Chapter 192 Rain Curtain

Chapter 192 Rain Curtain

Xia Yu: "You married me with high hopes, but I didn't cherish our relationship. Even after Zhenzhen was born, I ignored your thoughts and feelings and presumptuously arranged everything for you, which made you gradually feel disappointed in me. You chose to leave because I am a very incompetent husband."

If it weren't for the sound of rain outside reminding Wen Yu that this was reality, she would have thought she was dreaming.

After a long pause, she smiled and said, "If it were more than ten years ago, and I heard you say these things..."

"As long as we are alive, it's not too late."

Wen Yu was interrupted, and she looked at Xia Yu suspiciously, wondering if he had suffered some kind of shock.

During this time, Lu Qi brought Lin Ruo, who was still in a coma, back to China, and Xia Zhen found her life partner, which completely disrupted Xia Yu's orderly life.

Amidst the chaos, he felt it so clearly: he didn't want to become Lu Qi. Wen Yu was standing right in front of him, so why couldn't he be as bold and straightforward as Xia Zhen?

Wen Yu said rationally, "Xia Yu, I don't know what you're thinking, but if we're not compatible, we're not compatible. I also have my reasons for this divorce. You should know very well that we're incompatible."

Xia Yu picked up the bowl of goat milk and drank it all in one gulp, displaying the same spirit as when drinking alcohol. He stared straight at Wen Yu and said clearly and forcefully, "I hate goat milk, but I can drink it now, Wen Yu. I can make a change."

"You don't need to force yourself for my sake."

He said, "It's not for you, it's for myself."

Wen Yu was momentarily speechless.

After several days of heavy rain, it finally started to subside over the weekend.

Zhuang Ya and Zhao Xiyu's homes are in other places, and they only go back once a month. Even if it's drizzling, the two of them will pack their things and rush home as soon as their classes end on Friday.

Xia Zhen didn't have to rush to catch a train, so she had more time to herself. She tidied up the messy snacks and skincare products on the table, then turned to Song Zhu and asked, "Are you going back this week?"

Song Zhu was still playing games. Upon hearing this, she shook her head and said, "I won't reply."

If she went back to the Song family, her mother would definitely keep forcing her to drink all kinds of soups, and those relatives would come to "care" about her father lying in the hospital every few days. More importantly, she didn't want to see Song Heng for the time being.

Just a short while ago, Song Heng sent her a message asking if Xia Zhen was there. Song Zhu didn't reply. She felt that Song Heng's behavior was a bit strange, which made her feel a little... scared.

Song Zhu turned around and looked at Xia Zhen, who was about to leave. She called out, "Xia Zhen."

Xia Zhen turned to look at her, "What's wrong?"

"Will your boyfriend come to pick you up so you can leave together?"

Xia Zhen didn't understand why Song Zhu suddenly asked this question. She nodded, "Yes, he will come to pick me up. Why?"

Song Zhu realized she was overthinking it and casually said, "It's nothing, I just think it's a little dangerous for a girl to walk alone on the street."

It's still raining, and it gets dark early.

Xia Zhen smiled and said, "Don't worry, but you should be careful while you're alone in the dorm. Contact me if anything happens."

Song Zhu hummed in agreement.

Xia Zhen carried her bag out the door and arrived at the dormitory building. There she saw a white-haired boy holding an umbrella. A smile bloomed on her face, and she ran towards him.

Lu Jin hurriedly took a few steps forward, caught her as she rushed towards him, and held the umbrella over her head to shield her from the wind and rain.

She looked up and said shyly, "The teacher went overtime today, so I got back to the dorm a little late and was slow packing. Did you wait for me for a long time? You weren't angry, were you?"

He reached out and gently wiped away a drop of water from her cheek with his fingertips. "I'm not angry. I'm just happy to see you."

Her eyes curved at the corners, and her dark, moist eyes sparkled like stars. "So what do we do now?"

He took her hand and led her forward, saying, "Let's go buy groceries."

The food in the apartment was used up last week.

Xia Zhen leaned against him, "We'll only buy meat, not grass."

Lu Jin looked down at her, a slight smile playing on his lips. "No."

She pursed her lips, her face full of displeasure.

“If you do well…” he said in a low voice, “it’s not impossible to try the things you’ve read in those novels.”

Xia Zhen looked at him with surprise, "Really?"

Lu Jin nodded seriously, "Really."

Xia Zhen immediately perked up. She grabbed his arm and began to chatter on and on, "Lu Jin, did you know? Our class monitor actually has a boyfriend! I wonder what kind of man could win her heart. On the contrary, our queen is still completely straight. I wonder when she'll have any good news. Oh, and Teacher Wen, I saw in the group chat that Teacher Wen is pregnant..."

Amidst the pattering rain, her muttering wasn't noisy at all; instead, it seemed to add a touch of liveliness to this gray world.

Lu Jin listened to her seemingly endless chatter about trivial matters, and he patiently replied to every single one of her words.

Sometimes, when she gets excited and looks up at him, leaning back slightly, he will pull her back to his side with one hand, preventing the wind and rain from falling on her.

She seemed used to his natural little gestures and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Instead, she obediently let him do as he pleased.

"I wonder if Teacher Wen's baby is a boy or a girl. I heard the due date is next summer vacation..." Xia Zhen said, noticing that Lu Jin suddenly looked in another direction. She asked, "What's wrong?"

Lu Jin withdrew his gaze and smiled faintly, "I just noticed that one of the streetlights went out; it's probably broken."

Xia Zhen glanced in that direction and, sure enough, the streetlight next to the tree was off. It wasn't a big problem, so she didn't pay it any mind and continued to enthusiastically discuss his aunt's relationship status with him.

She hadn't seen Lu Yuan since her last visit to the school, and she was very curious about how Lu Yuan's love life was going.

Lu Jin really didn't know what happened next. He looked at her with a smile in his eyes, "I'll ask my aunt one of these days and then I'll tell you."

She smiled and said, "Okay!"

In the rain, as their figures receded into the distance, even their voices faded into the distance.

In a corner without light, it seems as if the word "lively" is completely absent.

The boy was tall and thin, and his wet clothes accentuated his loneliness and desolation. The temperature was low on this rainy night, but he seemed oblivious to the cold, staring fixedly in the direction where the girl had disappeared.

But he was indeed cold, for his face was bloodless, his lips were pale, and his dark eyes seemed bewildered and helpless, filled with a misty haze, as if they could drip at any moment.
