Chapter 52 Each on its own

Chapter 52 Each on its own

The people in the study had not yet come out; only three younger relatives were sitting at the dining table.

Xia Zhen was the first to sit down. As soon as she sat down, she took out her phone and showed no interest in looking up at anyone.

Tang Susu sat opposite Xia Zhen, and a short while later, Song Heng sat down next to her.

Tang Susu said with dissatisfaction, "Could you please not sit next to me?"

Song Heng leaned closer to Tang Susu, smiling mischievously, "You're wrong, this is how we're supposed to be next to each other."

He had already touched her shoulder; his tall stature made it seem as if he were enveloping her petite frame in his arms.

Tang Susu blushed and hurriedly pushed him away, stammering, "You, you stay away from me!"

Like a big bad wolf teasing a rabbit, Song Heng smiled with amusement, but his peripheral vision still inadvertently fell on the girl opposite him.

Xia Zhen didn't react at all; her eyes were fixed on her phone, as if she were playing some game.

Song Heng was obediently pushed away by Tang Susu. He seemed to behave himself for the time being, leaning lazily against the back of his chair in a languid posture.

Tang Susu felt very embarrassed, but seeing that Xia Zhen didn't seem to care about what was happening, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

At the same time, Tang Susu couldn't help but complain in her heart.

Song Heng and Xia Zhen were childhood sweethearts; one was a young master and the other a young lady, a perfect match. I really don't know why Song Heng insists on clinging to me!

I heard from others that Xia Zhen likes Song Heng. If we can bring them together, then Song Heng will stop bothering her, and Xia Zhen will stop being hostile towards her.

Tang Susu's heart was pounding. She felt like she had come up with a great idea!

After more than ten minutes of silence, the elders finally emerged from the study and walked together into the banquet hall.

Tang Susu was the first to stand up and call out to an elderly man with white hair, "Grandpa!"

He was an elderly man with a cane, but he was very energetic. Although the vicissitudes of time had made his body less agile, it had not diminished his spirit.

His eyes were bright and sharp; after years of navigating the business world, he possessed an aura that inspired awe.

Upon closer inspection, Xia Yu, who was walking behind, and the old man looked exactly alike, both so upright and serious.

When facing Tang Susu, Grandpa Xia's serious expression disappeared, replaced by a kind smile. "Susu, come and meet Grandpa Lu."

Tang Susu looked at the unfamiliar man standing next to Grandpa Xia and asked uncertainly, "Grandpa Lu...?"

The man smiled gently, "Although Xiaoyu and I are about the same age, according to seniority, it's not wrong for you to call me Grandpa, right, Xiaoyu?"

Xiaoyu?

What kind of address is that!

Faced with the gazes of everyone on him, Xia Yu's eyelids twitched, but strangely, he did not refute what the man said.

The man was dressed in a suit and tie and had a gentle demeanor, but he had a pair of alluring eyes that added a touch of seductive charm to his meticulous seriousness.

This is the man named Lu Qi. Many years ago, he became a close friend of Old Master Xia, and they even addressed each other as brothers. Xia Yu, who was only a few years younger than him, was thus a generation younger than Lu Qi.

When Xia Yu was young, Lu Qi often bullied him by taking advantage of being older and taller than him, and by using his so-called seniority.

However, Lu Qi always managed to package his little tricks to tease Xia Yu as being for Xia Yu's own good, which caused Xia Yu to suffer quite a bit as a result.

In other words, Lu Qi is Xia Yu's childhood trauma.

At this moment, Grandpa Xia looked at Xia Zhen, who was still playing on her phone, and deliberately coughed loudly a few times.

Xia Zhen put down her phone, stood up, and called out in a rather subdued tone, "Grandpa."

Grandpa Xia grunted with a stern face, "You didn't even greet Grandpa Lu. You're so inconsiderate. Your father has really spoiled you."

Xia Yu looked at Tang Susu and said, "Aren't you going to greet your uncle? You're so inconsiderate. Have you been spoiled by someone?"

Old Master Xia's face darkened.

Tang Susu stood up straight nervously. "I'm sorry, Uncle, I didn't mean to!"

Grandpa Xia snorted heavily at Xia Yu, "You talk too much!"

Xia Yu calmly said, "They all say I look like you, sir."

So if he talks a lot, then the old man also talks a lot.

Grandpa Xia was so angry that he couldn't utter a single word.

Lu Qi smiled, his eyes narrowed, his voice tinged with amusement, "It seems that Xiao Yu's personality has become much more cheerful since we last met."

What do you mean by cheerful?

He's probably lying through his teeth.

Xia Yu didn't even glance at Lu Qi, too lazy to pay him any attention.

"This must be Zhenzhen." Lu Qi's gaze fell on Xia Zhen, and he was genuinely nostalgic. "When you were just born, Ruoruo and I held you in our arms. You were such a tiny little thing back then, even smaller than our Chang'an. Now you're so big. If Ruoruo were here today, she would definitely be very happy to see you."

Xia Zhen guessed that Ruoruo, whom he mentioned, was probably his wife, and Chang'an was their child.

Xia Zhen could sense the kindness in this person, and she smiled sincerely, "You are so young and handsome, I really can't bring myself to call you Grandpa. Besides, I think your wife wouldn't want to be called Grandma at such a young age either."

Lu Qi stroked his chin, thought for a moment, and said, "That's true. Ruoruo hates having her age mentioned so much, she definitely doesn't like being called 'Grandma.' How about this, you don't have to call me 'Grandpa' anymore, you can just call me 'Uncle.' Your dad calls me 'Uncle,' and you call me 'Uncle.' You can each address each other as you see fit."

Clearly, Lu Qi is also a person who doesn't care about details.

Xia Yu: "Who wants to call you uncle?"

Xia Zhen: "Hello, Uncle Lu."

Lu Qi ignored Xia Yu, reached out and patted Xia Zhen's head, and laughed, "So cute, I wish I had such a cute daughter."

Xia Yu decisively slapped Lu Qi's hand away. He pulled Xia Zhen back two steps, his eyes conveying a warning.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he grabbed Xia Zhen's hand, Xia Zhen suddenly hissed in pain.

Xia Yu frowned. "What's going on?"

"fine……"

Xia Yu lifted Xia Zhen's sleeve and saw the bruise on her elbow, a dark mark that looked shocking against her fair hand.

Song Heng had been standing aside until he saw the injury on Xia Zhen's elbow, at which point his gaze paused slightly.

A tense atmosphere enveloped Xia Yu. "Who did this?"

Even Grandpa Xia's demeanor changed, "How did you get injured?"
