter than the lights themselves, her gaze filled with joy.
Xiao Lu Jin stood stiffly in that corner, at a loss. He wanted to get closer to her, but he remembered what she had told him not to run away.
Xia Zhen ran towards him.
A sudden gust of cold wind blinded him. When Xiao Lujin opened his eyes again, the passersby were still there, and the lively night scene was still there.
But her figure was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly falling onto the soft bed, Xia Zhen was still in shock. She lay on the bed for a while, wondering if she had just had a dream.
But her body was still cold. When she sat up in bed, she looked at the soles of her feet and saw that they were still covered in dust.
She wasn't dreaming!
Xia Zhen hurriedly took out her phone.
A small lamp had recently been added to the dimly lit little room, and now a table had been added, with a small cake on it.
The slender little boy was no longer hiding in the corner; he stood by the table, seemingly staring at the small cake on it.
Even if Xia Zhen is stupid, she knows that this game must have a lot to do with Lu Jin, the Snow White.
She really wanted to knock on the door across the street to see if Lu Jin had changed, but it was already past 1 a.m., so it was definitely not appropriate for her to knock.
That night, Xia Zhen couldn't sleep, tossing and turning, unable to calm her excited heart. Finally, dawn broke, and she got up at 5:30. After washing up, she packed the fried dumplings that Aunt Fang had made for her into a thermal container, put it in her schoolbag, and then went out.
Xia Zhen didn't want to attract the attention of other members of the Lu family and cause trouble for Lu Jintian, so she deliberately took the elevator to the first floor and waited in the lobby.
Lu Jin usually leaves home very early, so she didn't have to wait long before she saw the boy coming out of the elevator.
He was still in a wheelchair.
Upon seeing Xia Zhen waiting there, the young man paused slightly. "What are you doing here?"
Xia Zhen glanced at his legs a few times, and seeing nothing amiss, she suppressed her disappointment and smiled, "I'll wait for you to go to school together."
Lu Jin did not comment on this, and silently pushed the wheelchair forward.
Xia Zhen took a few steps, then her vision went black, her legs gave way, and she almost fell to the ground.
Someone grabbed her hand in time and pulled her back from her loss of balance.
So the girl, who was about to fall, ended up sitting on the boy's lap due to inertia.
Xia Zhen's breath was warm. She groggily raised her eyes and met the boy's usually indifferent eyes, but now, as he looked at her, there seemed to be a hint of emotion in them.
Lu Jin placed a hand on her forehead. "You have a fever."
Xia Zhen was a little slow to react. "Really?"
Unlike her usual slightly mischievous demeanor, she looked incredibly well-behaved now.
Lu Jin's Adam's apple bobbed, and he said, "You need to go to the hospital."
"No need, it's just a minor cold, I'll be fine soon." Xia Zhen slowly realized she was still sitting on his lap, so she quickly covered her mouth and moved away from him. "Don't infect you, and your leg too..."
He lowered his eyes. "It's okay, you're very light."
In an instant, Xia Zhen exclaimed, "You can feel how light I am!"
He has lost all feeling in his legs since the accident many years ago.
After a moment of stunned silence, the boy hurriedly raised his eyes.
Xia Zhen excitedly grasped his hand, "I think I really need to go to the hospital for a checkup because I think I'm very sick. Lu Jin, please come with me to the hospital!"
